  1. I love Seth, and I love who we are and where we’re going, but.....look where UAB was, where they went, and where they currently are. Look at where Appalachian State is, what are these coaches salaries? What is the secret? Are they playing for the absolute best results possible? Would they trade for what we have?

Some of you guys are so linear in your thinking.

Most of the schools on the Big XII list have no shot at this Big XII expansion and know that. By taking a run at it, they just got their name mentioned not just with the Big XII but with the schools they have a realistic chance of aligning with.

It's like seeing a group of hot people at a bar around a celebrity. You can guess which of the 8-10 people you have a shot at and approach them or go hit on the celebrity, watch the reactions and figure out pretty quickly who thinks you are funny/smart/cute/handsome/repellant/annoying and focus your efforts more intelligently.

    Love this thinking

North Texas fan mentality pre 2012- Remain quiet while people talk about college football. Speak up about hoops (at least we have basketball)

North Texas fan mentality in 2013- Talk about college football with your fellow SEC and Big 12 team fan buddies. Don't get to cocky... But your are given the right to speak highly of the Mean Green Defense when it comes down to it. Suck it TCU and Texas

North Texas fan post 2014- Just remain quiet about sports, roll your eyes when someone bad mouths UNT... But never speak up or argue about it. Walk into an establishment IN DENTON and hesitate a little to ask them to switch over from a P5 game to a UNT football game.

2016: Please lord, make Littrell the guy who gets it for us. We have been clowned 3 times now since the early 00's... Just let Littrell bring us that 2013-in-your-face feeling again!

DENTON - University of North Texas Director of Athletics Rick Villarreal has announced that Dan McCarney has been relieved of his duties as head football coach effective immediately. An interim coach for the remainder of the season will be named at a later time. A national search for his replacement will begin immediately.

"This is a really a tough decision, but after a complete evaluation of the University of North Texas football program, we have decided to make a change at head coach," Villarreal said. "I will always cherish my relationship with coach McCarney and he's done nothing but great things for us in his time here, but we felt like this was the best thing we needed to do for the program moving forward."

"The people here at North Texas are great, we couldn't have been embraced or supported any better during my time here," said McCarney. "Obviously we have been really struggling lately, and Rick (Villarreal) felt it was in his best interests with the University and the athletic department and the football program to go another direction. I will always be grateful to President Rawlins, Rick and President Smatresk for this opportunity."

McCarney was 22-32 in his four plus seasons with North Texas and led the Mean Green to the 2014 Heart of Dallas Bowl Championship.

    AND WE"RE KEEPING OUR A.D.???????

  5. Two years. Let me repeat that...Two Years!!

Two years from now, things are going to be a lot different around here. We're gonna' look around and wonder how far we've come in such little time. It's gonna' make the wasted time of the Dodge era seem even more disgraceful. But all of that is going to be in our rear-view mirror. This football team is headed in the right direction and with a lot of force.

There's gonna' be some setbacks. We're going to lose some games we should have won and this board will blow up for a bit. We may get some injuries that knock us off track for a bit. But when we look around in about TWO YEARS, things are gonna' be looking pretty good.

For now, enjoy the minimal traffic problems. Enjoy having plenty of leg room to spread out. Enjoy the short lines at concessions and restrooms. Take in the last few moments of listening to your co-workers be dismissive or "meh" at your MEAN GREEN, because things are about to change.

As this forum's title says..."Coach Mac is our leader and will take us to the promised land". We are starting to see the signs of this and in about two more years, it'll really begin to shine BRIGHT GREEN! Mark it!!

    Great post, i agree wholeheartedly!!!
