All I could hear was the never ending voice of Tim Crouch either telling me what I already know...or what I didn't want to know.

    Rob Coffey where are you?

    Rick

He's still here, they just need to can this guy and give the job to Rob.

Oh, please tell me someone gave the poor kids nachos!

Since it was another beating, maybe they were thinking of you? Like, "Let's not make the loyal season ticket holder suffer, let's make some snotty kids watch the game just so they know how life really is..."

    Or something like that.

Could be, maybe they saw how many times I rolled my eyes or shook my head in disbelief from the last game. Now I feel all better.

  3. The new AD is going to evaluate the program likely for the entire season as I believe that's what they said they would do. Mosley played college basketball and has thus far attended every men's home game. He sits next to our bench so he can hear everything that's going on. Benford is likely here the remainder of this season unless there is some point at which we no longer would owe him any money.

  4. Clemson comes out breathing fire and their defense keeps UNC off the board in the first quarter. In the second quarter, UNC drives the ball at will between the 20s but has to settle for three field goals. Score at half, Clemson 21 - UNC 9.

The scene opens with the interior of the UNC dressing room. The players, seated with blankets draped over their shoulders, are dejected and silent. The door pushes open and Littrell walks in. They look at Littrell in mute apology, then guiltily away, as if to avoid his eyes. His dark-circled eyes range over the players for a full moment of unbroken silence. Then, quietly, as if the game didn't matter to him:

Littrell: Well, boys ... I haven't a thing to say.  Played a great game...all of you. Great game.

(He tries to smile.)  I guess we just can't expect to win ‘em all.  (Littrell pauses and says quietly).  I'm going to tell you something I've kept to myself for years -- None of you ever knew George Gipp.  It was long before your time.  But you know what a tradition he is at UNC...

(There is gentle, faraway look in his eyes as he recalls the boy's words).  And the last thing he said to me -- "Litty," he said - "sometime, when the team is up against it -- and the breaks are beating the boys -- tell them to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Gipper...

(Littrell's eyes become misty and his voice is unsteady as he finishes).  I don't know where I'll be then, Litty", he said - "but I'll know about it - and I'll be happy."

There is a hushed stillness as Littrell and the crowd of boys look at each other. In the midst of this tense silence, Littrell quietly says "Alright," to the men beside him, and he walks slowly out of the dressing room.

PLAYER # 12:  Well, what are we waiting for? Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Let's kick some Clemson ass!

With a single roar, the players throw off their blankets and rush through the doorway.

UNC's defense holds Clemson scoreless in the third quarter and Littrell's play-calling wizardry gets 14 points on the board for UNC. In the fourth quarter, with the clock running down and UNC behind 28 - 23, Littrell calls a quarterback draw on 3rd and 9 from the Clemson 22 yard line...the play is stuffed and time runs out.

Littrell addresses the team and says "Ya'll can go to hell...I'm going to North Texas!".

  5. I wonder if we have the money, or can we find it, to buy out another contract. Also, is there someone on staff capable of holding an interim position for the rest of the year? I'd hate to lose some of these players because we end up so bad that they see it as a hopeless situation. Regardless, something needs to be done.

  6. What was so great watching this game in person was watching how Jalie handled the team when they lost a twelve point lead to go down two late.  No panic...just a look of confidence that she was in control and the players knew it.  These ladies play some tough defense and move the ball with a much more up tempo style than the last few years.  They are fun to watch.  Doing this with nine players...playing an up tempo style and tough defense can take it out of a team with limited substitutes.  Not these ladies.  They play!  Proud of these ladies.  Great win tonight!  So much fun seeing them leave the court with such big smiles on their faces.

As has been said before...these ladies deserve to have more folks come out in support.  They are earning that respect.  Here's hoping the Mean Green Nation respond.

Agreed. I took in my first women's game of the season tonight and I love the way Jalie handles the game. She's always composed even when she needs to chew a little tail. These ladies are vastly improved over last year and they deserve our full support.

  7. I think 106k in the DFW market is great for the Mean Green. What's even better is that Ga-Neb kicked off at the same time and we beat the ratings for that game by 40k in the DFW market. Surely there were tons of potential recruits that saw our game.
