  1. So this looked a LOT different than what we've seen the last several years. I don't want to over estimate anything based on the opponent, but we should be much improved over last season. Overall the team looks in better shape physically, Lampkin is in really good shape and looked quicker and more energetic. Mallard got back on the court and also looked pretty good but may have a little more work to do. Cleary looks more confident shooting the ball. I'm too lazy to look up the new player names but we've added some size, depth and some shooters. #20 and #12 look to be good 3 pt shooters. What I can say for sure is we will be better, and are already better offensively. We are now playing a very high tempo game and its fun to watch. What I liked the most was the depth. I think I counted 13 players that got significant minutes and everyone was able to contribute in some way. In years past I felt like we had some players that never showed as D1 performers, but I didn't see any of that tonight. I also like the way Coach Burton handles the officials, seems like he knows when and how to complain about calls if that makes sense.
  2. Here are my thoughts on what I saw today through my admittedly green tinted glasses. Rubin and A Scott played as expected but A Scott was a bit more aggressive on the offensive end than he was last year. Sissoko wasn't bad but didn't have his best game, maybe in part because Allen also played a lot. Stone played well defensively but had a couple of gaffs on offense. I was impressed with all of the transfers. Allen had an impressive game in the post on both sides of the ball. He's handy around the basket and is a good rebounder. It wouldn't surprise me if he ends up starting or at least splitting time with Sissoko. Buggs and Edwards are very good 3 pt shooters and will be a problem to defend. I think Edwards had 16 pts and Buggs had 9. CJ Noland(sp?) is a big boy on the perimeter. He did hit one 3 but his game kinda resembles Rubin's offensively, less of a jump shooter and more likely to drive the basket. Overall, its hard to say how good we will be after one exhibition game against SHSU, but I am very optimistic. The defense is still there and I think the offense will be improved over last season. We have a solid 8 man rotation where all 8 guys can actually contribute on both ends of the court. Lots of hustle on defense, diving for loose balls and the new guys have bought in.
  3. I cant stand Scott Pera and his incredibly punchable face.
  4. Yep, my daughter grew up in Denton and played college soccer. She could have played at numerous schools in Texas but she wanted to get out and do her own thing. Same thing for several of her friends that played football, basketball, softball, etc at various Denton area high schools.
  5. Football scoop reporting same
  6. I’ve been leaning towards Fuente or Carthel this whole time, but after reading about Keelers background I could get behind him as coach if he still has the passion for it. His resume is damned impressive.
  7. I did enjoy the game but your comment is exactly what I was talking about. Going 6-6 is not a good season regardless of how you get there.
  8. I can’t believe so many people here are happy with a 6-6 season. Great win, but it’s too little, too late for me. It’s not like we’re in the SEC, we’re in CUSA and quite often this year we weren’t just beat, we were outclassed by other CUSA teams. It’s time to raise our expectations and demand more from the football program.
  9. Someday I hope we teach our db’s to turn and look for the ball.
  10. Looking forward to seeing more Ragsdale and Johnson at rb the rest of the season and moving forward.
  11. I refuse to believe Aune is the best qb we have. If he is, our coaches should be fired just on that premise alone.
  12. I love sarcasm but why would you put that out in the universe? Shame on you sir!
  13. I feel like we just won the tallest midget contest.
  14. Because we weren’t punting…haven’t you been watching?
  15. Never said we weren’t bad, but I know unbalanced officiating when I see it. If you knew half as much as you pretend to know you’d understand that coaches can influence how a game is called.
  16. Maybe one of our rb’s can actually throw the ball….let’s do it.
  17. Rice coaches working the refs and getting the calls every time. Meanwhile, the refs seem to just ignore coach mumbles. All the close calls have gone the wrong way so far. I know we are undisciplined but those two unsportsmanlike calls happen every week and are rarely called.
  18. Every QB on the roster should get some playing time so long as they do not play in more than four games. Even if we somehow win out this season is lost. We need to see if anyone has any real potential. I wouldn’t be shy about doing the same for other positions as well.
  19. ‘if he has a good agent he stays at FCD until the July transfer window…..always more money available in the summer.
