Who was the Master of Ceremony at the Kickoff?

Guessing there will be a lot more tickets sold than butts in seats. People just aren't going to go sit in the heat...unless we are very lucky and get a big change in the weather. I'll be there no matter what.

Did you answer Q or Coo?
I was quite surprised that the dignitaries were pronouncing it "Q". It doesn't matter, but when I see DATCU, I read it as Dat-Coo.
Oh, and by the way, I never thought anything about TCU in the name until folks started bringing it up on here.

Don’t people say “Dat Coo”?
Yes. I would think that's how media/announcers would say it.

I just like being a member of a club vs. being on a list of donors.

Students have to be the #1 target. We can't continue to add to the numbers of "lost" alumni. Even a marginal increase in the number of engaged students will pay big dividends in the future since students are continually turning over. I go to all of these events like Spring game, kickoff event, new coach introductions, pre-bowl things. Everyone there is over 50. I'm concerned there's not going to be anyone to support and fund this thing when we're gone. It's imperative to inject some youth into our fanbase.

Is it just me or does he have a rather unorthodox throwing motion?

I don't think doubling down on a trend (TX Outline) is a way to build a better brand that stands out. It's an overused look that dozens and dozens of Texas high school and colleges use. I don't mind it as an alternative logo for merch, but we're leaning too hard on it, IMO.
I couldn't agree more. That's a cheap look + on helmets, the SOW inside the Texas shape is so small you can't tell what it is on TV or from the stands.

6-6
FIU, LaTech, ACU, Temple, Tulsa
+ one of Cal, Navy or UAB.
Possible 5-1 start, then things get rough.

And their lowest ticket price to that dump is $18!
Actually, I really like how that place traps the sound. If we do end up building a new facility, I hope they can engineer things so it sounds loud like that.

Got there about a quarter 'til 6. Ended up being around 8 of us. Our crowd at the game, on the other hand, very impressive. Probably about a quarter of the total crowd were MG fans. Coach was thanking everyone after the game.

I've never been to Tudor (Tooter) Fieldhouse, wonder how much their ushers care? I bought the cheapest GA tickets in Ruston last year, then ended up moving behind the bench with the rest of the UNT fans with ease.
We went there a couple of years ago. I don't remember any seat Nazis. You'll prob be ok.

Any more ideas on pregame? Someone mentioned Little Woodrow's. It's at Rice Village next to where The Gingerman used to be.

Anyone found any better priced tickets than $18 GA? Looks like before gameday, GA is $15 online but the ticket fees add $2 each and you have to download a Ticketbastard extension for Rice tickets, similar to Dickies Arena.
Nope. I'm planning on getting the Sec. 211, row A ones for $25 + fees (behind our bench).

Saw the story this a.m. Nice work Emmitt.

Dumb that they have made all lower bowl seats reserved. If there was demand for all those north-end seats, fine. But there's not. Those need to go back to GA.

Stop amateur hour on in-game stuff. I was at the basketball game last night and three things were complete fails because whoever is in charge doesn't give a crap...t-shirt cannon, kiss-cam and that awful dice roll thing.
Someone needs to take this stuff seriously to make it fun and keep it from being a laughing stock. As I mentioned in an earlier thread, send someone to a Stars game to see how it's supposed to work.

Glad the students showed up. But they were kind of quiet, I remember that whole section would be standing up and rowdy as can be.
It's the style of play. It's so freakin' boring. The crowd cannot get into that.

Anyone else coming to the Hub Club tonight?

They have got to get him in front of students, "lost alumni", local community, etc. I'm sure they're doing that. He gets you fired up. So much better than coach mumbles.
