  1. According to one of the stories about the game, the RB who scored two of their TD's (Walker) is their second string RB.

Not trying to take a shot at you, SilverEagle, just quoting the post to set up my point.

Two years ago, Jamario was our second string RB. Then, Cobbs got hurt and he won the national rushing championship.

Second string doesn't necessarily mean second-rate.

  2. Had UNT, Troy, or FIU opened against the same 4 teams as Rutgers they would also be 4-0.

Sept. 2, 2006 at North Carolina

    Sept. 9, 2006 Illinois

    Sept. 16, 2006 Ohio

    Sept. 23, 2006 Howard

I think that if we played the same schedule, we'd probably be 2-2, or maybe still just 1-3. Illinois and UNC are pretty lousy teams for their conferences, but they still play Big 10 and ACC ball. I don't think Troy or FIU would be much better.

But, even if any of the three pulled off the 4-0 start, it still wouldn't result in a top 25 ranking. Congrats to Rutgers on the hot start... but I think they're being graded on a curve.

  3. Maybe this will, if not silence, at least quiet one of the biggest B.S. questions thrown around on this board.

Who cares about winning the Sun Belt?

RECRUITS. Guys like Dawson, who has stepped in not just admirably, but EXCEPTIONALLY for arguably our best defensive player. He passed up a Big 12 offer that was perhaps better than what we offered him. Even if it's a rationalization rather than a reason for coming here, he at least says that the conference championships were a factor.

  4. Interesting post, but nothing else matters unless we start winning OOC games... period! If not, Troy is a shoe in. We have something special in Woody, which could change everything...he is the missing piece of puzzle... assuming he remains injury free. Kudos to DD & Co for the QB find. I still can’t believe no one picked him up after Arkansas lost interest.

As anyone sitting near me on Saturday heard- I love Woody. But maybe we should slow down the groundbreaking on his pedestal. I half expect to log on to the board and see the photoshoppers move on from Uncle Sam to Jesus.

I'm very excited, too... but let the guy get his second win before we start pinning our CUSA hopes on him.

  5. I hadn't heard a thing about him in the preseason. He looked like one of the best players we had out there. He was always around the ball.

Pistole looked pretty good in terms of pursuit and awareness on the last drive. His attempt at Center and the hustle he showed in garbage time is pretty encouraging.

Wow... Welcome to GoMeanGreen.com, man. Get ready to read the same 3 stories about stuff that happened (or, ALMOST/SHOULD HAVE happened) decades ago. At least this SMU game is from 1990, when everyone on this board was alive. That's relatively recent history compared to some of the things you're going to read.

Also, to help you get up to speed:

-The University of Texas is not to be supported

    -Darrell Dickey is the anti-Christ

-Kansas State and SMU are working together in a vast shadow conspiracy to undermine our athletic program and destroy the charming/slummy history of Fry Street

-UTEP, USF, UCF, Boise State, Texas State, Appalachian State, and the North Dakota School of Hair and Nail Care are all rocketing past us in Division 1-A Football. It's Darrell Dickey's fault, or Lee Jackson's. Depends on which authority you weren't asking, but decided to tell you anyway.

-Whatever you do, DO NOT CRITICIZE Ramon Flanagan. Just don't do it. It may look like he can't organize an attack ON the field, but he can be far more aggressive off of it.

There's a lot more you need to know, but you'll have to pick it up on your own. Just remember: Quinn + Boner = Quoner. It's a mathematical fact.

  7. Isn't Dallas the recruiting area for Ramon Flanagan?  I am sure that in a few weeks those numbers will swell now that the season is over and he commits his full attention to recruiting.

You'd better not say that again to his face... He's a little sensitive.

I'm not a sky-is-fallen fan, I'm optimistic about next year and I"m glad to have Dickey on as head coach. But the only thing I really want to see Flanagan recruit is a new employer.

  8.  The Eagle Angel Organization is of great importance to the football program. They do not get paid and do this purely for the benefit of the program. Their help is appreciated by the coaching staff and a big reason as to why we have the success we have had the past couple of years.

See, people? Forget all this Dickey and Flanagan bashing. FIRE THE EAGLE ANGELS! THIS YEAR IS ALL THEIR FAULT!!

I've never had any sort of personal encounter with them. I understand their purpose... But I don't understand what makes them say or do the things I've read about on this board. Even taken with a grain of industrial sized internet salt, the stories about derogatory comments made in front of recruits make me wonder how much good is actually done by the Angels.

Play the human barricade if you have to, but why trash ANYTHING about the program in front of recruits? It makes no sense to me.
