Also noted in today's paper that Tulane announced that 6 of their BB players will transfer at the end of the year.

He was one of my football idols way back in his A&M days. Still can remember Kern Tipps calling the Aggie games " and Jack Pardee is having a Par--ty".

Just a thought, now that the Big East consist of 7 basketball schools, some with no football programs, and no football programs at the FCS level, What will happen with the Big East's automatic BCS qualifier. Will it automatically go to the new conference, will it become non existent ? Will it be awarded to CUSA ?

I think the NCAA should allow schools to sign kids to LOI between June 1st and August 1st prior to their Sr. year in High School. Most of the major schools would be finished with their recruiting and the kids could attend to business without the constant interference . No need to worry about students switching schools at the last minute or schools withdrawing offers. Perhaps, if the head coach leaves before the Feb. commitment date all players that have commited to that school can switch schools , however the school cannot decline to honor an offer already made.

With the new academic requirements in place, more and more high schools players will go the JC route. This will make recruiting the JC kids much more important . It will be interesting to see how many HS kids will find at the last minute this year that they not eligible to accept scholarships to 4 yr. Schools.

Any difference for a preferred walk on ? What is the plus for a grey shirt? Can he practice with the team?
No he cannot practice with the team.
-
It has to be either the Big East or the Lone Star Conference.

Interesting article in the Dallas paper this AM on the new academic standards for incoming freshman this year. The article says that the projection is that 10% of the recruited freshman will fail to meet the new standards and will have to sit out next year or attend a JC to gain the necessary standards.

What is the difference from a preferred walk on and a grey shirt ?
Coming from high school which would rather have offered?
How many red shirts do we have from last years class?
How many preferred walk ons and grey shirts do we have from last years class?
Thanks .... GMG
A walk on can join the team in the fall, a limited few can participate in pre-school practice. A Greyshirt cannot join the team until the second semester, they are given scholarships at that time, the first semester they pay their own way.

Back in the late 60's, my college team as a youth (UH) had a defensive end about the same speed, same height with a little more weight named Jerry Drones, ie, part of their "Mad Dog" defense. He made some All American teams in 1969 as I recall.
So......John Woods as a defensive end possibility?
Nevertheless......Welcome to Mean Green Country, Mr. Woods! We are one dysfunctional family of opinion at times but all of whom wanting one thing back at UNT again..............winning ranked football teams with even more bowl appearances and....bowl wins.
GMG!
A San Angelo stud, finished his college career at WT then played for the LA Rams.

Tech plays defense? Someone needs to remind Woods where their emphasis lies.
Seems to me that A&M played def. this year. Why not TT ?

And we thought we were leaving the Sun Belt.

Tuberville is classless. Pulling offers is bad enough, but not telling the kids is inexcuseable. Kingsberry, at Tech, has pulled some offers to kids Tuberville offered, however he called them as soon as he could.

Considering A&M has 34 commits listed, I would expect a few more to fall by the wayside.
Some of those have already enrolled at A&M , they will be counted with the 2011 class. Also one did not qualify academically and has committed to OU . I am sure there will a few more who don't qualify.

If I had a say in things Ark. State is the school that should have been admitted to CUSA. Their supporters have always traveled well.
-
evidently, especially your defensive coordinator
Art Briles has not done badly since he moved to college.

Look for #26 for the Louisville Cardinals, Zed Evans, playing tonight in the Sugar Bowl against Florida on ESPN. He will be transferring here following the completion of the Sugar Bowl game and hopefully will be a key contributor in 2013 to the Mean Green.
He will have to sit out next year, unless he is graduating this year.
-
Didn't he withdraw from school right after the incident ? Either way he would have to lay out of football for a year.

Is the MWC that much better than CUSA? I just do not see the point in Houston or SMU, or anyone else wanting to leave CUSA for MWC. Am I crazy or are they? CUSA would be even better if SMU and Houston were back. More Texas the better!
Also no way in hell do they want UTSA!
Yet they accepted Texas Pan-Am ?

DKR had the same philosophy at UT.

Since we're on it...anyone want to take a stab at naming the mom mst recent (to my knowledge anyway) collegiate athlete who played 5 full seasons at the college level?
I'm sure there are several who have taken advantage of the new 4 yr. graduate and transfer rule, the one that comes to mind is the Wilson kid who is now the QB at Seattle.
-
So then wouldn't transfers count as mid term too?
This is how A&M has 34 comitts so far.
Right and A&M is enrolling several of them at Semester.
