A.J. Lawson remembers looking up to J-Mychal Reese when he was about to embark on his high school career a few years ago. Lawson thought the Bryan High senior was a heck of a player when he was still in middle school. Those memories played a key role in UNT landing Lawson, a guard/small forward ranked among the best players in Texas in the Class of 2016, over the weekend. Reese, who is entering his junior season at UNT after transferring from Texas A&M, hosted Lawson on his official visit. The Bryan High senior committed to play for the Mean Green on Sunday after seeing UNT’s campus. “I liked watching the way Reese led the team,” Lawson said. “He led the team to district titles and playoff runs.
