  1. Having to be on the SMU sidelines week to week, I think we should consider OL coach Adrian Klemm. Dude is great at on the fly adjustments and getting through to his guys. He is a big part of June's recruiting team and with NFL experience and 3 SB rings with the Pats, he is the type of guy who could handle the media aspect of being a HC. I would hire this guy in a second. I am sure I will get ripped now for working for SMU radio, but hey it helps pay the bills....sort of.

  2. It makes perfect sense. I think you are trying to say, "I don't think that's the way it should be done." That's fine, but as the sports director it is my job to teach the volunteer students that if it is possible to get word from a coach and player, they need to go out, retrieve it and bring it back to the studio for editing. Once edited, they can use it on the air. However, if they don't abide by my rule, their story doesn't make the cut.

It's not like we missed NT football the entire week. Sometimes there are stories that need to be mentioned more, sometimes not. Maybe this was the case, maybe it wasn't. Nonetheless, I don't know how to stress anymore to the community that we have constant coverage of the team. If the community cannot see that, I suggest visiting kntu.com and listening to 88.1 FM a little bit more.

you are flat wrong here. also, you are a paid student too....so let's not act like you are a professor. Audio or no you should ALWAYS lead with NT or a big local story. I have been in your position and understand how stuff rolls up there, not having audio is no excuse to not have NT football leading Late Edition Sports.

  3. Sports Director for KNTU here.

We pay to use Associated Press copy. However, I do understand there is absolutely no excuse for not having a story about NT football on the sportscast. The anchor for Friday's broadcast did not have the original audio from coaches and players. I tell my volunteers to not run a NT story unless we have a Dodge clip and/or player clip. Therefore, if you feel the need to blame anyone for this, don't blame anybody but myself.

Also, we have dramatically increased our coverage of other NT sports for the sportscast. I encourage everyone to tune in at 5:30 each weekday.

    Thanks everyone, go Mean Green!

As a KNTU alum, you should have your reporters and anchors writing their own copy if possible. Having audio DOES NOT MATTER, always lead with NT or a significant local story. Ripping and reading is cheap. You are the sports director, you and your staff should be better than that. If the reporters and anchors are so lazy they can't generate original copy, then find someone else who will. Just my advice.

  4. Well, it is Greggo.

Wasn't he on your show when you were in high school?

He was probably broadcasting on your radio station, also.

Right on both counts and he royally fucked up. I forgot because I am 28 and am not some jack-wagon that throws rocks on a message board - I haven't a clue what I talk about every day and get paid for.

  5. Rangers have 72 wins with 36 left to play. Go 20-16 and they hit Nolan's magic number. Go 19-17 and they hit my predicition of 91 wins. They are +2 on my 91 win pace now.

Anaheim/California has 63 wins with 34 left to play. They would have to go 28-6 to get to 91 wins.

Oakland has 63 wins with 37 left to play. They would have to go 28-9 to get to 91 wins.

It's pretty simple. Play slightly above .500 ball the rest of the way and the Rangers probably clinch this division a week and a half before the playoffs start.

The wild card in all of this is the Rangers have 7 games left against the A's and 7 left against the Angels. go 3-4 or better against both these teams in these games and this thing is Church.

why are we constantly reminded about the pace you set for the club??

  6. It's just about surviving the injuries and getting to September 1 up 6 or 7 games with Kinsler and Cruz healthy. Crazy we might add Hawpe later today.

Also, back to MVP talk. It's going to come down to Hamilton and Mauer, and I think it's going to get closer than we think as Hamilton hits a few more weeks without protection while Mauer enjoys a fully operational battle station after a few months without Morneau.

Hawpe won't clear waivers until Mon. or Tues. from what I hear.

  7. Don't underestimate the addition of Coach Chico and an influx of more talented players compared to the last time we visited Ford. Call it blind faith or overimbibing in the green kool-aid, but I believe this is the year we begin the climb to respectability and by the time the SMUt series resumes, we will be putting more talent on the field than our silver spoon friends in University Park.

Of course, if I'm wrong, I'll take my lumps. ;)

I do hope you are right, but as of now June Jones is going to win some recruiting battles.

  8. I happened to hear Cooperstein this morning. He was actually saying that since balls and strikes can't be argued, throwing at the plate umpire is the only way a team has to get it's point across.

    Throwing at the umpire?!?!?!?!

What's next? If the first base ump misses a call, the next batter runs out of the baseline to mow down the 1st base ump?

I really hope he is wrong about this.

Coop said this? He was probably kidding around.
