  1. You have probably heard that good hand washing is a great way to prevent the spread of disease (including the flu and the new coronavirus) and that you should be washing your hands for about 20 seconds each time. The conventional recommendation is to sing the "Happy Birthday" song twice and that will be about 20 seconds.

    I have a better suggestion.

Sing the first part of the UNT Fight Song (up to the "U...N...T...Eagles" part) and that is about 20 seconds.

GO MEAN GREEN! (and stay healthy)

My understanding this will be built in the park area between where all the RV's park on game day and the road.  Which is why it upsets me on a selfish level.  I love parking my trailer there and letting the kids play all day on game day.  That said I don't come to enough games to truly be upset but as it currently stands UNT has the best tailgaiting areas of any school. I just hate to see that messed with.

There's a pretty wide area to the west of the RV parking strip along the edge of the parking lot. The new facility and the current tailgating setup are not mutually exclusive.

Troughs were replaced at Fouts a long time ago by the waterless urinals.  How soon we forget.

Maybe the bus stop building includes bathrooms and we'll soon find out which vintage urinal from the past was also saved in the construction.

I always kinda wonder...what other ways do people get their names on buildings at their alma mater if they aren’t rich.

Like, I want my name on a UNT building, but I’m not a member of the bourgeoisie. If I rescue a bunch of kids from a burning school bus in the name of UNT, will that do it, or is the only recipe cold, hard, cash?

Heard one time that you needed to donate at least half the cost of a building to get your name on it.

So ... maybe there is a garden shed somewhere on campus waiting for your donation?

Among many listed above....beating Tech in Fouts-West out in Lubbuttocks and Crushing Rice in Houston, both SWC schools while we were an FCS program at the time.

I wish I could have been to one of the Tech games, but never could.

I did get to see the Rice win back then. That was also a great win given the conference situation at the time.

LOL. I was there. That game was less "iconic" as much as it was a study in misery. I remember we stormed the field after that game. We less stormed it for the win and more because we were glad the game was over with haha.

My seats were around the 45 yard line, so I stayed put, but I enjoyed watching the die-hard crowd who remained and dutifully marched from one end of the stands to the other as they switched endzones after each overtime.

  7. I was fortunate enough to be in the stands at Arkansas to watch Peter Pan fly, which got me thinking about the iconic moments in Mean Green Football that I also got to see in person. My list is below (approximate reverse chronological order). What is on yours?

    - "The Return" or Peter Pan flies at Arkansas
    - The Drive versus UTSA
    - The Heart of Dallas win over UNLV
    - The Stand versus Rice
    - The NCAA record scoring game (at the time) loss against Navy
    - The seven overtimes win against FIU
    - The New Orleans Bowl victory over Cincinnati
    - The amazing home game against New Mexico State to clinch our 2nd N.O. Bowl
    - The Brawl at the end of the first half against SMU in 1990 and the subsequent win

I like that the idea of naming a non athletic building after Mean Joe Greene. I’ll be bold and say that most student athletes would be aware of who he is. Non student athletes who don’t know who he is may look up his history out of curiosity, based on the fact that they live in the dorm. A perfect opportunity to spread athletic culture and history.

I agree. He was a great athlete, but he was also the first African-American regent for the university and his contributions to UNT go beyond what he did on the field.

At some point the Frisco campus will be a stand-a-lone campus. If memory serves, UTD was intended to offer classes only for juniors and seniors to supplement local  community  colleges and then evolved into a 4 year university.

The provost told the Faculty Senate yesterday that there is no plan to make Frisco a stand-alone university.  The goal is to make this an extension of the main campus like Discovery Park, but very much connected to the main campus rather than an independent university.
