  1. We have had problems with the parking lot police in the blue lot as well. I have made the suggestion to the powers that be several times to just have one row of parking spots reserved for those last minutes stragglers and let the rest of us park wherever we want.

The Blue lot is the place to be for tailgating. I think the Beerman needs to be moved to the green lot.

  2. Coach Archie is a class act. When he was here before he cared about his players and they liked and repected him. With as much upheaval as there has been this past year in the football program, I think it would be great to have him back. He would bring some stability to back to the program. I think it is a plus that he played for UNT and he bleeds green.

  3. I did.

Venegas played his last game at Fouts tonight. We will have the luxury of having Chad Rose for one more season.

    Rick

I guess FFR is the only person that has noticed Chad Rose has been starting at left guard since ULala. Last night and during the Navy game he switched from left guard to center while Drake was getting his ankle taped and then back to left guard.

  4. But some head coaches believe in keeping their assistant coaches away from the press. When Tom Coughlin was in Jacksonville, none of the other coaches were allowed to do interviews. His rationale was that he wanted the organization to speak in one voice.

I can buy the organization having one voice. If that is the way Dodge wants it, then don't put the players in the situation with the media he put them in Saturday night.

  5. [quote name='moffat' date= Vizza wasn't thrown the press wolves after his first game. Oh, that's right, Vizza is Dodge's boy.

. In fact, might some of his early committs already give those who can read with those good UNT educations a rather big clue, Oh, BTW, one of those early recruits is a Texas State Top 100 QB.

I seem to remember that some of the recruits over the past 4 years have been on the Top 100 Texas recruits lists as well. My how quickly some forget.

. To some of you who don't have the ear or "first name basis" of this present UNT coaching staff, get over it and just join the rest of us fans, OK?

Are you on a first name basis or have the ear of the present UNT coaching staff? If so, you might want to have a talk with them about taking this defense from being ranked in the 60s last year to the bottom of the heap this year.

Oh, and once again, we come around to the education card. Again, I say, education is the key. Some of you might remember that these football players are going to be UNT alum. The way some of you talk about them, (cancers to be cut out comes to mind) if I were them I am not sure Iwould want to be associated in the alum group with some of you. I have said it in another post, once these players graduate, go out into the world and become contributing adults to society, you are going to want them to come back as proud alum and contribute to UNT. They have provided you with hours of entertainment on Saturday and you never disappoint the day after the game with bashing them because they didn't live up to your expectations. Well, guess what, it isn't about you!!!!

I haven't watched football at UNT as long as some of you but I have learned there are two types of fans at UNT and I know there are those who think it is all about them and there are those fans who come to the games, support the team win or lose and appreciate the student athletes for being there and providing sports entertainment.

  6. Anyone who has coached knows the emotions and feelings running through your system after a loss or when your specific unit cost the team a chance at victory. It's an absolutely sickening feeling! Mendoza is an emotional guy who shows a lot of fire,

Okay. I understand now. The adults who haven't played can go to the locker room and lick their wounds while the players who have played their hearts out and have these same emotions and feelings especially that sickening feeling have to sit in front of the press and answer the hard questions. As someone said earlier in this post it shows the maturity of the players to sit in front of the press and answer the hard questions after a loss while the adult coaches who get paid get to go hide in the locker room because they're emotional with a lot of fire. Might help the defense if Mendoza could motivate his players to have some of his fire and emotion.

Vizza wasn't thrown the press wolves after his first game. Oh, that's right, Vizza is Dodge's boy.

  7. Is there anything to read into this? I admire the way TD handled himself in this interview, though don't totally agree with him holding RM back.

I read into this that Dodge is throwing his defensive players under the bus and not making his DC accountable. Doesn't it bother any of you that Dodge would put his defensive players who are young people and just played and lost in front of the press and not put his DC who is the adult and gets paid to coach out in front of the press to answer the hard questions? It bothers me.

  8. I don't remember who did it, but I remember I assume this must be the same incident because if there were two like that in one game, well that wouldn't be good. I was glad to hear a player do it, and not leave it to a coach every time.

Okay, so I want to get the rules straight here. It is okay for player to yell profanity at another player but early this week posters were outraged because profanity was yelled on the sidelines? Why weren't the coaches trying to "redirect" the player who was yelling profanity at his teammate?

  9. 99% of the athletes at North Texas have no idea what the University has to offer outside of academics and where they need to be for practice and meetings. Maybe DG wouldn't have gone to the NAACP if he had known there was an office in the University system he could have gone to with his complaint. Once again, posters are passing judgement on players on this board without all the facts or knowing the entire story. I don't know about ya'll but all my life I have been told you can't believe everything you read in the newspaper, hear on the radio or see on TV.

  10. Thanks KBJ for having the guts to post what you did. Other than you. FFR John Denver and a few others, everyone else on this board wants to throw the players that have been here for 4 and 5 years under the bus or out of the program. You people have no idea what these guys have been through since they came to North Texas. I can tell you the last couple of years for these guys have been really rough. They expected a new coach and coaching staff to come in here and things to be different.

Well, guess what, the faces have changed but the actions are the same.

If any of you question them about the program, they aren't going to tell you what goes on behind the scenes. They are going to smile and tell you things are great. These players are men and they are handling situations like MEN. So many of these guys have done everything they have been asked to do by the previous coaching staff and this one. They go to class, they make good grades, they don't get in trouble, they try to be examples for the younger guys, they don't complain, they have played through injuries and they have been 2, 3 and 4 year starters. And guess what. They are riding the bench without any explanation as to why. And again, I say, walk up to any of them and ask them about Dodge or the coaching staff or the program and they will smile and having nothing but nice things to say.

And stop calling them Dickey's boys. Go back and read their bios. They were the best in their UIL districts too. But these young men are not Dickey's boys or Dodge's boys. They are the University of North Texas football players. They came to play football for the University of North Texas not a coach. They came to the University of North Texas to get a good education, go out into the real world and come back one day and be fans and support their university.

After listening to the way so called fans on this board bash players, if I were these players, I wouldn't come back and I wouldn't give a dime of my money to North Texas.

  11. I know he is injured. It seemed TD seemed to think of him highly before this. Is there any chance he returns this year? Any word on him. We could use some pressure off the edge.

I hope he medical red shirts this year so we can have him for an entire year next year - we need him

  12. Robertson is likely the fastest linebacker and if they are looking for speed then why not play Mahan more? He was something like our fifth leading tackler last year and has some pretty good wheels.

I would bet the bank Mahan could out run any linebacker on the team. He has 3rd leading tackller @ OU, than seems not to be given any time at LB since then. Why not play our proven players with experience instead of buring the red shirts? Also Germaine Dawson has all but disapeared...
