Just speculation on my part, but I think Seth is out. Wren’s swan song.
Wren fires the coach and doesn't worry at all about replacing him before he's gone? I'm not sure about that...

Pretty sure he was with the first post. Well, not trolling, but being sarcastic. I mean, have never read any of his other posts? Like most on here, he doesn’t seem to be a big SL fan.
Picking up the sarcasm from North Texas We Love is more obvious than solving a Captcha puzzle. I wonder how many other bots post here.

That alone should spell SL’s demise.
If you are the President of North Texas and realize you are this far behind San Antonio Community College in ANYTHING, you make a change immediately.I think its funny that coach after coach after coach - you still think it is the coaches fault...

If you think the right direct is a small amplitude sine wave along 0.500 line you would be correct. (Can you tell I am an Electronics Engineering graduate?).
Yes. Sine waves are repetitive and predictable.

Does it seem odd that Aune is throwing most balls side arm? I haven’t seen that much all year but until now.
Odd time to change things up.
the play calling is highly suspect too. Besides some of the obvious, what the hell was up with that option play before our field goal??
I also did not like the 3rd down run call before UTSA scored at the end of the half. It didn't make any sense other than to force UTSA to burn one of their 3 time outs....

Our offense has looked very creative, so far. The INT and clock stuff at the end was awful.

What is happening here? Why is the clock operator in San Antonio so bad? We dealt with this shit last game, too.

How was that fumble not marked at the spot of the fumble?

You say that and I think that is a reasonable way to see it. However one could also say that things were improving and trending in the right direction.
More importantly, that team still beat NT. By 31 points. That happened. And it is as much part of the season as NTs 5-3 conference record.
NT has a 6-2 conference record. that loss sucks. I think there is an expectation from ADs that if you cannot win conference games, it’s time to go, regardless of overall record.
ADs have a short fuse for that stuff because they have to see the same opponent ADs year after year. I’m sure at an AD level, that becomes a bit of a competition when you work with them on a day-to-day working level. -

I'm sure there were plenty of seasons where one division champ lost to someone in the other division that didn't make it...
The rules are this way this year. WKU has no claim that they should have been in the championship game after losing to both UTSA and UNT. If we there were divisions, WKU would have backed into a championship game this year. There are players that played hard to kick the crap out of WKU. This was earned.

How many other teams in CUSA think UNT lucked into the championship game? And that if it weren’t for our luck their coach would have “earned” a spot in UNTs position.

I think people read these things and get mad at SL, when there is really someone else they should be getting mad at. Of course SL would sign these contracts with a great salary and reasonable bonus structure, wouldn't you?
Meanwhile, recruiting is currently in the dump, but if i say, just let him play out his contract others will say that is silly, because then our recruiting will go in the dump if he doesn't have more guaranteed years.
Right. Seth is not stealing from this university. He’s doing his job and performing to expectation and budget. I imagine everyone wants to see above expected and budgeted results, because that actually happens and that’s what we all want, but generally it will require a non-linear increase in $.

That isn't the average salary for CUSA pay during his tenure. His salary was always near the top of CUSA. That is the measuring stick not Big 12 or SEC salaries were 1.8 million is Coordinator salary sometimes.
He doesn't have average CUSA results. He has near the top CUSA results (as bad as that is).
Both are nothing to puff out our chests about. CUSA salaries are in the bottom half of all schools. CUSA results across the board are in the bottom half of all schools.
If you want better results (which we all do), get ready to pay a lot more - not just for coaches.
We are a monetary underdog walking into just about every game not in CUSA and we are getting upset about results not going our way. Ya'll are getting upset about dice not rolling UNTs way when they are weighted against UNT. Some of you act like North Texas is the one carrying the weighted dice... For most CUSA matchups, you'd be right, but for the rest - not so much.

According to that link Seth is the top paid CUSA coach by $500K per year.
Square at the 83rd highest paid head coach in the country out of 131. That's in the bottom half of all of D1. At $2M per year.
A top paid CUSA coach is delivering top CUSA results.
Most of the teams we play out of conference have head coaches making more.

Not in CUSA.
Seth has a better than average record against CUSA teams. In fact - his record over that timeframe is amongst the teams that have won the conference over the same timeframe.
I don't think if salary was reduced and Seth had the most wins per dollar we would be happy with no conference championships and no bowl wins during Seth's tenure. The pay is right where we want to be.
He is 3 or 4 conference wins short over the past 7 years from having the best record.

Ok, and what is their conf record? Now compared to ours.... they took care of business, we almost lost to Rice. I get it may not matter to some people because of the win, but that Rice game wasn't pretty.
UTSA squeaked by UNT and UTEP.
Who cares? Go win a championship.

When I think of excellence in college football - I think about Florida Atlantic.
I don't wish we would hire a coach that can't win more than 5 games.
