Sure, but who is going to make the right strategic moves? There’s no AD, and almost certainly won’t be one until January, and good luck making a good coaching hire after the calendar turns. Then you’re looking at no time to recruit, guys naturally leaving in the turnover, and making assistant hires. Maybe you get an excitement boost from potential coaches based on the AD hire, but that’s a big gamble when we’re also facing the uncertainty of navigating a new conference. I’m by no means a Littrell lover, but it doesn’t make sense to let him go at this juncture. A new AD, conference and head coach are a recipe for disaster — let’s sort out the first two before moving into the third.

Wren parting ways has basically locked Littrell in due to the reasons you stated.

Focused needs to be placed on identifying and hiring a new AD who can make the right HFC hire.

If you are tired of the same ol, same ol, then step right on up T.Boone. Just because you feel entitled to date (insert attractive famous person here) doesn’t mean it’ll work out. If you’ve been running around with 5s and 6s, don’t think that 9s and 10s are going to swoon over you just because of a new suit and a mid level luxury car.

Projecting much? Don’t crap on others goals of self-improvement because it hasn’t worked out for you.

One of this first ways we can improve is to change our mindset - not double down.

We are in the Championship Game how we got there really doesn’t matter. We win and we are the Champions, that is what will be remembered. Even the haters will dig for negative if this should happen! GMG

Haters? You think we want the team to fail? Quite the opposite in fact. We’re the ones being shamed for wanting more as we move to a new conference that seems to be getting tougher by the day. Oh and our AD was just hired away before firing or extending Seth.

So, after 7 seven years a record of 44 and 43 sounds good to you, then so be it. It does not sound good to me. It sounds very mediocre and a change should take place, beyond the athletic director leaving. We all know how we backed door into the title game. So, yea it is kind of dreadful.

Don’t you see? He’s figured it out now and is turning the corner! Don’t mind conference mates taking risks and making changes.

Talk about it all you want, but is there a need to start a new thread every other day?  Go find a thread dedicated to bitching about Seth Littrell and have at it.

I’m guessing that’s a general statement for posters and not directed at me. I’ve certainly not started any threads. But I get your point.

Pretty much every conference has some at the top, some at the bottom and the great unwashed in the middle.  Why I focus on conference records is, in theory, the resources are comparable and you play the same teams year after year.  So, Tulane should be as equipped to compete in the AAC as we are to compete in CUSA.

Focusing on conference record is a good place to work from but there are too many variables to get a true apples to apples comparison. And I’m not sure how happy Tulane fans have been with the prior 6 seasons. Maybe fritz is being absolved of his sins right now.

Seth however does not have UNT in the same spot as Tulane. That’s for certain.

With the exception of a handful of coaches or ADs that see something in the coach or have patience to see the process through, the head coach industry is a what have you done for me lately business.  Tulane has done well this year.  Assuming we move on our coaching staff and hire someone like Willie Fritz, are we willing to be patient enough to wait through a 6 year conference record like the one below before we go 7-1 in and get to 10-2 for the regular season?

    1.  1-7  (4-8)

    2.  3-5  (5-7)

    3.  5-3  (6-6)

    4.  3-5  (6-6)

    5.  3-5  (6-5)

    6.  1-7  (2-10)

    7.  7-1  (10-2)

This is a super fair point. The only rebuttal would highlight the difference in strength of schedule from AAC vs CUSS, and our facility/coach salary compared to our conference mates setting a different expectation whether warranted or not.

I don't know where some of y'all get that SL is a sure-fire goner if he doesn't win the CUSA ship and/or bowl.  Would love to see/hear your sources.

I have not read or heard anything from up top that gives any indication.  Nothing.  It feels no different than the previous 2 seasons right now.  If anything, they are more optimistic about being in first in line (er, first in line after UTSA) for the conference championship.

We’re clearly speculating based on our own desires, but it’s hard to imagine Wren and co. are seeing Seth’s body of work as acceptable in the long term. Especially if we want to compete at the level the university says it does.

Who says that?  Why should  just we accept mediocrity? Act inspired North Texas! Act inspired North Texas!

Outside of numerous posters on this board I think it would be understandable for Seth to receive an extension if he wins out.

Unless you know something we don’t?!

Back down to about a 4. As expected, definitely looked better with less flue and more starters back. However, i am still worried that this team is one unfortunate landing of one of Perry's feet on someone else's foot away from being very mediocre for the rest of the season. Maybe when more coaching can take place the team will also have more players emerge offensively. But until this happens my panic meter will not really go back down to where it was before the season.

I share this concern about TP, he had a few athletic plays that showed he can challenge the knee pretty well and drive hard. However he did sub himself out after an athletic layup and fall to the ground.

I think we see other players develop and emerge as the season progresses.
