  1. It begs the question, if we are moving back down to I-AA, why spend so much money on football?  The money would be better spent on basketball which has far fewer scholarships, and perhaps we could finally rekindle baseball again which would be fun.

    12. Tyron Mason (Plano) - 6'6" 185 Fr., wing

    - my best guess on a starting five / rotation

    1. Jasper Floyd
    2. Atin Wright
    3. Rondel Walker
    4. Johnathan Massie
    5. Moulaye Sissoko

Jossel will be a primary bench scoring option. I think Mason and Cotton will be fighting for for the same minutes at the 2/3. Stone will still get minutes kinda across the 2,3,4 spots for stretches...more if neither Mason nor Cotton show they can contribute and lock down a spot. I think Newell and Lorient are enough size/length/athleticism to get by as sort of a combo 4/5 off the bench. Vice's development is a wild-card, but if he shows anything we already have more depth inside than last season.

I'm sure some here still want more size, but if we do spend the last scholarship, man I hope it's on a point guard. Floyd looks like a legit 1, but based on numbers Wright and Jossel look more like 2s...and while maybe they can handle, their strengths are as scorers. lack of PG depth hurt us more than lack of size/Sissoko-struggles.

Great post but I disagree, it seems to me like our ball handling is already improved significantly with the new signees.  I would love to have one more big shot blocker and rebounder.

Missouri State announced Friday morning it will depart the Missouri Valley Conference and join Conference USA as a full-league member beginning in July 2025.

The school will hold a news conference on Monday at 1 p.m. to formally reveal its transition plans. It will be the 12th member of CUSA.

By joining Conference USA, Missouri State will become a Division I Football Bowl Subdivision program for the first time.

    Conference USA programs also include:

    • Florida International University (FIU) | Miami, Florida
    • Jacksonville State University (Jax State) | Jacksonville, Alabama
    • Liberty University | Lynchburg, Virginia
    • Louisiana Tech University (LA Tech) | Ruston, Louisiana
    • Middle Tennessee State University | Murfreesboro, Tennessee
    • New Mexico State University | Las Cruces, New Mexico
    • Sam Houston State University | Huntsville, Texas
    • University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) | El Paso, Texas
    • Western Kentucky University | Bowling Green, Kentucky
    • Kennesaw State University | Kennesaw, Georgia (joining July 1, 2024)
    • University of Delaware | Newark, Delaware (joining July 1, 2025)

  4. If/when FSU leaves, the Seminoles and Clemson would likely be SEC-bound. UNC and UVA, which both have AAU accreditation, would join the Big Ten as basketball and academic fits. The Big 12 would likely try to poach Louisville, NC State, VA Tech, Pitt, and/or GA Tech.

There will be a big game of musical chairs played when the ACC crumbles, but unlike the Pac-12, there is a contingency plan to keep the ACC alive: Memphis, Tulane, Wazzu, Oregon State, UConn, and USF making the jump from the Group of Five ranks.

Enough ACC schools likely won't get invites to the other conferences since there's only so much revenue split current members will want to take part in, so with the Pac-2 schools and AAC programs making the jump, survival would be more than possible. The American would simply pluck programs from the Sun Belt and Conference USA, and those conferences would fold FCS schools that qualify for FBS membership into their ranks.

I can tell I have never been less excited about MG sports since the 1970's.  NIL has killed it for me.  Part of I enjoyed was watching the progress of he players develop.. I bought my season tickets for football but I am not sure about basketball this year.   It just sucks to be one of the farm teams.

Ditto, I am thinking about cancelling my season tickets as well.  I just got laid off and so I need to keep the budget lean.  I promise as soon as I land a job I will reup.  Being in IT has been tough.

Scott Drew (Baylor) is meeting with Kentucky about their opening.  If he goes there would Grant be in line at Baylor, his alma mater?

I mean it is not even a question, Baylor has always been Grant's dream job and he will be the next guy if Drew leaves.  Baylor has biog pockets and will be able to buy him out.

Other than Stone Earle in football, how many other guys have entered the portal and come back to their school? I haven't heard of many. These guys have a lot of voices in their ears. It's kind of like dumping your girlfriend because you think you can do better than you don't have the guts to swallow your pride and ask her to take you back.

KD Davis comes to my mind, but I am sure there are others.

"We have collectives that in some places are raising huge amounts of money and going to compete against places that do not have the same resources to raise those kinds of funds to pay players," Saban said. "You have a pay-for-play system and a free agency system that has no guidelines, so there's no competitive balance. I think there's going to be a lot of places that will say that and we'll create a case system where the rich will get richer and the poor will get poorer and eventually fans will look at it and say, 'I don't really want to watch this game.'"
