  1. I'm out forever. Good luck to you guys. Few parting words that you don't want to hear. (1) Being a stepping stone for P5 programs is a positive. It means that the coach that you had did a good job. (2) No need to feel abandoned because Littrell left you guys after 3 years. All non P5 coaches leave. It's not you, it's your conference. And 3 years is about right for similar coaches like Littrell and his background/success. (3) Good luck in your bowl game. I learned that winning a bowl game is important to you guys.
  2. https://www.mwcboard.com/index.php?/topic/15246-patterson-to-kansas-state/ Here you go. The article by Fitz in 2008 is right there. That article freaked Patterson out and he canceled the whole thing. It wasn't supposed to get out, but Fitz is a dumbass.
  3. In 2008, Patterson had agreed to become the next Head Coach at Kansas State. At the time, TCU was not in the Big 12 and was playing for a BCS bowl. It leaked early due to a huge KSU idiot, the guy who runs the KSU 247 site. It was not supposed to get out, but it did. Patterson flipped out and we lost him. The point of the discussion is that non P5 coaches do not stay with their respective school. They leave as soon as an opportunity they want open up. Other than maybe Patterson, who is in a gray area, and Chris Peterson, everyone else left once a position they wanted opened. For Littrell, he wants a Big 12 position, and here we are.
  4. You're right. My bad. When it listed 2011-2012 and then 2012-2013 on google for Urban Meyer at Bowling Green and then Utah, and assumed it meant 1 season, so all the seasons I listed were short 1 season. But ya, the whole, Littrell is leaving us after ONLY 3 years crying doesn't make too much sense. Good coaches leave for P5 quickly. It's a fact. It's not Littrell being greedy. It's economics. It's the system as it is, and it screws over you guys, so sorry.
  5. So other than OU, UT, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, Alabama, UCLA, USC, Clemson and maybe 5 other schools, we're all just like you? Ok. Who cares if we're worth the big bucks. We get the big bucks. So ya, I guess we have $40 million dollars every year to be sad about. I honestly have no idea what point you are trying to make. Are you trying to say we are riding OU and UT's curttail? Well ya. Anybody can tell you that. Is that what you are trying to argue?
  6. Conference Championships. Like I said, we're hoping to contend for a conference championship every 4 or 5 years. Being in a P5, contending for a conference championship also means we're in the playoff picture. We understand that a 1 loss KSU is not the same as a 1 loss OU or 1 loss Texas, but if balls bounce right, we could end up in the playoff. However, expecting playoff is unrealistic. We hope to contend for conference championships every 4 or 5 years. It last happened in 2012/2013, so not that long ago.
  7. huh? Gary Patterson stayed because TCU became P5. Wasn't Terry Bowden fired at Auburn for sucking, and now he was just fired at a non P5 for sucking? Skip Holtz isn't good enough for a P5 job. Don't know who the other 2 are. So ya, if you're good enough for P5 and get an opportunity, you leave.
  8. If that day comes, I sure hope I don't get excited for winning a bowl games. That would be very sad. It's funny. Being around other P5 programs and fans, NOBODY has ever mentioned winning a bowl game as a goal. I didn't think you guys were serious until one of your posters mentioned, it's different for you guys, that bowl game victories are important. I understand that now.
  9. I'm thinking you guys will be able to pay, max, in the $2 to $2.2 million range. We can max to over $5 million, but I think for Littrell, it'll be in the $3.5 to $4 neighborhood. So he's looking at a $1.5 million raise. As I noted previously, G5 coaches do not stay G5 for long, other than Chris Peterson.
  10. Well, I'm here to tell you that you're right. Other than a playoff or New Years 6 bowl game, making a bowl game is whatever. OSU and KSU don't really care at all. The crappy teams, like KU, would be excited. But for everyone else, it's mehhh.
  11. Littrell wants a Big 12 job. Other than Texas and Oklahoma, every other job is pretty much the same (minus KU). Iowa State, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas Tech, Baylor (not counting WVU because he would have no interest at WVU) Those are all interchangeable. You take whichever one becomes available.
  12. Geez, locking up a commitment doesn't mean signing them. It means having their "verbal" commitments be a firm commitment, and not a wishy washy one.
  13. Speaking of your recruits, I of course looked at the commitments to see who we might be able to poach. 4 of them have high rating on Rivals. However, I clicked the profile of your 4 highest rated recruits on Rivals, and non have p5 offers. What's the deal? Did you guys just lock them up early and the P5 offers didn't get reported? Or just no P5 offers for them? How many committed player do you guys have that actually have at least a couple P5 offers?
  14. I think you want to lock up recruits as soon as Littrell is announced. If you wait until after the bowl game, you're screwed.
  15. And you guys were 1-11 4 years ago. I mean, seriously, you expected a CUSA title within 3 years of winning 1 game? Let's be realistic. You've had back to back 9 win seasons after winning a SINGLE game 4 years ago. That's an insane turnaround.
  16. Other than Chris Peterson, what non P5 coach that could have gone P5, didn't go? Everybody pretty much leaves when they find a "fit". Urban Meyer was at Bowling Green for a year, than Utah for a year, then to Florida Tom Herman was only at Houston for a year. Justin Fuente was at Memphis for 3 years and left for Va Tech Nobody stays

  18. It's because Nebraska fans are a bunch of idiots. Worst fanbase out there. Can't stand them. They don't deserve Frost.
  19. I don't understand why so many of you guys are pooing on Littrell. Let's assume that N. Texas was in the same shape in 2011 when McCarney took over at Litrell in 2016McCarney:2011: 5-72012: 4-82013: 9-42014: 4-82015: 0-5 (fired)Littrell:2016: 5-82017: 9-52018: 9-3It would seem that McCarney's one good season was more of an outlier, an aberration, than anything. Littrell's worst season, 2016, his 1st year, was better than McCarney's 2nd best season, in 2011.When considering Littrell, it really goes beyond his coaching record at North Texas. It's important to also note how good he was as an OC, that gave him the opportunity to be the head man at N. Texas.Under his watch as OC, he turned 3 mediocre p5 programs into top 30 offenses. He did it at Arizona, Indiana and North Carolina. It's very impressive what he was able to accomplish at 3 different geographic locations, 3 different conferences, and 3 different sets of players. He looked at what was in the cupboard and made it work at ARIZONA, INDIANA, AND NORTH CAROLINA. 3 Basketball schools! Also, add in the fact that his major connections are in Texas and Oklahoma, and he SCREAMS Big 12 kinda guy, it's a no brainer.I've seen people say, "well, I want to see him do it longer" or something like that. Well boys, if you want more proof, he'd be knocking on the door at Ohio State or Oklahoma, and not KSU. As much as he has achieved, this is a no-brainer hire.
  20. Lol. We're hopeful that we "compete" for a conference championship every 4 or 5 years. We're realistic. After 3 years of rebuilding, we hope for 8 wins most seasons and competing for conference championships every 4 or 5. We know we're not OU or TX.
  21. Good luck in your coaching search! I mean it. Denton is a nice area. It's close to a lot of talent. Seth leaving shows that coaches can come to UNT, win, and move up. Seth may leave us for OU in a few years. That would be a great thing. It means he did a great job at KSU.
  22. You're right. Kansas is probably more talented than us right now. We needed a change in culture, so we're really excited for the change that Littrell is going to bring. Snyder, as great as he was, completely ignored recruiting. It'll take 2-3 years to get KSU to a p5 talent level.
  23. The buyout is only 3 million. Is that a lot for your athletic department? I'm not sure how your budget works. I hope it goes to a good cause, like hiring Neal Brown. You guys are definitely going to get him! Good luck!
