254 tweet was for the OL from College Station I believe.. 254 is a central TX area code, and Conroe is North Side of Houston.

I saw a tweet from SL that mentioned big news from 254 a week ago.

really like this kids tape.. noticed 2 things, that he can play inside and outside, and he doesn't go down often on 1st contact and breaks out of arm tackles.

As far as I know there has not been any information indicating they will not be here.
I hadn't heard anything either, i just saw that they were on the list.. and didn't know if i had missed something or what.. crossing my fingers those 4 make it, and we really need Johnson and Hayes to make it.

Hopefully when English plays, he can turn a few kids heads and bring some light on UNT.. Also Hoston could help bring some DT talent as well hopefully to play next to him.

Cody Hayes, Darius Turner, Dee Baulkman, William Johnson.
These guys were from NSD, are we sure that they wont be here in the fall? or they off the list because they aren't here for summer classes?
Huge hit to the class if we lose Johnson and Haynes... I think they were the 2 biggest gets back on NSD...

Would he be a 2 year guy?

I bet the new AD is announced before the Southern Meth game.
And by the way, without looking, how many athletic directors of any size college can you name ? The only one I can think of is DeLoss Dodds and he hasn't been at Texas in years. See how many you can think of.

So it's a slow time of the year for UNT athletics and athletics in general. However -if you follow UNT Athletics closely - there are some very positive signs. First and foremost, it seems we finally have a President who cares. Hiring is based on results, but clearly bringing in Seth Littrell and his quality group of assistants appears to be a huge step up. We have discussed at length the positive move getting consultants Trip Kuehne and Michael Sicuro involved in the review of the AD and the positive things that will come from that. Next, we have a new AD hire nearing which should have a tremendous impact on the direction and future of the program. It has already been revealed that our coaches and facilities need attention and it seems that they are already making positive steps. Today we learn that a bonafide recruiting coordinator has been hired, and one who has some experience and pedigree. This has been a glaring issue for many years now.
In this slow time of the year, it is easy to forget some of the moves being made by UNT Athletics. It's always an easier road to point out the negatives of which will all know there have been many. The proof will be in the pudding of course but I applaud them for clearly trying to right this ship. gmg
So quick question, What does a recruiting coordinator do? Break down film for coaches? or just someone that helps get the kids to campus for visits and other perks?

Great add, and agree doubtful we could get Mansell to change his mind, but Peoples was a WR his freshman year according to Hudl profile, according to Vito.. Mansell and Lutz wanted to go to school together, so I take that to them we finished 2nd to Iowa just because of name.. but wonder if adding another player or 2 could sway Mansell, but still doubt it. Would be great to have Pearson and Mansell here to challenge... If the both stuck around..

Would like to get the RB #7 I beleive as well.. Wonder if this makes Mansell question/reconsider UNT???

Another senseless expenditure in the athletic arms fiasco. A fancy locker room never made a player better, but the glam obviously impresses recruits.
Agreed, it's really not a big deal.. And honestly don't really see a lot of kids that pick one school over another just Bc of the locker room.. But kids these days would much rather have flashy and new with all the toys possibly..

I feel like we have done okay so far in turns of getting depth.. Just the new guys alone and the the remaining guys from last year year should provide quality depth for this season and some for next.. Till the freshman start making an impact.
Also, the defense I would think will be one that Ekler likes rotating guys as much as possible.. Also, I believe SL and Harrell will be around 50/50 run pass since Jeff is a solid RB and depth at WR is a question
-
English I believe is most likely required to sit out this year.. I've heard that the NCAA doesn't do hardship transfers anymore but allows the player to request an addition year at the end of their 4 years of playing.. hopefully this makes sense

I would think Derricott has the same impact as William Johnson? But honestly no idea... Only say this because they seem to have some of the same rating and rankings..

Agreed, Johnson should be an ILB, with Ejiya playing that Rover/Hybrid LB S slot. (I believe)
Will be interesting how Derricott and Johnson(hopefully he makes it to campus, haven't heard anything about if he will or will not) pair together because they could be huge for us. Also, Will be interesting to see how teams match up Wheeler and Hoston on the same side.

How about in time for first game Sept 3rd? Unveiling during halftime.... BOOM
I would like this as well, but I figured if we did it at the spring game.. I may bring in a few more recruits that are on the fence to see us. Also, I think if we did that could give players a lot of energy as they move into the summer as well. Also, it most likely wouldn't be done in time as well for this season.

Wow I mean Mike Ekeler has been as huge an assistant hire as I can ever recall. Guy just keeps producing as a recruiter. Amazing first recruiting campaign. Very excited about this defense.
What would be terrible is the defense produces big time then he moves on to another job :( thats what i'm worried about

After the Baylor debacle, is anyone still interested in Kendal Briles

Wonder, if one of our coaches left next year on the offensive side... and we have a solid year.. if Briles would consider coming here for a new start...
