In 1968 we came close. Steve Ramsey had 2,516 yards passing, Leo Taylor had 1,017 yards rushing, and Barry Moore had 1,053 yards receiving. Of course that team had 12 eventual pro draftees, including 1st round picks, Joe Greene, and Cedric Hardman and 2nd round WR, Ron Shanklin as well as 5 others in the first 10 rounds.

Nope. We don't have Aaron Rodgers...we have Mason Fine!

You blitzed because Fine was a walking wound by that point. This is the kind of game that makes both teams better.
It was a worthy contest between two teams that had a lot of motivation to win.

Breakout game was vs SMU...
People said it was trash time stats, no it was him showing the never go down without a fight mentality..
The kid is light years ahead compared to last year.
I watched a lot of football today, SEC, Big 12, ACC, Big 10 and I didn't see any QB who I would trade Fine for. He is clearly better than most starting at those schools.

I am ok with Fine starting the 2nd half. He had a good first half. What I do not understand is why the put a hurt, tired Fine in for the final series of the second half, risking further injury to Fine and leading to the predictable interception (the guy was clearly tired), giving Shanbour more reps and a chance to further show what he can do. I understand having a starting QB, but I do not understand not preparing the backup in situations like that for taking over if the QB gets seriously injured.

Not sure this is a good plan.
Leaving west/north -ward tomorrow would seem the smarter move to me, as I expect a lot of the closed and flooded roads will be opened up tonight and tomorrow morning as the water starts receeding. In the east howevever is where the storm is headed, i.e. they are driving towards the problem it seems to me, not away from it.
Absolutely, flooding near Orange, even on the Interstate.

Smaller is sometimes better if they are quick, will attack, and make a pile out of a double team. The issue is keeping them healthy with all that pounding. Krasniqi might be able to play the position well but have to watch that snap count.
I would think that he would be used in certain situations where quickness can be a virtue, such as obvious passing downs.

Some nice athleticism....good late addition.

Looks like an excellent pick-up to me. Lost some interest due to an injury last year, was evaluated in camps by UNT staff and is active in 5 sports. To me that says the athleticism is there.

Christ, all I did was ask if he had any other FBS offers? Why in the hell would that earn so much GMG wrath?
It's a legitimate question, you wrinkly old ass hats. :D
And I finally got off my lazy ass and checked out his recruiting profile. He's had a few offers, which is a good sign, IMO. I could care less if he had FBS offers pulled. The fact he was offered is good enough for me. I just don't want to see this program turn into walk on central like it did at the end of Mac's tenure...
OK to ask. He is listed among the top 30 senior QB's in the state, by Dave Campbell.

You can talk about outliners and that but people are just using examples of how Tech produced some of the passing numbers in all of the college football, and so has Hawaii. But yet none of those QBs did anything..Heck the best football team in the nation, Alabama couldn't even get a QB to get drafted high and they have only had 1 QB stick in the NFL and he isn't even a starter in the recent history. (But Tech produced the RD1 pick)
I would take whoever the best QB the coaches think for our system and potential. Just because kids have a great offer list does not make that kid more likely to be a great player either. An offer is just like a pro player getting a big contract, the offers are for what you have done and what teams hope that you can do. The more offers the better (Yes), but it does not mean that the player will work out. For ever 0/1/2 offer guy on the team that has done something, we have others that have had 3/4/5 that haven't done a thing!
McClain had 1 other offer from TXST in the 2014, but yet the guys with multiple offers in 2014 like Chumley and Goree had 5+ offers and they didn't/ haven't amounted to anything here. Mason Fine had 0 offers and replaced Morris, a kid that played at BAMA and had a huge offer list! We had a PWO WR replace Goree after he got kicked off the team, and we noticed the PWO more than we did Goree. Offer lists are sexy, but they mean ZERO once they are on the field.
No one will argue that the more offers the better or less the worse the player is. ITS ABOUT HOW THEY PRODUCE ON THE FIELD. Production on the field is done through a scheme, not through an offer list!
As I said, the only test of the recruiting will be the results on the field.

I liked Rust. He was an excellent coach. His major problem is that he had no real Texas ties and this handicap finally showed up in his recruiting.

The recruiting treads are getting boring as can be. We know everyone's perspective by now (so no sense in repeating the same stuff over and over again). As for "not getting any better results in recruiting"....we just do not know that yet. The only results that count come when they are on the field.
If that weren't the case, then Boise State, who for years recruited virtual unknowns, who have never risen to the level they are now....and TCU never would have made the first step to the level they are at. It was only after some success with lower rated classes did they begin to bring in higher rated recruits than some of their rivals.

Too bad nobody else thinks so. I mean don't get me wrong I'm sure they're good evaluators of talent. But offering kids with no other FBS offers is McCarney level recruiting and we all know where that got us. It's getting a bit tiring to be honest
I prefer to see how a couple of recruiting classes fare before making judgement.

Wonder what the full story is. Here is how Texas Football described him as a high school back; "RB Easley (106-1,095 rushing. 15 T.D.'s) is a physical downhill runner who possesses a great combination of size and speed".

Fair enough write-up, but apparently he has forgotten about Isadore at QB.

I'd say we needed change.

Field position and yardage needed for a first down have to enter into the calculation. Surely, with 4 and 30 on your own 15 yard line would be reason to punt no matter what your theory is.
