  1. I was thinking about this and was wondering if anyone had any interesting insights on what positions others would play based on their postings.

Here's a few examples and explanations:

QB: BillySee, knows the playbook like the back of his hand. Great work ethic. When he speaks the other players tend to listen.

DB: UNT90, Definite corner, prefers to play press on receivers and smack talk to throw them off their game.

I honestly don't have too many for this just wanted to hear some interesting perspective while off-season drums on.

  2. Continuing to say it on here isn't going to change anything.

Brown's total annual compensation is 2.8 million. (apples/oranges to UNT) He was also SMU's 4th or 5th option after others turned them down. 3 years after JJ had been here there were multiple calls for his head. Benford will be here for the next 2 years. Please get over it! This one man campaign to fire the coach and AD with over 5 posts per thread has long been old. Give us all a break.

I'm not a Benford supporter but with the constant bitching, I'm hoping the guy sticks around much longer just to piss folks off more. Please RV and President Smatresk, let the man finish the job he was hired to do. No one is asking for a 5 year extension like we gave our losing football coach after 3. Of course, all the experts (and record on the field) indicates that he can't recruit. The football program is a bigger disappointment relative to the money devoted to it (facilities, salaries etc).

Yeah you're right, no one should ever continue to voice there opinions, money or votes about broken systems. Why vote in America right? Not liek that voice or opinion actually changes anything. I bet you guys bitch about the president, taxes, recruiting, your bad backs, whatever. Different sports, different issues and different people prioritize differently than you. But to tell someone on a sports fan board about an opinion on a major revenue hire is about the same as telling you guys to talk about something other than your opinion on the quarterback situation. Get over yourselves.

  3. It should be a nest. We both have bird mascots. Should be some bronze/copper/steel/ whatever nest.

Other options (In Order Of Coolness):

    Comanche Mustang

    Dual Pistols

    A Texas Flag (sculpture)

    Lone Star

    Armadillo

    Alternate Options to play for:

Championship rings earned in the state of Florida

  4. 90 might my favorite board personality to upvote. I do often agree with him. Favorite to downvote is Andrew. Either a fantastic troll or a dedicated 11 year old who figured out how to get past his parents internet filters. I hope he's in this for the long con because i can't take him seriously. Also, i really enjoy BillySee's posts that guy knows a thing or two.

  5. If you were to ask me, it's because we don't have any singular attraction that's greater than the other schools. If we're being honest we're bad to slightly above average in any given football season. We aren't an academic powerhouse, even in C-USA if the kid is truly interested in academics he can go to Rice. If you want to party you'll head down to T-state. We are have a little bit of everything in Denton, but no pure attraction. We're like the girl who's not particularly unattractive, but her friends are either super hot, slutty or have the biggest rack. As far as pairing off for partners with the dance she's going to get grabbed last unless she really dresses up (wins a lot of games).

I absolutely think we could nab a few bigger fish once in awhile if we pitched at the angle of building something here. Just like the recruiting class in basketball with Jordan, Chris and Tony I think we could occasionally have a class like that. Is it my expectation? No? Do i get excited about three stars and former 4 stars that have fallen from grace? of course. I think we run an old school philosophy in an old school town. We aren't trying anything revolutionary so we won't get revolutionary results. But if anyone expeted that from McCarney that's your own poor expectations.

The schools that give me hope are the TCUs and Houston's of the world. They were at one time viewed how we are now. And yes, Houston has back pedaled a bit, but it takes one coach, one spark, one good class to be bitching about getting left out of a national championship.
