  1. I am not liking the way unt is conducting business right now as far as the players are concerned. They should have known beforehand who their new coach was going to be...instead being strung along thinking Shawn was gonna get the job or head coach with experience. Nothing against hiring benford I just feel as a parent they should have let them know at least before ESPN and twitter..as far as I'm concerned as a player I would think its a slap in the face to hire an assistant over an assistant who helped Johnny Jones over 4 years build this program. I hope everything works out for the new coach players and fans. I still have faith in the mean green

  2. Not true the new coach and unt would have to release them now while they are still considered freshman if they want to transfer without getting that release they have to sit out a year. As far as Patton he probably can play right away but why would he leave or any of them if they don't know what's gonna happen. I'm believing that they stay togather it makes more sense unless we get a true jerk of a coach

  3. Everyone needd to calm down and see what the future holds. I know this is a big letdown for the boys and I can imagine they are on an emotional rollercoaster. I'm sad too but happy for johnny jones, but if shawn Forrest leaves I don't think things are gonna go well unless some well respected winning coach fills that spot...I'm just saying

  4. Larry Brown would be a great fit For our boys not smu, yo rick make that phone call while he's in town. Other than that I think shawn Forrest would be the 1st choice, especially with all the talent he has brought in and continue to bring in if he gets the job, this had to be done quick though, recruiting season is around the corner

  5. MG 93-98...I understand Mr. Mitchell's issues weren't grade issues unless you take into account his math test score on Texas St. TAX test ie 1 point away from passing on math portion of test. Mr. Mitchell's issues were regarding course curriculum that would transfer to Pinkston (sp) HS from God's academy in Fl..

Back to angel1972...I'm very supportive of CJ and JW's for choosing UNT and their commitment to a college education along with their BB career. I'm also supportive of JP in his situation. Just seems all the other players on our roster had the foresight to look at Mr. Mitchell's situation and learn from it. Even the players that are riding the end of JJ's bench.

Point is UNT men's BB team would have been much better off if these young players had taken care of business in the class room. In short, sad situation and our young players need to respond in the class room because their actions have affect the whole team, not just them as individuals. No matter the outcome, if these guys are exceptional athletes they're going to have to learn how to accept the criticism of this situation because it's on them. In the future they're probably going to have to learn to endure other criticism that are baseless and that will take even more character.

I support this team so much I went out on a limb and guaranteed the team would make March Madness before TM was eligible to play at UNT. I underwent a firestorm of criticism for my opinion even with CJ and JW on the team. I still stand behind my earlier statement about March Madness Berth even without CJ and JW's. This prediction is much more of a long shot now.

    Go Mean Green!!!

  6. So untmike81 if you have confidence in tmitch then why not jw and cj,well i have confidence that they will overcome this just like Tony, sometimes you have to learn things from your own experience s even if someone is telling you all along what you are supposed to do,yes its unfortunate for all parties involved but life goes on it just kills me that people are so judgemental and insensitive. Am I dissappointed yes heck I'm dissappointed with some decisions I've made but i learned from it which made me a stronger person and I'm able to handle adversity better,we try to tell these kids its not all about bball yet look at this message board..hmm mixed messages Lol just kidding

  7. There is no agenda, majority of all athletic tell you what you want to hear so you will send your child to their college but as a parent you really have to make sure to stay on top of things and not the staff telling you everything is fine. When my son goes to college i am gonna stay on him hard. Thanks for the example north texas, kudos to Jordan and Chris for not being cowards and running away from your mistakes, you guys are on your way to becoming great young men,I'm proud of all the young men and women who are at least trying to better themselves, everyone falls as long as you get back up again and keep trying i can't help but admire that. Look at Tony mitchell people said nationally that he would never play division 1 bball..well?

  8. I personally know these boys and they really did not comprehend the fact that you are a student first and an athlete second. So many people in your ear telling you how great an athlete you are it went to their heads. Is that an excuse !No but it explains the lacksidasal attitude. I'm glad it happened now,you have no excuse not too pass now that you have been exposed. As far as being a parent i would be upset because these coaches and advisors tell you they are going to make sure they keep you informed and stay on your child academics, when asked about their grades several times the answer was always they are good, why lie? Then wait until its too late to correct it and still let them keep playing. That is crazy

  9. If the two players where Tre and forrest would you be crying and whining soo much. When people are doing good you are all for them but when they make a mistake how quickly you turn, you are not in jones and Williams shoes. Yes they did not take care of business and they do not get to play. They earn scholarship yearlyso they still got a chance and schools make way more money off of these kids playing sport than what their scholarship is even worth but nobody talks about that?
