  1. I don't think it's at all offensive that he used these events, I just think he needs to hire a speech writer. There are plenty of ways he could have mentioned the same events in metaphoric or hyperbolic means and made it not sound moronic.

To me, it didn't sound offensive, just retarded.

And i get the ham reference now, but what was he referring to as ham and what was he referring to as chicken?

  2. I would love to see Jamario and company play one last time.

Emmitt, you know my paint, wear it if you suddenly get the balls and weirdness to do so. Hopefully in a year or so I'll have my little man there and won't be missing games anymore.

And yes, Jamario graduating is alone a reason for a "guy cry". UNT didn't overlook him because of his learning disability, and instead made sure he had a support system. The #1 rusher in the country could have gone elsewhere and maybe even had more success, but he was a "risk" and they blew him off.

Some of US have similar situations, and North Texas came through for us. I'd like to know who else has a story similar to Jamario's and mine. If you've missed my comments and such on my background and want to know, message me, but I'd really like to know who else got a major life-changing experience due only to the fact that it was Denton to which they came.

  3. They've been going off on this on SportsCenter for weeks. The problem with Hawaii is that they have barely beaten ANYBODY. Only a couple of teams they took on even have winning records. They basically said Hawaii needs to schedule some tougher non-conference games instead of pushovers to add to point and record totals.

  4. I dunno, I just got all excited about them talking about us, but can't find any broadcast replays online yet.

They were talking about the ups and downs of Top 10 teams and I made a toilet run, but just caught that last little bit afterwards. Not sure what kind of comparison they were making.

  5. That's what I heard on FSN as I came back into the room..."...that Todd Dodge and company aren't the best team in the country".

Looking for links now...were they making another "Any Given Sunday" reference like we were talking about before? That's my guess, but they might also have been talking about offensive numbers.

  6. I disagree for one reason. We want to start playing like a contender, right?

Only once in a while do the big teams play I-AA teams. And ESPECIALLY the mid-major teams that want to prove themselves put up tougher non-conference schedules to prove themselves.

Would it be nice to beat Nicholls State and have 2 wins this year?

    Maybe.

But I think it's better to lose now and be ready to beat their asses when we're settled in.

  7. I'm working on a lot of stuff that has yet to yield money (writing, art, etc), and need something that either lets me work nights and weekends, or pays enough to put the baby in daycare.

Because of all the stuff I did in college, plus summer/temporary jobs and the couple jobs since graduation, I have a few areas that I can work well in:

    -Food service (former restaurant mgr)

-Finance (worked for Citi, laid off, then worked for HSBC)

-Education/training/management/etc-With all the SGA, UNT committees (and chairs), tutoring, Peer Advisor, Grad Assistant, and various positions in student leadership (and my GPA), I'm pretty versatile here.

-Political/legal work-A few political campaigns, plus all the legal training from Kimi King and Corey Ditslear's courses in grad and undergrad, as well as multiple awards and honors.

Let me know what you have, if anything. I'd really like to have something simple for the next couple years or so, to focus on the baby and getting published when I'm not at work. I haven't listed everything here, but I was usually working 2-4 jobs at a time and am willing to put in some heavy hours for a little while as long as they will eventually be cut back. Unless I make a huge book deal or something, I'm looking for something that will be at least a 4 year position, to become a career if the art and writing don't yield long-term results.

As a fellow North Texan, note that between organizations and committee appointments, I held around 40 leadership positions at UNT. For what it's worth.

  8. Well, it's kind of like the "Any given Sunday" mentality in the NFL. Especially in a season like this, who knows what could happen? Yeah, talent is more spread out in the NCAA, but this season has proven just how prepared you have to be. That's why I like when they interview coaches from Texas, USC, OU, LSU, etc. and they talk about always having to be prepared...which is part of the reason I was rooting for TCU against UT this year. Mack Brown threw out that cocky "We aren't really worried about TCU"...so yeah, with that attitude, I've been hoping for UT losses every week to give his ass a reality check.
