  1. For those of us on the boards that can't make the game due to distance, we woll make up for it watching from afar. I will be wearing my Green Grear all day here in Northern California. First step to the SBC Championship starts tomorrow. Go Mean Green!

  2. Before the game most on the board said we need to run the ball and the clock and get out of there. Some of those same people are now saying we should have opened the playbook. Just be happy our O line looked real solid, no stupid decisions by DT. To me it looked like DT, Brelan, and our O line were the only part of our passing game that made the trip to LA. If we dont need to show out hand yet to opponents, don't count on it. Just Win Baby

  3. Good hire for the conference, will bring more attention to the SBC. Which is great for the Mean Green Nation!

One positive we have, we have the best facilities in the conference.

    Interesting thought...

Gus turns down Vandy a year ago.

This year interview process w/UNC & KU, both offer others.

Interesting video arises during interview process. An SEC program cant have a video floating around, not a good year in college football to raise any eyebrows.

    2011 Auburn: 7-5 season.

Gus leave 40% paycut and is now at stAte and is now in Jonesboro a year after winning the National Championship and coaching a player to win the Heisman

UNT will win the conference next year and go bowling for sure.

I look forward to a packed house for stAte at Apogee and we welcome him to the SBC with a L.

That game is definitely circled in my book, and look forward to coming to the game.

    Go Mean Green!

  4. Fact: we lost a lot at receivers since last year, we currently are starting a receiver that played 2 games last year (Bynes) and a walk on Delgado. Brelan is good, and fast. He just struggles knowing how to read and run the right routes, not to mention he is undesized and doesn't have the best of hands. We have had a lot of dropped balls, and a lot of rushed stupid decisions and throws due to defensive pressure. The O Line is really young and unexperienced. If and when we play a team that defensively their strength is their D line (FIU, Houston, Alabama and LL) we are most likely going to be stuffed offensively. I have DVR'd every game on game plan and have watched every game at least twice. If any of you have this capability I encourage you to do so. We are so are so over matched up front it is scary. Most teams only rush 3 in passing scenarios and drop 8 and still get sacks. Lance Dunbar has zero room to run the ball, the is the weakest O line we have had in his time at UNT and it shows. No time to pass, no holes for runs, and the depth we have at WR is scary and the perfect storm to what we are seeing now. Unfortunately we don't have the horses to run in the Kentucky Derby.

We need to play with the cards the coaches have been dealt, that is why recruiting EVERY season is Priority One.

Season is not over, let's just look for improvements. Hats off to the defense, they are improving weekly. And we all know Offense puts people in the seats and defense wins championships!

    Go Mean Green!

  5. Agreed, We just arent there yet to compete with the top 2 teams in that conference. We will be though. Wins create confidence

I guess some people think it is OK to lose now for the sake of building for the future. I kind of disagree with that premise, since we have such a horrible recent history, and we need to win as much as we can NOW due to the potential of a conference realignment explosion in the near future. I kind of left Tulsa this weekend feeling that their fans think of us as an itty bitty inferior program four hours to the south, and that's kind of depressing when you consider that they are the smallest school out there. Competing with CUSA schools NOW is especially important, since members of that conference are probably who we are hoping to be hooking up with not too far down the road.

  6. Lets Recap this season.

-FIU: that is a really good team, top tier of the conference.

-Houston:Good Team, Top 3 of Conference USA

-Indiana: WIN!! Big Ten School, that almost upset Penn State.

-Tulsa, Have played TOP 5 Talent the last four weeks. They played the best and learned from it. 1st Game at home to get a win. Us losing our starting QB before game didnt help either.

    Obstacles:

We are starting two true freshman and 2 Underclassman on the front Oline.

We lost our senior leader (Phillips) to injury on defense.

    Young Oline

    Undersized DLine

Whether it is McNulty or Osborn is decided by the coaches. If any of you put in time from 5am to 11pm 6 days a week, and 10am to 10pm on Sundays to figure out how to put UNT in a situation to win. Including practice, watching practice and opponents game film to look for the right scenario. If you have done that then please speak up, the UNT Coaching Staff would likely love to have your help.

Arguing who should be backing up DT, is something we shouldnt be talking about. DT could possibly back this week, only time will tell. Stirring up controversy on a such a young team does not benefit anyone. Every Football Team in the country have people looking at the opponents message boards for gossip, and news on injuries. Giving out information publicly tips the hat to the opponents.

Lets not be so quick to panic. This week we start into the heart of the conference schedule.

    HUGE GAME THIS WEEK!!!

Lets stay positive, not only does the team need to get rid of losing mentality, we as the fans need to do the same.

  7. We are going to see a lot of big plays on offense! We need a forced punt on the opening defensive situation. 13-15 last games (last year included) their offense has scored. Would be a big mental boost if our defense can force a punt. Look for UNT to be ready. Stadium should be exciting, I look forward to streaming it on the 55 inch TV Here in Cali

    Go Mean Green!

  8. There will not be a 2 QB System. 0% Chance of that happening. Thompson is playing well, needs to lose a little weight, and pick up some speed in Summer Workouts. Osburn is about 40% of where he needs to be mentally and knowing the offense, and making the right reads and decisions.

Still need some WR's to step up. Still to many dropped balls, and we need one of them to step up and be a playmaker.

  9. You have to be kidding Canales has done nothing big picture wise to get the attention of another school? Who would sell this guy to another school well he won a few games with at team at the bottom against some other bottom dwelling teams. There is something to get excited about from an outside prospective?

Canales has made it pretty public that he wants to be the HC @ UNT, that is priority #1. But if you think people arent going to/or haven't already noticed what Canales has done at UNT, then you are very blind.

He took a team that hasnt won more than 2 games in 4 years to 2 WINS in just 3 Games!! With 15+ Injuries, Death on the Team, and the HC being fired.

With the most important position in all of Sports the Starting QB the son of the Fired Head Coach leading the huddles, and being very successful.

You really think that other people, including UNT officials haven't noticed that?

    Trust me people have noticed.

  10. It just must be in the Denton water. FWIW, even the DRC Sports Editor has only seen and been a part of what we've been doing the last 6 hires at North Texas so he really has nothing else to compare to, either. You can't blame him.

But........Canales has gone to new low's I've ever seen at UNT to do all this freeby give away crap to promote himself. Does he think those who will decide are stupid? Does he think the masses will buy into all this, too? Sure, a handful on GMG.com will because they even bought into the hiring of a womens BB Coach who was an assistant from an NCAA program that was 32-58 when North Texas hired her. That, too, has not been a successful hire but wouldn't that be predictable at 99% other NCAA outposts? I think all will see that these kind of hiring cycles will soon be broken by those who have the power to insure that it does.

    .

Self Promoting? The T shirts say "Lock the Gate." Not "Canales for Head Coach." The Lock the gate theme purpose is to get the players, fans, and everybody something to rally behind. And from what we saw throughout this season, Injuries, Player Passing away, HC being fired, what a better time to give everybody something to rally behind. Whether you like/support Canales or not, please dont belittle his intentions and desire to give the kids something to play for by calling it self promoting.

We all want the same thing and that is for the Mean Green to play hard and not give up.

    Go Mean Green!
