Dumb question but does football do the same thing as basketball and provide instant eligibility for players transferring to care for family?
I just wanted to thank god and the university of Mississippi for the opportunity to get a education, chase my dream and grow as a man. I ran into people and built relationship with people that I will never forget and memories that I will go back in time and do it all over again, But I am Transferring some where closer to Tx. And I could take care of my mom. I found Christ here at Olemiss by far the best achievement Of my life and I will never forgot the people that gave me advice through my tough times being away from home when I was loosing close ones. But Thank you @olemissathletics and #rebelNation for the support y'all are the best Travel everywhere !!!! To see the Rebs

I'll give the Athletic Department props for this. That's a well done website.
This a nice new surprise. I wonder where the brain child for this is from?

What People Say About Seth Littrell
Bob Stoops, head coach, Oklahoma
"Seth was a tough and outstanding player for us at Oklahoma, and has rapidly climbed the coaching ladder for good reason. He's got an extremely bright football mind, he's thorough in his preparation and he relates well with players. I'm very happy for Seth, his family and for North Texas."
Rob Gronkowski, tight end, New England Patriots
"I'm definitely happy for Coach Littrell. It's great to see one of my former mentors get hired as a head coach. I love his coaching style. He gets his players to play tough and leave it all out on the field. He's not just a great football coach, he's also a great guy. He is someone who is always there for his players."
Larry Fedora, head coach, North Carolina
"I'm thrilled for Seth and his family for the opportunity to be the head coach at North Texas. He is an outstanding coach who does a terrific job developing players and building relationships. Over the last two seasons as offensive coordinator he has helped us set numerous records and win a lot of football games. I believe he will be a great head coach."
Mike Leach, head coach, Washington State
"He's absolutely ready. Seth has been successful everywhere he's gone. He was a young coach when he came to Texas Tech, but he was one of the best recruiters on my staff at Texas Tech. Everyone he interacts with likes him a lot. High school coaches love him. It's been neat to see him develop over the years. He's gone from an energetic kid who liked hitting the road and recruiting to being a role model and strong offensive mind. He's always been able to lead, but you can see now that he's ready to lead a football program."
Kevin Wilson, head coach, Indiana
"We set most of Indiana's offensive records when he was here. He's led a strong passing offense everywhere he's been, but he's also learned how to run a very balanced and complete offense. He's learned from people like Mike Leach, Dana Holgorsen and Larry Fedora, but what you are seeing at North Carolina - that is totally Seth. He's really come into his own."
Sonny Dykes, head coach, California
"I feel like he's ready for this. Being a head coach is definitely a different experience, but he is as well-prepared as anybody that is a first-time head coach. He's a demanding coach who will definitely push players. But the players respond well to him and like him a lot. He connects with people at a personal level, not just a professional level."
Nick Foles, quarterback, St. Louis Rams
"I really enjoyed playing for Coach Littrell during my time at Arizona, just because of his personality and the energy he brought to the football field. He's a really intelligent coach who knows a lot about football. He played the game himself so he's got that tenacity to really get after it but motivate his players. He's a players' coach, so I'm really excited for him."
Cody Latimer, wide receiver, Denver Broncos
"Coach is very funny, outgoing and just down to earth. He is very smart and knew how to put us in the right positions to succeed. I think he was actually there my 1,000-yard year I had, so of course I'm excited about that. He knows how to toss the ball around and get his players in the best situation possible. He's an all-around great guy. He's cool to hang around and talk to if you've got a problem or something. I'm very excited for him."
UNT is going all out quote wise... where did this come from??

Good for him and hopefully good for UH
The issue with a deal like this is that it really puts all the risk on UH side at this point. At least they get a bigger buyout, but it is unlikely that Herman was going to leave for a "lesser" job anyways where be buyout language would be prohibitive. The worst case scenario for UH is that he craters and they are paying him like a P5 coach. Worst case for Herman is that he didn't get a raise and this could have been used against him in recruiting.
Keeps the seat warm for him in case UT fires Strong next year but also provides him some protection from some of the lower-end school rumors to protect recruiting. Now all he has to do is win next year like he did this year to live up to the deal.

Either is a solid hire, but essentially this really means that Meacham is staying at TCU for a big raise and Cumbie is moving to UT
So UNT got outbid by UT/TCU...

If this gets screwed up as well...
I just dont even have the words to express my outrage at this point. The inability to get this wrapped up quickly is just one more sign of UNT's dysfunction.

Which I was told is deep. Wouldn't be surprised to see some dfw high school coaches make his staff either.
I just want one former HS only HC on the staff at a time.. but lets just say if they are big pulls in DFW and would give us a legitimate shot in the arm from a local recruting standpoint I could be convinced to have 2

From what I can gather, the Michigan DC is the top choice at Maryland, FYI

Ive said this once before, but it bears repeating.
Smatresk is a hatchman doing a job that needs to be doing. He will always try to do these things in house instead of out in the public. He may not always get the accolades for fixing the mess of others, but that is what he does and does well.
In the context of athletics, he will demand more because he knows that athletics is the public face and the media exposure arm of the university. As the President he understands the balancing act between large donors and the performance of the university and will play the game accordingly.I would hope that the disgruntled fans and public outcries are providing him ample cover to do what he does inhouse to once again fix a mess that is not of his creation instead of having to eventually force a messy public ousting.
I would love to be able to say that I expect full fledged support from him to fix the AD immediately because he loves UNT athletics, but right now that is an unknown. I can state that he will fix the marketing and public relations arm of the university, and he considers the AD part of that. The timeline might not to be to everyone's liking, but he will fix it because that is in his nature.

Things to look forward to?
What about running a progressive offensive system that has a complete design instead of a mishmash of concepts that dont really fit together.
Some form of consistency in what the QB's are being taught from a read and route concept standpoint.
Hopefully less 7 yard cushions by the DBs.
More North South running and less E-W JimJim (going to miss his electric no clue what will happen next nature)

Depends on who it is. If it is Chambers, forget it.

Not just "no", but "Hell No".
Would not touch him with a 10 foot pole. This is one of the few hires I would refuse to ever back, and it goes well beyond his issues at Texas and his "recruiting" abilities.
-
Applewhite or Meacham. I wouldn't mind cumbie. All three all have better offenses then Dan.
THIS IS A BIG HIRE.
Im in this boat, but I lean more towards Applewite because he is a bit more proven as a recruiter and younger. Either hire would make me very happy.

Please no Spav. Dont want the same type of culture that is around A&M to comes to UNT.
Great from a shortterm recruiting idea, horrible longterm when dealing with adversity

Dont forget that this is also a way to engineer him a new buyout number to help UH get a larger bump is/when he leaves.
Nothing wrong with it. His postion at UH, regardless what they pay him, will not stop him from being poached by a Big P5 school. As this really does is to increase the risk on UH is for some how he stays and his assistants leave elsewhere and he flops in the future. Then they are paying 3M for a meh coach.
