  1. That's just as bad then because we had 5 home games, that's $72K per game, or about 4838 tickets sold at $15 apiece. That isn't counting any parking revenue.

I'm not trying to argue or be a smartass just stating that I don't think $362K could possibly be ticket revenue for 5 home games. I could be wrong, my wife tells me I am all the time.

This is what was signed by Dr. Gretchen M. Bataille and submitted to the NCAA and Equity in Athletics report

  2. Then we are giving away a lot of free tickets and parking if we only had $72K in revenue. At an average of say $15 per ticket, thats only 4800 tickets sold all year long. On a true P&L statement, revenue, expenses, and profit are all listed.

    The question was per game.

The total ticket sales for the year was $362,904 under revenues by source.

  3. Under the new rules I have no real idea how the SCB would rule. Dodge is the person that request the medical redshirt. Are there ways around Dodge maybe but how do you get a scholarship without your coach?

You asked why the players just don't leave. Ask that question after this semester or before two-a-days start and we will discuss the 15 to 20 players that leave this year. My count has us at 7 and the season is not over.

  4. PHS,

Why then, if players are so mistreated (not saying they are or are not), then why don't they leave the team. What is there to gain by staying and wasting their lives? Nobody is going to the NFL, so why don't they just walk out. Nobody is a the door with a gun.

For some of these young men it is the only way for them to get a college education. They made a commitment to the school and the school made a commitment to them. Some of them want to live up to their commitment and stand up for a coach that is now turning his back on them. Miller is one of the players that needed the 5th year to get his degree and does not have the means to do that without the scholarship.

  5. What is the deal with the Miller situation? There must be something going on that we do not know about.....

Miller was good enough to play in 2006 on a defense that ended up around 75th in the nation. He was the leading returning player from last year but he is not good enough to play for Dodge. Dodge's defense is what about 119th in the nation? Joseph is a good kid but since he didn't test positive he can't play on this team. Apparently you must do drugs to play for Dodge at SLC and here.

  6. TD has recruited better than anyone since Coach OM. When you have so many frosh and soph playing, evidently, because they are better than the current Jr and Sr.....that should tell you something.

Rebuilding takes time and the coaches we have are very very good.

Tell that to FIU they are starting as many Fr. and RFr. as UNT but they are willing. Last year they won one game guess who????

  7. If PHSCoach is right, which I am not quite convinced of yet but I hope is true, Joe could sit out the remaining 2 games and could then UNT could apply to the Sun Belt for a medical hardship waiver which would give him a year of eligibility during the 2009 season.

Hell I don't know if that is how the SBC will rule. But as you said it is moot point if they are 1 going to play him in the next two games or 2 not apply for the medical

  8. 14.2.4 Hardship Waiver. A student-athlete may be granted an additional year of competition by the conference

or the Committee on Student-Athlete Reinstatement for reasons of “hardship.” Hardship is defined as

an incapacity resulting from an injury or illness that has occurred under all of the following conditions: (Revised:

    8/8/02, 11/1/07 effective 8/1/08)

    (a) The incapacitating injury or illness occurs in one of the four seasons of intercollegiate competition at any

two-year or four-year collegiate institutions or occurs after the first day of classes in the student-athlete’s senior

year in high school; (Revised: 1/10/92 effective 8/1/92, 11/01/01, 8/8/02)

    (B) The injury or illness occurs prior to the first competition of the second half of the playing season that

concludes with the NCAA championship in that sport (see Bylaw 14.2.4.3.4) and results in incapacity to

compete for the remainder of that playing season; (Revised: 1/14/97 effective 8/1/97, 4/26/01 effective 8/1/01,

  9. Yes, and both of those medical hardship waivers would be handled by the Sun Belt Conference.

Considering that each has medical documentation from doctors or training staff, Riley Dodge will almost certainly receive a medical hardship waiver from the Sun Belt because he has only participated in 3 games (25% of season) and Joe Miller would not be eligible because he participated in 4 games (33% of season). The NCAA set the participation limit at less than 30% and the Sun Belt uses that rule to grant or not grant the waiver.

rounded up to the next hole number
