  1. I agree for the most part with your first two paragraphs. But when you started talking about the 'real issue' with DD, you lost me. I was there for the Dickey years as a student, and the problem with him was not that he said those things, but that he didn't do anything to help fix them, and in fact, at times made it worse. I recall a practice where the Athletics Department advertised player autographs after the practice/scrimmage. After the practice was over, there were quite a few kids lining up to get autographs, and Dickey just herded his team right to the locker room. RV was furious, but there wasn't a whole lot he could do without getting into a shouting match right there in front of the fans (there was probably one later, though). Dickey constantly berated and belittled the fans, rather than focusing on encouraging them to attend games or give to the program. By contrast, under Dodge I've seen the players much more interactive with fans, and Dodge has most definitely thanked the fans for our support, while encouraging us to do more.

yea dd only got the money from Mac to build the Athletic Center, the day you are talking about the autographs the AD dept did not post anything in the locker room about this event. All of the players showed up for all events that they were aware of.

  2. This is an honest question as I really don't know...I mean no slam...but, are you a high school coach or a real estate salesman...or perhaps both?

And if you are or were a HS coach, why do you slam those in your profession so often?

I am a retired engineer and have a real estate license in the state of Texas. The father of a UNT grad. I have said the same thing about the two coaches in question for three years. I have never bad mounthed the Dodge's or will I. I liked DD but knew it was time for a change how it was handled was in question but that is history. Go to every away game and love to see the boys play.

  3. Honestly, I don't mind the bitterness. As long as he is still showing up for games. I could see why he would bitter. Question is- is your but in a seat during home games? That's all that matters to me.

Son will not go inside for any home games but we went to all the raod games and had a great time

  4. The whole "a high school coach" is why we were terrible the first year after DD is totally bogus. To quote Matt Simon, who I really didn't care for, "You HAVE to have some guys." After DD left, we did not "have some guys." Certainly not enough to win at the 1A level and trying to argue against that is simply silly. Even Hayden Fry could not have won with what was left - there were a few great players, but not enough to field a 1A team.

    Sorry dude

I would take the 11 def players that were comming back VS anything that TD has recruited,

On off lets see we had 3 good receivers, one of the best running backs in school history, two off linemen that are still playing

So get off this BS about what he had to have some guys......

His guys are now Jr. and I see very little out of them......

If dumb and dumber knew how to coach you would have some good players but they ran them off.........

  5. No one is giving Deloach a pass. But let's look at just how bad this defense is doing this year in points per game...I believe last year they gave up an avg of 45 point per game and this year through six games they are giving up 35.5 points per game. The offense last year I believe scored 19.6 points per game and this year are at 25.3 points per game. So just looking at those numbers alone, Deloach in just his second year coaching the defense they are 10 points better and Dodge with the offense is in year three and just now starting to get the offense increasing as there was little increase between years one and two. Throw in the fact that Deloach has already proven he can coach on this level and the jury is still out on Dodge.

Let take the Ball State game out and say we add K State or LSU and look at the points per game. The offense and defense would both look alot different......

  6. What those of us that see Riley's running ability (and ability to execute the zone read) as being an asset are saying is that your 1st and 2nd points are hopefully thrown out this coming year.

Riley will be able to execute the zone read, it will take a few games but it will happen, the only real problem is that his speed vs other team safties and LBers the advantage will go to them.

Our strengths going into next season will be the experience of our oline and the depth at RB. One would think that we'll be looking to take advantage of those relative strengths by trying to establish the running game. If we do that, that means that our QBs will have to get into the act as well....and that's where you'd expect Riley's running ability to help this team.

If Dodge puts some plays in that take the running back oustide the QB will not need to try getting around the corner. Last Vizza ran the ball about 8 times per game about the same as what he ran JoMO his SR. year. Running plays accounted for about 42% of the play calling. When you are behind that is alot.

  7. This is so stupid. There were no uniforms ordered. RV and Dickey were barely speaking. The players had asked for a black uniform and the compromise was the black pants. Some of the players had requested an all black uniform, not the majority of the team - but some of the junior and seniors. Those juniors and seniors knew that there had been resistance to the black pants and were angry that Dickey had been let go after all of his bad circumstances.

Send the FOI to the school and you will see that the Black shirts were paid for in Sept of 2006 along with the normal green and white ones. I have no idea what RV said or what DD said. I do know that the underclassmen had no input into black, green, blue or red. Also I have no idea what Jr. and Sr. wanted black just that they were paid for.

  8. Why don't you just spill the beans? It is much easier than one of us filing a FOI, and besides, how many fans are going to go through the effort to file a FOI.

If the information you have is true, why have you been afraid to share it for over two years?

I have stated this many times maybe you just don't want to know the truth about what went on the last year of DD

  9. Why not enlighten us with the, until now, unknown facts?

I kind of laugh at the irony of your signature every time I read your posts:

Unknown facts??? I have posted the same question for over two years and not one of you have filed a FOI to find the truth. All you want to do is run down the past coach and his staff for doing what he felt he owed the team after he had been released.

  10. I would be interested to hear why he thought it was entirely "ok" to go along with spitting in the face of our AD and wearing internet bought generic black uniforms with iron on letters. I think that a coach that loved NT and understood how much of an insult that would be would stand up and refuse to let it happen.

Why not ask your AD what happened to the black uniforms that you and your friends plus the students paid for and came up "missing" a week before they were to be worn. I would say that that is your AD spitting if the face of the Sr. and the rest of the team.

  11. The APR information that the North Texas compliance office submitted to the NCAA for the fall semester is the highest score ever posted by the Mean Green football team since the inception of the APR in 2003. If the team is able to repeat its academic performance this spring, North Texas would have one of the largest one-year improvements in the APR among all college football programs.

That is interesting as the APR only shows the number of players that are still with the team and the players that are not making grades. So all 18 players that left in the last year were in good standing?

  12. Again, I ask this question:

Vizza was spotted on Rice's sideline during the Texas Bowl. Is this a recruiting violation by Rice? Anyone know?

Vizza can call anyone that he wants. Coaches, players, trainers, ADs what ever he wants to do and it would not be a recruiting violation. So if he called and aske his friend who plays on Rice for some passes all would be fair.

If someone called him and gave him the passes all would be lost....

So I would have to say that Vizza did the contacting and got the passes on his own or his family did the calling.
