Annette Lorraine Ammean of Vidor, 37, charged with credit card abuse.

Sad to see this. Joey had some talent. Unfortunatly, Joey also had some unhealthy and illeagal addictions.

  2. I think the biggest challenge for Meager will be getting the damn play called. This is a no-huddle offense now. He couldn't get the plays in last year WITH a huddle. Maybe that was our old coaches? Don't know. It wasn't a big problem when Scott Hall was here.

All we need is for another QB who needs to call a time-out on the first play, on the first game of the season again. I know it was a few years ago, but that was embarrasing.

  3. No one else noticed the logo at midfield?

    Rick

I saw it, but didn't get too excited because I knew the photo was fake. I see Fouts everyday and I knew there was no logo on the field. I still think the SOW would look great at the 50 yard line, but no one cares what I think.

  4. Would it be too much to ask Riley Dodge to get his GED and skip his senoir year at Carroll?

I think we are in a worse QB situation than Carroll.

Please not that I am just kidding around and that I do not advocate dropping out of scholl in any way.

I don't want hate mail from the PC police.

  5. I went by Fouts today to see what the bull dozers were all about.

Looks like they are removing all the old chain link fencing around the gates and replacing it with a nice wrought iron fence. The main sections are already up around the main concourse. It looks nice.

I think they are trying to keep Fouts from looking so "trashy."

I didn't bother investigating the restrooms. I never liked going in there before because of the smell. I just tend to hold it as long as I can. I guess only time will tell if the restrooms are updated to a point that humans can feel comfortable in, not just the crickets.

  6. Did I miss something?

Is Matt Phillips not a candidate for the job? I thought he had a lot of promise. I think he would be a better QB with a better coach.

I also think it is way too early to give Meager the job. Vizza has a lot of talent and it wouldnt surprise me to see Dodge give him a shot at some point this year.

My biggest concern with Meager is his durability. He always seems to get hurt when we need him the most. He looks good at times, but he has also thrown some VERY untimely interceptions.

I agree with the other posters who think this starting QB job is still "wide open" heading into two-a-days.

  7. He rarely looks past the first receiver. Even when he scrambles, he is still looking at his first option throughout the play. From that video, it's easy to see why Mack Brown was recruiting him as an athlete and not a QB.

    Everyone is an expert.

Imagine if someone actually wore this to the SMU game. They would look like they were a ponies fan.

I think the guys at Voermans have been listening to the SMU Marketing team. They are trying to "Pony Up!"

  9. It was...the student referendum vote is essentially for the Board of Regents to guage the opinion of the student body...its not a binding agreement. I think more students would be on board with tuition increases if the Master Plan was better publicized...and they had a visual representation as to where their additional fees were going.

I think that the students want to pay as little as possible each semester. College students are not know for being the weathiest citizens in town. Now if the have a rich set of parents, then who cares what school costs.

  10. Football season ticket purchases increased 40.5% and contributions to the Mean Green Club rose by 24.1% since Dodge's arrival. In the first half of 2007, season ticket purchases totaled $245,616, up from $174,789 from April 1, 2006, through the 2006 season. Contributions to the support fund for athletic scholarships in that same period went from $296,240 to $367,492.

Divide $245,616 by $80 (price of a season ticket in Section E) = looks like a minimum of around 3,100 season tickets sold to date.

I bet most of the season tickets were sold on either side of section E. The $500 donation might be a bit steep for the novice (new) Mean Green Fan. I am happy to pay it and would not trade my seats in section E, but I bet most new season ticket holders are in other sections.

  11. During the mid to late 1970's building space in the Deep Ellum area bottomed out at around $2-$5 per square foot and many artists and small businesses moved in and revitalized an historically significant area...land speculation quickly followed as the Deep Ellum area is right next to downtown and was prime real estate to expand the downtown skyline. Admist discussion and protest, the city stepped in and formulated a plan known as The Near-Eastside Plan in the early 1980's that controlled land usage and established construction and height regulations...essentially saving the Deep Ellum area from becoming an expansion of the downtown skyline, as the market would've determined if city management wouldn't have recognized the importance of the area. Now, say what you want for what Deep Ellum has become today...but the area was a popular and economically viable area for nearly 20 years following this project.

Hate to break it to you Lifer...but socialism has its place in America...pure capitalism will leave you the exact same result as pure socialism...neither work without the other and this country is still very much weighted toward the capitalism.

Did you really just say that socialism has it place in America? It's that kind of thinking that scares me.

Let see where Socialism has been good for the common man.......

    Russia?

    Europe?

Sociaisml creates a huge divde between those in power and those without power. Capatialism give everyone a fighting chance. This country is great because a common, poor South Dallas boy can get an education and make something of himself. Hard work and the Entrepurnial spirit (the willingness to take risks) is the basis of Capatilism.

There are many men and women who fought long and hard to make sure we have the freedoms and opportunities to succeed in this country. I feel it is a great slap in the face to them to say that socialism has its place in America.

Opportunity has its place in America. If the people who had business on Fry wanted to save Fry St, they should have bought the property years ago. That would have insured that no one was able to raise their rent or sell their space.

Personally I felt that Fry St was an eye sore. It was a place to get drunk and get drugs. I'm glad that that corner of the University will be improved. I think it will have broader appeal to more people; not just the ones who want a dirty place to hang out and drink.

  12. Why do people on this board always want to make up chants? I don't understand. Nothing that is made up on this board will ever get past the 3 rows of people that make up this board. Stupid chants don't make my game experience any better. In fact, I've become beaten down by the NORTH TEXAS chant at times. I usually sit behind the talons at the games and they always throw out these chants trying to get them to catch on and they never work.

While we're on this topic, why do we have fans who have to "beep" when the opponent is moving backwards? I've always thought this was dumb.

I know a good doctor who can prescribe some anti-depressants. Sounds like you might need them. Cheer-up. Have some fun. There are more people who browse this board without posting much than you might think.

  13. I like the white helmet. It brings good color balance to the uniforms. I hated the all green uni's of years past. Green helmet, green jersey and green pants was a bad look. However, I did like the all green better than the all black.

Done right, a white helmet will be a good look, and it is a sign of a new era in NT football. It a reminder that there is a new sheriff in town, and his name is Dodge.
