  1. Thx, jason. I'll call you today. I'm with you on the record....wish it would've been a steal and dunk.
  2. Hey guys, do any of you know if the game was televised locally in your area tonite? If so, I'd like to contact them and see about getting a copy. Kinda historic for us with Bo breaking the record. Also, thanks for being so classy when Bo got his game ball. Great fans you have there.
  3. Congrats, Mean Green. That was a big time win for you guys. Any win at Diddle is a big one. I think the last time UNO won there was in the Tim Floyd era if I'm not mistaken and that's double digit years ago. We all knew even before you came to NO last week that you were big, agressive and dangerous inside and out. Seems like you proved that tonite. While I had hoped you'd lose (selfishly) so that we could have a 2 game lead on you, it certainly didn't pan out. And the fact that your guys didn't mope after losing a tough one here, shows what kind of team you have. I have to think that you will do very well in the west this year. I'd bet that game against Western later will be a big time attendance one. Enjoy. This is the Belt.
  4. Guys, a uno fan here. First, let me say just how impressive the UNT kids are. ALL of them are big, ALL of them can shoot and they played their tails off. Both sides did. Neither team deserved to lose this one. I agree with some of you about ft shooting if only because our guys, up until recently, couldn't buy a ft. Last year they were pitiful. This year, not much better until the last few games. Bo was horrible on ft's until this off season. Not sure what he did to get better but he's better now. Most of us here felt, and still do, that except for WKU, you guys are the top of the league right now. SB play is tough and anyone can beat anyone else, esp. this year. You guys just happened to have 2 road games to start the season and have KD out. Believe me, you'll do lots of damage in the west. Other than UALR, this side isn't too good. I would like to make one comment, and it's not meant in an ugly was but, some of the comments on this thread alluding to such a small crowd in a rinky dink gym are a little off base. None of us like having to play there 2 years in a row but, since FEMA, the state of LA and ins. companies are not helping with our arena, there's a chance that we won't have it back next year either. Also, it should be notetd that we haven't had good crowds for some time now but if you take the fact that the students are off AND that the WHOLE area around UNO is desolate, I think maybe you should have some understanding why. Katrina knocked that area down and out and, passing there today, still breaks our hearts. Please try to be understanding here. I'm not asking for pity, just understanding. Right now, about all we have to be positive about is our UNO teams and the saints....we sure can't count on our govt. I know the negative stories coming out of the media and understand the stuff some of our so called citizens have done in Dallas, Houston, etc, but we're not all like that. I just wish you guys could see if for yourself with your own eyes. It makes a difference. Sorry for the long post but I just had to make sure you guys didn't have the wrong impression of our place nor the wrong idea of how good your guys really are. Good luck the rest of the way.
  5. Congrats on the big win. You guys are one of the best in the West however, I take exception that your lost to the "worst" likely refers to UNO. UNO is not the worst team in the SB or the West side. We are 2-2 in conf and beat you guys on the road, which is almost as big a win as your win tonite. The kids at UNO have had more adversity in 4 months than most people do in a lifetime and yet, if you've seen them play, you'll know that they have NEVER used Katrina or the injury to 2 starters as an excuse. INstead, they've gone out and proven otherwise. If we could all learn by their example.
  6. I've spent way too much time trying to talk sense to you folks so this'll be my last post here until our next game together. Get over it. You lost. JUST like we lost at home to MTSU. Almost the EXACT same way. Bad refs, good refs, liking Towe, hating Towe. The bottom line is we won and you don't like our coach. Life goes on, even in Dallas. If all some of you want to do is be there in person JUST to TRY to aggravate Towe, that's sad. GET A LIFE! Good luck tonite against USA. You guys have a great shot at beating them. See you on 2/26. Come on down and see our place and maybe give Towe your grief. I bet he can handle it.
  7. "Would you appreciate that if Coach Jones behaved like that in your arena? He won't, he is much calmer and under control than that, but Towe clearly is not and had it on full display last night. " I'll tell you what....I'll get back to you after our next game. I've seen EVERY NT game in Lakefront arena since you've joined the belt, I'll be at this one too and let you know how Jones acted. I'm willing to bet you right here and now that he not only walks on the court (as he did last night at the ft line) but he also stays OUT of his coaching box ( a box that NO coach honors, right or wrong). Listen, Johnny's a very good coach, but he's no better or worse than the other 10 in the SB. ANd, he's no saint. Go to a few more home games in the PIT and I BET you you'll be complaining about 2 things.....the sB refs and the opposing coach. Seen Jessie Evans lately?
  8. Actually, many of us have asked him to go back to the tshirt/jacket combo. Majerus wears sweaters.. So what? As to the comment, "It's not what he wears or how many kids he graduates, it is his behavior on the court(yes, he is on the court, not on the sideline." How many games have you been to were BOTH coaches stayed in their box? Until the refs tee em up, they're ALL gonna do it. "I don't think he is a homeless schmuck, when I am coaching I would love to have the job and salary he has. But the way he used to dress with a T-SHIRT under a bad suit looked like a homeless schmuck compared to the way Coach Jones appears impeccably dressed." Again, what dif does it make what he's wearing? How many football coaches wear suits? Why wear a suit to get all sweaty and dirty? It's a game, not an interview. As for the salary he has, Monte is likely one of the lowest paid coaches in the league. UNO's athletic budget is extremely small. Yea, he probably makes more than you and me but compared to his peers (and their success), he's underpaid.
  9. I'm really not sure what a coach wears to a game matters. Do you go to a funeral and pay attention to what the corpse is wearing? A coach is judged by wins and losses, how his kids behave, graduate and then play. Monte's done a decent job here with what he's had and what was left from the former system. I've gotten to know him from going to coaches shows and I can tell you that he's not a "weasel", a "homeless schmuck" or any of the other things mentioned. He's an experienced coach who's won more than he's lost. I've also watched him coach....I've watched Tim Floyd coach as well as Tic Price. He's as good an x and o's guy as has ever been here. I'm not disputing the call or how bad the refs were. I've seen it firsthand for years at Lakefront how bad SB refs are. (you should have been to our game against WKU last week). Maybe the fact that Monte has had success against NT is the problem. I respect NT, Coach Jones and the players. It seems to be a classy university with a classy coaching staff. Until proven otherwise, I don't plan on resorting to put downs of your coach and I'd like to think most of you would do the same. You'll have your chance to pay us back in a few weeks.
  10. I wasn't there so I obviously can't say if it was right or wrong but I've noticed the SB refs have called lots of charges this year. Our guard, BO McCalleb is so quick that he gets called for charging quite often. As to complaints about Monte and working the refs, I can't agree in total. Don't know about last night. I did hear our radio announcer say after the Johnson charge that Johnny went all the way to the FT line to complain, then turned on another ref and was about to get a T but he didn't so I guess he worked them too. We have to face it, in this league, we won't have decent refs, esp on Sat nights. Your team is much improved over the last 2 years and you have a good coach. You've won some BIG games on the road and like us, lost at home. This will be a strange year in the belt. Good luck except on 2/26.
