When North Texas coach Tony Benford looked at his team heading into his third season at the school, he saw several key holes he and his staff needed to address.
Benford couldn’t have been happier with how UNT filled a few of them on Wednesday, when the Mean Green signed junior college standouts Muhammed Ahmed and Todd Eaglin.
Ahmed, a 6-foot-7 forward, was named a third-team NJCAA All-American last season, when he averaged 17.6 points and 7.6 rebounds a game for Gillette (Wyo.) Community College. Eaglin ranked third among junior college players nationally with an average of 7.6 assists a game to go along with 15.2 points a game. The 5-foot-10 guard from Tyler Junior College was a second-team All-Region IV selection.
