I think we need to stop making it seem like Ruder failed because he was “rushed.” He didn’t have to be lights out by the SMU game. He was given time and by game 4 he started 3-10 for 13 yards, more than 4 months after he got to Denton.

We’re talking about guys in their 4th year of college like Ruder was last year and Gunnell will be this year. 4 months of learning an offense that doesn’t have a ton of plays or read progressions, and 4 games under their belt, if they are still struggling and not showing signs of progress, that says more about the player than them being rushed IMO.

if you only knew how things went down. Jace got to Denton in June. No contact with coaches cause they were recruiting.  Coaches are on vacation in July. Still no contact with coaches.  First contact with coaches fall camp. So you really don’t know shit.

The headline made me think that we don’t have a good FBS level QB and the coaches know it.  And after reading the article my suspicions were confirmed.  Compared to what we saw last year one of those 4 quarterbacks should look dramatically better than Ruder or Aune looked in spring 2021.  I actually feel bad for Brett "Associated Press 2018 Star Sportswriter of the Year Award-winner" Vito.  I truthful headline like “The 2022 Mean Green Offense will Probably Suck” would put his press pass in jeopardy.

Jace wasn’t even here in spring of 2021.   Didn’t even have a practice with the team til August 2021.

Some guys have been here for years and continually heard "this year will be different" just for it not to be different. Some people are fed up with the same old, same old. It's really nothing personal against the players. We respect them and thank them for their contributions to the team and school. It's mainly just we have one of the most overpaid and underachieving head coaches in the country and some of us have felt he should have been gone years ago because that's when we lost faith in them being able to do anything more with this program. If you think it's bad now, just imagine how it will be if this team loses to SMU (yet again) with a brand new head coach while ours is on his 7th year. I would advise not coming anywhere close to this board around that time if this happens.

This may all be true, but SMU has a lot more money in their program than we do.  We could have had a game changer WR transfer here from UNC, but guess where he ended up. $$$$. We have kids on this team on scholarship that are working part time jobs to pay rent.

Was this at the athletic center or a team hotel? @NWKGREEN

Actually they made them park down by the softball area because they had to let people park in the hood lots for the game. All football players. I didn’t say it was because of their record, I said that could be some of the reason for the bad game.

  5. I know most of you all are done with this team. But Thursday night 19 of their vehicles got all the glass broke out of them. Many had things stolen. I really feel this had a lot to do with last nights performance. You can say why you want, but when you are 19-28 years old and you find out something like this it will affect you.  College says that the families are responsible for all the damage so that puts a bigger burden on these kids. Have a little grace if you would when you are beating these guys up on here this week. Parents do see this shit.

I agree Ruder is waiting for receivers to get open. The touchdown he threw was almost too late. As the receiver ran across the back of the end zone, he almost threw it into a defender. The ball should have been thrown as he made his cut when he was wide open.
Fine made a hell of a living here throwing quick slants to a spot and trusting the receivers to be there.
Haven’t seen that so far with Ruder.

I also believe a lot of that trust comes with developing chemistry with the receivers. That just takes some time. The way UAB’s defenders mugged all of our receivers on every vertical route. None of our receivers got any separation from a defender.
Quick slants would have helped with that tight man to man coverage. Our QB and receivers just don’t seem to be clicking yet.

The touchdown was the third option, so it is gonna look late. They stopped the run game with 5 and dropped 7 into coverage all night. 3 of top receivers didn’t play in the game and one of them got injured on Wednesday.

So our fans are all front-runner bandwagon  jumper-on’er type fans who don’t want to be seen at Apogee unless it’s fashionable to be seen there, but only when things are going great guns inside our house? Sounds more like the school that’s located in one city but is begging for support from another.

😊I know what your saying, HG, just wish before I kick the bucket that it would change.

That is what it looks like to me. I am really surprised by how bad the so called “fans” talk about the team and its players.  I happened to be at the game Saturday and SMU is bigger, faster, stronger than UNT.  I was proud of how UNT came out and competed.  It is all a money issue in my opinion.
