P.S. I also like how he points out that higher profile programs basically recruit players from the mid-majors

It does suck for the mid-majors but on the other hand there are a lot more spots open in return for high school recruits that used to be takes for high profile programs, but their spots fill up with transfers so a lot more borderline top 100 players each recruiting class are ending up at mid-majors now. It’s almost not worth it for high majors to recruit those high 3* or low 4* types anymore when they can try to lure a proven college player in the transfer portal so you have teams like Dayton getting really good 4-year players out of it that aren’t quite developed to an elite level yet but still good gets.

Great matchup! Excited to see how our program's continuity and development will matchup against a supposedly higher tier of talent, but victims of roster turnover.

Yeah 10 new players on the Arkansas roster is pretty crazy.

    -3 immediately eligible grad transfers

-3 transfers who sat out last year (one tore his ACL however so won’t play)

    -4 freshman high school recruits

Guess that’s just college basketball today though.

This is a bad loss and does not bode well for the rest of this season.  Arkansas is in a complete rebuild and may be one of the worst teams in the SEC.  The problem with all of these additions is we really don't appear to have a true point guard and it shows.  There is very little team chemistry and hopefully that will develop as the season progresses.

I don't think we'll be that bad. Lunardi has us as next 4 out right now. We made the NIT last year and wouldn't surprise me if we did again this year but Musselman is a better coach than Anderson was and Isaiah Joe-Mason Jones should be one of the best guard combos in the SEC. We have finished higher than projected almost every single year in the last decade. We'll get better once we get our starting center back from suspension too.

It's still early. We beat a Rice team by 48 who beat Penn, who beat Alabama. I was impressed with your defense and there will be nights when your shots fall better than they did last night. If you judge the whole season based on results from the first few games then Kentucky will be lucky to make the tournament.

With the ladies soccer also drawing a trip to Fayetville in the NCAA tournament, heres hoping for a UNT sweep. And I think it is actually not completely out there that it could happen.

If that's the case I hope you aren't on our baseball schedule next year 😂

EDIT: After looking it up I realized UNT doesn't have a baseball team. That's surprising to me. Seems like baseball would do well in that area.

I never understood the Chad Morris hire at Arkansas either. The guy was mediocre and only had one winning season (7-6) at SMU. My uneducated guess is that Chad was a Dallas area coach, and Arkansas has a lot of ties to the Dallas area.. Especially with Jerry Jones being an supportive alumni and paying Arky/A&M to duke it out at Jerryworld.

    1. Style of offense (actually getting into the 21st century)

    2. Texas recruiting connections

    3. He did improve SMU from 1-11 to 7-6...similar rebuild situation needed here

Does help that his son was high school teammates with John Stephen Jones though. He and Jerry knew each other well.

Morris didn’t play Storey because the game was already out of hand. I would bet he already planned to start Storey this week after Kelly’s performance. Why get him beat up in a game that was already decided, where your O-Line had quit, and the opposing D had been swarming all day. Get the young guys some reps. If it was 17-10 or even 24-10 when Kelly threw his 4th INT you would have seen Storey.

Probably also didn't want to give the freshmen their first college football action on the road @ Auburn.

Doesn't really matter who the QB is if the OL doesn't give them any time to throw though.

They haven't had Greenlaw so far, have they?   Are they going to have him?   He would be a huge addition.

Sounds like he will be back, only played a quarter so far against Eastern Illinois but had 10 tackles. DE Randy Ramsey and LT Colton Jackson will be back after not playing in the first two games.

Only player we've missed so far that it sounds like may not be back yet is our nickel Kevin Richardson.

  8. It is perplexing how you can miss a 20 yard kick so badly and not succeed somewhere but then kill it by going somewhere else.

Most people don't think there's much coaching that goes into kicking but apparently it does make a difference. Bielema's special teams were awful. I think most Arkansas fans put it on him. Do you guys have a dedicated special teams coach? We didn't under him and still don't under Morris and some fans wish we did but the staff handles it as a committee.

Very nice looking road unis. I always think of the helmet contrast with the opponent's helmet for Fine's benefit in picking up receivers...this should get the job done!

In my twisted mind's eye, I always see us wearing these unis, home or away:

I'll be sure to alert our team to wear white helmets 😁

  10. I would recommend parking at Baum Stadium (baseball) for free and taking the shuttle over to the football game. With the loss last week, not sure how less-than-normal crazy it will be. But I would probably get there 2 hours before the game if you want a guaranteed spot.

There are paid parking spots all over the place closer to the stadium if you want to walk around and see things though.

For us, as much as our fanbase can't see it, Petrino left Jeff Long no options.  He lied to him.  You can't lie to your boss, you leave him no option.  If he'd of just told him the truth I think they could have worked around it, even came up with some bs about the girl being qualified for the job, blah blah blah.  But he straight up lied to him and got caught.

Also tried to bribe an Arkansas State Trooper to cover it up lol

I was thinking along these lines too....however someone made the point above....P5s don’t lose to G5’s twice in a row. Arkansas knows that. And then they start looking at film of us. And our receivers. And Mason Fine. Then they look at how a Colorado St team that doesn’t have Mason fine or our receivers gashed their D pretty good. Then they look at our film again. Then they start thinking how P5s don’t lose to G5’s twice in a row.

CSU does have a pretty good passing game. Preston Williams is a former 5* and killed us with some insane catches. Their QB was at Washington and almost transferred to UCLA.

The thing that's pretty pathetic is that we only scored 27 on their awful defense. And we didn't allow a TD in the first half but let them score 25 unanswered points in the second half...not sure how that happens.

They (Arkansas) gave up 25 unanswered points to lose the game. While, their rushing game looked better today, their defense is not very good this year (certainly not good enough to be competitive in the SEC).   We will turn a lot of heads next week and I'm even more confident after today's games.  Go Mean Green!

Looked like a carbon copy of the last two years. Defense and run game were dominant in first half but had to settle for FGs, then defense gives up in second half while passing game isn’t good enough to build on the lead and eventually they come all the way back to win.

Not expecting to win next week. Really depressing that there wasn’t a noticeable difference from Bielema.
