  1. There is nothing on this planet I hate more than the invisible line between the P5 and G5, except maybe cats. Cats are pricks. If your "subdivision" has 10 conferences, the 10 conference champs should play it off to determine the national champ. Not rocket surgery. If that seems ridiculous, then the invisible line between P5 and G5 perhaps should become a real line and a new "subdivision" should be created where the G5 schools have our own national championship.

Nice perspective here. Defense did improve a lot through the course of the game. And in reality, even in the first quarter, were burned in blitzes on the two big plays. The Hail Mary on 3rd and 45 was a darn fluke.

We need some of this new depth in the secondary (Jenkins, Baulkman, Turner) to step up and contribute. I believe that their raw athleticism will be a nice shot in the arm for this team and will improve the overall defensive speed.

Good points. Speaking of a "nice shot in the arm", dont forget we get our best WR back this week too.

Beat the absolute dog piss out of them in Apogee (again), they will start to hate that they hate us.

This^^!! They are already talking about the fact that SMU has yet to win in Denton. One guy was posting all of Vito's camp reports on their board too. Rivalries are born on the field over time. Just beat their ass.

Even if they are, depth will be a big problem. We need no injuries and we need English to

    be approved by the NCAA.

We should have a decent influx of depth here in the fall though with the JUCO kids. Everywhere except DT anyhow. English would be huge - but I'm assuming he won't be eligible.

    4. Did not like the fact that a UNT's QBs wore red jerseys so as not to be hit; believed every player had to scrimmage in full contact, game conditions.

He did say this - that knowing you won't get hit slightly changes the way a QB plays. But he also said he had a medical redshirt from a hit from Booger during a Spring game LOL. So there's that.

I was set on letting ours play in junior high, and I see where many NFLers now say to wait until junior high or later.  And, we are still debating it.  He's a big little guy, and he's so eager to get out there and do it.

The thing that got me thinking was Junior Seau's suicide.  I always viewed him a one of the toughest guys to ever play the game.  But, less than three years after he retired, the pain and confusion were so bad for him, he felt he had to kill himself.

It also does bother me when industries hide their dirty laundry.  Tobacco industry was a big one to me - having doctors hawk your product when you had studies showing you had bad it is.  Here, NFL, the teams, their doctors, and the equipment companies all hid their dirty laundry when people came in the front door to visit.

Whether or not our son ever plays, I'm happy that we have more information about the dangers of the sport than those in Junior Seau's generation and before had.  Seeing him die, seeing the mighty Earl Campbell - maybe the best running back I've ever seen - in a wheelchair by 50...you know, it gives you second thoughts.

You are basing your decision on whether or not to let your son play junior high football - on Junior Seau and Earl Campbell?? Do you have a guess as to what the odds are of your son having a long NFL career at this point would be - let alone the HOF career of two of the more physical guys that ever played? Hell, only 3-4% of high school players get the chance to play in college.

Has everyone forgotten Augie DeBiase?  I'd have to think that he's the next option if he's still interested, although Burns does look like he could have potential.

I dont see anything Debiase clearly does better than Burns. I think Burns reads the defense better, thus getting rid of the ball more quickly and with better accuracy. I see Debiase hesitating and making plays on the run. I'll take Burns.
