  1. Genuine question. If Seth was fired for plateauing and not continuing to elevate the program then why are so many unproven/mediocre candidates being talked about? I can get behind moving on from Seth if the narrative is that he wouldn't be able to hang with the top tier so we're going to get a top tier coach. But only two people on this list have experience being the head coach of a team that competed with the top tier. Why is there not more discussion on names like Paul Chryst, David Shaw, Ed Orgeron? Maybe we end up feeling like they're not the best fit but I'm just trying to figure out where the fan bases expectations are and why everyone's earlier outcry is not matching their current thought process.

Mason Fine did not get nearly as much publicity as he deserved. This stemmed largely from the fact that he was a C-USA quarterback. If Fine played in any higher conference, he would have gotten more scouting recognition. While his size was ultimately his problem, he would have without a doubt benefitted greatly from playing against greater competition. If Fine played in a better G5 conference, or even a P5 conference, he would have gotten drafted in the middle rounds of the draft.

Genuinely curious. Can someone explain to me why this is a bad take when Kyler went first overall and Mason likely won’t ever play in the NFL? Theoretically, according to the responses to this post, Kyler Murray also goes number 1 overall if he played one season at UNT?

There’s nothing else the department could really do. They ran a freaking Heisman campaign for the guy, it just sucks that we were hot garbage last year. Also the global pandemic didn’t help at all. I still have trust that the Administration can get us back on the right track. In Wren we trust.

Thank you. This was the only logical response thus far

Just out of curiosity, what does the admin do to make that happen?  You think they're not trying to do that already?

Can someone answer this question? I see a lot of people angry at the department for not having producing a pick but I’m missing what they could have done with Mason specifically to ensure that he gets drafted

Guess that free ride thru college and a small monthly stipend doesn't count.....guess......show me the money!!

But like, it doesn’t. If attendance drops this season it’s highly unlikely that the program loses scholarships in the immediate season. The decision to redshirt literally won’t affect him financially at all. I’m not saying it’s right I’m just saying it is what it is.

I don’t see a win. I hope for an upset but we must play a prefect game to win. Arkansas will not pass on us to much. They will run all over us. They will use there size to break us down. We will give up big runs. Our guys have not seen this kindof speed and size this year. Arkansas will be ready to play at home.  Just hope fine makes it out of Fayetteville.

This makes logical sense. HOWEVER, if you watched that CSU/Arkansas game closely there were tons of times that it would have made sense to just run the ball on CSU and Arkansas still chose to pass. For whatever reason, they're calling pass plays even when everything indicates that it won't work.

SOS is pretty irrelevant for us, given that even if a G5 goes undefeated the CFP Committee still won’t give them any playoff consideration.

That's kind of what I was thinking but I'm in an optimistic mood tonight so I was considering draft profiles at the end of the year.

  8. Arkansas is about to lose to Colorado State pending a miracle

This has to be seen as a negative thing for us, right? SOS doesn't look as good and now Arkansas will have an extra layer of motivation to not get upset two weeks in a row.

  9. I know we're jumping ahead a few weeks here but I just saw that UAB has us as their homecoming game this year.

We put a lot of emphasis on the SMU/UTSA games because of the rivalry and La Tech seems to be getting a lot of the West attention but I think UAB is coming to make a statement this year. I'm sure we're circled on their calendars.

Not having read the formal complaint, and only piecing together based upon the tweet from SGA -- I don't think the complainants have have a strong case.  Being a former SGA President, we had several people certify that we could actually conduct an election.  The policy clearly states three things can't happen:

    1.  No new curricular content - that relates to teaching new materials by faculty

    2.  Student Organizations do not meet - if there is any case, it would be this one.  Did student orgs meet to discuss the vote?  From my understanding, these policy refers to formal or official meetings of these organizations.  That would be more of an organizational issue, and not an SGA issue.

    3. No extracurricular activities will be required - again, did a or several organizations make it "mandatory" for their people to vote?  That may be the one thing that is left up to interpretation.

It's a really smart move for anyone who opposes it though. They probably knew the election board couldn't meet which would delay the results and now that means an increase can't go into effect until Fall 2018 if it even gets approved by the election board.

If the board decides that there needs to be a special election to revote then it won't look good for the referendum because as anyone who's been apart of a runoff knows (2013/2014 SGA VP), it's much harder to get students to vote twice for something that you already got them to vote for.

  11. I try to be as realistic with my expectations as possible but I really think this year's squad can beat that Texas Tech team. I've seen a few comments doubting that but I'm wondering if that's just because of the historical mindset that they're better at football than we are or if those are opinions based off of observation and facts. I've watched all of our games and at least half of the Texas Tech ones. I'm just not that afraid of them this season.

  12. Using the attendance numbers from ESPN, it looks like we've increased from 19,878/game last year to 22,362/game this year. 2,500 more fans per game is definitely something to be happy about. Now we just need to transition them into the MGC.
