Hey guys, I know I'm new to this board and UNT basketball, but from the comments it doesn't sound like many here played college ball or coached at a high level. I agree with Andrew, constant motion, after a long practice, early in the year- you will not see many makes. Looking at the date, the video is a month old, when I assume summer workouts for some were just beginning.
As a coach, I see this team has more size than last year and probably better guard play. On paper, they should be able to play uptempo a lot more than last year. But we won't know until they get into real practices and we see a scrimmage or two. Just my take.
RIP Darryl Dawkins...
Looks like Benford finally discovered GMG.com....

Well sure, but in what flavors?
Underrated line.

I don't know about all the marketing banter but there are two things that stick out to me. 1. If UNT would win, then people would come watch them play. If TCU had our record, they'd have attendance problems. Especially if they were still in CUSA. 2. Joe T Garcia's was sold to me as the greatest fajitas of all time. Total rubbish. I could have gone to Hacienda Ranch 30 seconds from my house for better fajitas. Their standard Mexican food was not good either but I'm from El Paso.
Anyone who told you that Joe T's has the greatest fajitas of all time had a few too many margs that night. The food is good, but there's nothing that really sets it apart from other places. When you go there it's all about good drinks and a fun atmosphere.

So, he committed 15 days ago and we are just now finding out?
I thought it was funny that my post was breaking news to Vito on it.

He also made it to state as part of the 4x4 relay team.

I haven't seen anything posted about him yet. Deion is the quarterback at my old high school. He's a great kid and a great athlete. I think it's safe to say we're bringing him on board as an athlete.

"The big question remains when UNT will move forward with its plans to restart its baseball program. I first wrote the story that the program is just around the corner in 2004. Well, Rick Villarreal reiterated that there could be some news in the next few days that will set the stage for UNT to move forward with its plans. My assumption is that could involve a resolution to the accounting fiasco that has UNT waiting to see how much money it will have to pay back to the state. There are enough big money boosters who could step in once that is settled and put the program on the fast track."
Has there been any update on the news about the baseball program? RV said a month ago that'd we'd get news in a few days, and we all know how his word is as good as gold....

This DaMarcus Smith tweet from 6-22 got me the most fired up.

"There are still plenty of issues—most notably at quarterback, where UNT returns all three shaky signal-callers from a season ago, led by Andrew McNulty. Josh Greer and Dajon Williams also could see snaps."
This tells you everything you need to know about Bleacher Report.

This story along with the Baylor player story just made Norm's show.
I think we should just cut this guy loose. The wideout position is actually pretty deep right now and it sends a message to the rest of the team that crap like this will no longer be tolerated. There is no excuse for his actions.

The last 100 year anniversary season we won a bowl game, so I'm all for another one!

"The NFL's fine, but it doesn't have the spirit of Michigan and North Texas going at it in the Orchard Tumult."
Got this on my 3rd try

Don't lie to us Harry. This clearly is an attempt to spread the pro-RV agenda.

NBC article:
"Williams started three of the eight games in which he played, including his first career start in which UNT tied a Conference USA scoring record in a 77-7 rout of FCS Nicholls State."
"Johnson redshirted his true freshman season after coming to Denton as a two-star member of UNT’s 2013 recruiting class."
Glad to see they proof read this article.

My mom scored for Carlos on Saturday and she said he was the nicest guy in the group. She also said he had a pretty good size crowd following for most of the round and you could tell that they were following the group to watch him (mostly Hispanics or people wearing UNT gear). I watched him play a few holes one Sunday and his swing looked really good, but he just couldn't buy a putt out there.

This is on the same level as the new ticket ticker and traffic beds...

I see this, "I'm not going to buy tickets until someone calls me and asks" reasoning a lot on here. Makes no sense to me. If you know you want tickets, call and get tickets.
That's because other universities that care will pick the phone and call. I've grown up with UT and TCU season tickets and I can assure you that each school had reps calling as soon as the tickets went on sale.
-
I'm a December grad and nobody has contacted me at all about buying season tickets. Hell, nobody at the University even contacted me about joining the MGC. Thankfully I posted about that fact months ago on this board and KRAM was able to direct me on how to join the MGC.
Several friends and I want to get seats in the young alumni section, but we're not going to do so until the school reaches out to us. I LOVE this university and want to support it, but things like this drive me crazy to no end. Why should I give another dime to UNT if they won’t even dial the phone?
-
Regardless of what their attendance actually was, watching a game played in that stadium was an embarrassment for their university and for CUSA.
That's true, but I've been to enough Mean Green games over the years to know that people could say the same thing about us.

"UAB, which cut its football program but is considering reinstating it in the coming weeks, had the second-biggest rise, jumping from 10,548 fans per game to 21,841."

Finished tied for 8th they are just 6 shots out, which is not all that much, and actually a decent showing considering UNT was seeded a decent bit lower than that.
That said, it was quite the choke job at the end there, making a tough chase out of a lead. Particularly that quadrouple bogey on the last hole by the otherwise very good Jason Roets really soured the thing. Wonder what happened there.
6 shot isn't overwhelming, but when you look at what schools are in the top 5 they have their work cut out for them. I don't really see any of those teams giving up much ground, but then again all it takes is for 2 players to play bad on the same day and it can be there for the taking.
Our 4 golfers we counted today played the final 3 holes +10. I hope that stretch doesn't come back to haunt us on Saturday.
-
+11 for the day...they really fell apart on the final 3 holes (7,8,9) as a team. This will be a tough deficit to overcome, but they still have 36 to play.

As of now, no UNT players have been in the first round of cuts. Hopefully this continues through the 3 PM deadline!
