II don’t believe that. Your working with a very small undergraduate enrollment at TCU as it is.

Most TCU alums I know are doing pretty good in Texas & wouldn’t the ones who’ve been in California be coming back here now (or soon will be)? California is a shit hole financially run by a bunch of Marxists who can’t run their own families.   See their results thus far? It will get worse. Let them experience all of it & see but...If what your saying were true then getting in the PAC12 would be a piece of cake for the Froggies. (Not going to happen).

Well you're welcome to believe what you wish. Really it has little to do with how UNT fares, but as a TCU alum, and someone who worked for TCU for 4 years I do know the institution has created a model that makes it a "destination" type school for the east and west coast elites. They are popular there, and the fanbase (Just like Texas, Tech, etc.) is made up of much more than just alumni. That's proven itself to be true when you see how well they travel.

The author of that piece lost me at “TCU has a large following in Southern California.”  Not sure how large a following TCU has outside Tarrant County (although today I did see an old TCU pennant at a Weatherford eatery).

Congressman (& TCU super alum Roger Williams) must be very sick about all this, but he really does a good job of evangelizing Parker County for Frogdom.

VERY large following. Believe it or not the majority of students at TCU are not from Texas. They are overwhelmingly Californians.

  3. Absolutely spot on. I felt horrible last night, and I still do. But I’m sure that pales in comparison to how those kids feel, and how I’m positive Mason feels. I hope he’s ok, and I will say that it doesn’t feel good feeling so bad about a loss, but that is a real good indicator that we have come so far from where we once were. Where suddenly we are devastated because our UNT, yes North Texas, had a chance at an undefeated season. We need to digest this loss and yet be extremely thankful and feel blessed by what we are seeing. GMG

I understand yesterday was a big kick in the nuts. But it was UTEP senior day and post Thanksgiving game and those games are just wierd. Yes the D played rough yesterday. But if not for the D we wouldn't have as many W as we do.

But just 12 months removed from being the worst team in FBS and the laughing stock. We were able to win 5 games with most of the same roster with a first year coach. Getting 5 or more wins has only happened 3 times for us in the last 12 years. So I find it idiotic that we would say turn down the bowl. With so many academic suspension and violations this day and age. I find it as a sense of pride that our team has excelled enough in the class that they will qualify for a bowl. I believe that will help as much in recruiting as getting 6 wins. especially with parents. Let's say we go and win the Bowl game. Recruits will just see Las Vegas Bowl Champs or Independence Bowl champs.. not they limped in with 5 wins. And I don't know about yall but I want to get the UTEP taste out of my mind ASAP I don't want to go another 10 months with that as our last game. AND just a side note you saw how tough to we were with Army after having 2 weeks to prepare. Give us a month to prepare for bowl game and I say we win the Son of a bitch!!

    Great thoughts jayD!

How about our team just sucks? Seriously, our D makes an above average running back look like a Heisman candidate, our special teams, mainly punter, has butter fingers, and our offense is pretty pathetic.

The only thing worse than our play today was the shitty camera coverage. UTEP's a punchline and they smoked us. I'm ashamed today and this team and staff should be ashamed. This is total bs.

I really am embarrassed to be a fan and alumni today.

I feel the EXACT same way.

If you're gonna kick players off the team then there needs to be a damn explanation. And "team rules" does not suffice....Brett....Vito.....

See "Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act" Yes, they are ball players and yes we all have a vested interest in seeing our teams succeed, but these are students. They are student's first. Not employees. http://www2.ed.gov/policy/gen/guid/fpco/ferpa/index.html

  7. I swear you'd rearrange the furniture in a blind kid's house. We all know this is vastly inferior competition but let people feel goid after the quarterbacking we've endured.

    +1. We aren't all that stupid. We know this is A. a D2 team. B. a horrible team. 3. A home game.

Lets enjoy this win until tonight and then think about two weeks from now. Amen?

  8. I get it with a good crowd... I really do. But when my isle in 105 is 3/4 empty in the 2nd quarter.... let people come fill it in.

I actually left to go sit with them and was initially turned away from sitting below the empty Wingzone....

That was the toughest ticket enforcement I have ever seen at Apogee.

From what I heard there were a few "young alumni" who were very displeased with seat stealing, etc. on their side of the stadium. Maybe someone brought it up to the ticket people?

  9. There are graduate assistance on all divison one football teams who also generally help with QBs, thgh technically this falls under Canales for UNT.

Assistants? Or assistance? Do we need assistants or assistance? ;) also.... I doubt that about "all" D1 teams. Yes, Chico is the go to guy for QB's.. frankly, I'm ready to see him move on to other places.

  10. Same here

I have bought tickets and attended a few games each year since Apogee opened. I never get emails. I am an alum and I never get emails. I bought a HOD helmet. I was never asked about tickets. They simply don't do enough. I bought season tickets on my own with no help from anyone.

  11. I'll say that it does take a degree. That's my professional opinion. But that's neither here nor there..

I was making a connection with a UNT Alum+Fan=Effective marketer.

Like Mean Green Man interjected above, its obvious he has marketing qualifications=superfan status. Can you imagine HIM doing marketing for UNT? It be great.

  12. I can understand your sentiments. By the same token, there are a number of things that are probably keeping people from the games. We've discussed these at length in other threads.

My thoughts on Thursday are as follows: ONE: Its a Thursday. TWO: opponent. THREE: Ticket pricing and options.

Now I'll be the first to say that I believe that we get an extremely good value for our money at UNT. But honestly, that's owed to us given the level of competitiveness we've had and the product on the field we've been subjected to over the years.

There are allot of young families who just don't want to go. Pricing, convenience, whatever. My brother in-law used to be a faithful attender. (He's also a UNT employee) but He nearly crapped his pants once he saw the ticket pricing. Granted he's a tightwad like the rest of my in-laws, but you catch the idea.

I'll add this: I'm a MG Club member, "recent" alumni, season ticket holder ( for 3 years straight now)... and I don't get emails either which is strange.

Maybe one of the most difficult things for the marketing team is that they are passing all the actual work onto their Interns instead of getting out there and taking some ownership in the organization they represent.

Working for UNT Athletics Mktg should require a degree from UNT maybe?

  13. I like the part talking about how Benford was not brought in to emulate JJ but instead bring in a completely new look to the team. Even though we are talented it is not the end of the world of we continue to lose this season. Rebuilding takes time and everyone understands this is a team rebuilding. Well everyone but (as the article put it) the illogical, emotion driven and out of touch with reality fans. I guess they mean Emmitt, NT90 and cry me a river crew.

Benford was given this team on a silver platter. HE F'd it up!

  14. At LSU and a lot of other schools you won't see one Greek letter on gameday. Not sure why that is, but I loved it. Makes it more about supporting your school and not a dick measuring contest between fraternities.

This is just another attempt by UNT to get rid of Greek life

    Now THIS is funny. haha...

Also, I believe if I read the article correctly, alcohol is banned "until a task force is created on alcohol education." Its all in the wording...
