Way too young. I am not too familiar with the situation & didn't know Willie personally but anyone who did, has spoken very highly of the man he was. Many former players have reached out to pay tribute to Willie, but looks as if he has passed due to cancer. Some things just don't make sense, let's keep the Hubbard family in our thoughts & prayers.

First sellout in 2027?? All joking aside, this is why you hired the man, & he followed through.. Excited to welcome in some P5 competition to Apogee.. Hope this is the first of many!

Fair. But 5 years of below .500 ball & a 16 game road losing streak is more than enough. How much lower do you have to go?? From the outside looking in, if I was to look at our basketball program, I would come to the conclusion that the university doesn't care. I personally don't believe that, but others do. I understand WB's hands may be tied a tad, I get that, but seriously, do we have to drop a couple more conference games by 25+?? Just make the move to show you give a damn. Actions speak louder than words.

Let me start by saying, I think Tony Benford is a good guy, he has always been professional & respectful. At least to me personally. But if you can't fire the guy tonight, you're pretty much saying we don't care about our program.

Since he was released by ND does he have to sit out a year?
Was at Trinity Valley following ND.. Should be a 3 year guy that hopefully is in for spring ball.. McNeal next & the questions regarding our recruiting, or lack there of, can be silenced for a bit..

Really hope we score first, think it will be key in keeping the crowd and team "engaged". Fall behind double digits early like a weekend ago and you're in deep trouble. Punch them in the mouth first, and I like our chances.

Ivery was one of my favorite signees in his class. I think he has a special ability to make people miss in the open field. I would like to see the coaching staff give him more opportunities to demonstrate that (I think this offense and staff will).
Has to prove he can stay out of trouble first.. Agree though, Willie is dynamic and can help this football team in multiple ways..

Big soccer channel, but quality production nonetheless. Definitely better than ASN. No contest in my eyes.

Not near the potential talent on this roster that was on that 2012-13 roster. Not even close.
While the 2013 roster was/is better than this years upcoming group, it's closer than you believe it to be.. Cut the head of the snake and we should win 20+ games

Not even close to T-Mitch type scenario. He is very limited offensively, great player yes. But tap the brakes.
Wasn't comparing skill level, obviously Tony had the much higher ceiling.. Was just making note that T Mitch transferred in from Mizzou after being a highly touted DFW product much like Allen.. nonetheless would be thrilled if Allen was interested..

We weren't really playing it safe, just not winning any recruiting battles. Personally, I haven't found myself rooting for a recruit much more than I am Mason. Maybe it's his story and all the good stuff being said about him but something about him just screams underdog story that you'd love to see work out.
But nothing about this class so far can be differentiated from previous McCarney classes in which we didn't win recruiting battles either. It could be that Littrell ends up having a better eye for hidden gems but that's yet to be seen obviously.
Bro, the dude has been here for what, a month and a half?? Coming off a 1 & 11 season to boot too.. if you expected to bring in a boat load of 3 & 4 stars you're kidding yourself.. Building rapport with HS coaches looks to be in the works, & by the looks of the use of social media, this staff gets it.. It will take patience but I personally love what I've been seeing

Find it odd that some think this is a joking matter.. For all parties this is devastating news.. The kid is more than a football player, he has his whole life in front of him..

Bball aficionados - how good can AJ Lawson be?

Unless McCasland & co are going to play very small, I doubt you see much of AJ at the 4, but then again who isn't throwing 4 guard lineups out there nowadays. If this kid can establish a consistent jump shot, the ceiling is the roof. As a frosh, the most encouraging thing I saw was his relentless attack of the rim. Good nose for the ball, think you'll see a great improvement defensively, just based off structure & system. Getting Woolridge & AJ to stay was arguably Benford'd best recruiting win. Both kids have the chance to be very special.
