I was referring to the democrat party’s recent acceptance on it since Cuomo signed a bill making it legal in New York, along with other states proposing it as well.

So, infanticide really wasn't in the Green New Deal?

FFR, I did a quick e-search of the document & failed to find the word 'infanticide' what are you talking about?

Not just abortion, infanticide.
See...you didn’t get the memo.
Rick
Nonsense. I said I supported nearly all of the environmental positions of the Green New Deal. There are other parts I strongly disagree with.

True, it really doesn’t matter what soil your standing on, murdering a newborn child is murdering a newborn child and that is what you and your side supports. At least your consistent.

Where did you ever reach the conclusion that I advocate abortion?

Climate change is global Rick. What difference does it make which side of the border those children are living on?

ice earth has gone through, I believe, three other cycles of heating and cooling. Why is this never considered and discussed? Why are we so ready to throw the baby out with the bath water and not consider historical record?
What makes you think previous episodes of climatic change are never considered or discussed? Every geology text and earth history text discusses these in detail.
The difference between these earlier episodes and today's is that today the cause is anthropogenic. Which mean we could do something about it if we only had the will.

Ortasio-Cortes is, in my humble opinion, an idiot but don'r pretend she's a spokesman for climate science.
The solutions for climate science are complex & will be expensive. I suspect we'll choose to do nothing & that will be catastrophic.

No Rick, I didn't miss the memo. We need to have fewer children - not zero children.

"...now driving the Democratic bus."
Deep you know better than that - Nancy Pelosi drives the bus for the Democratic Party, and she will until 2020.
I agree with almost all the environment planks in the Green New deal. Climate change is real. Climate change is mostly driven by anthropogenic release of the greenhouse gas CO2. Climate change will have dramatic, mostly deleterious, effects on our species &on our world. 97% of trained experts in climate related fields agree with all 3 of these statements. If you disagree it's not because of the science - it's because of your ideology, your politics, your economic concerns, or your adverse attitude to science (it's disturbing how many climate change deniers also doubt evolution, & believe in a young earth).
We either do something about climate change or our children will suffer. Our western civilization will be at great risk. Knowing mankinds history of choosing short-term profit over long-term benefit I'm not very hopeful.

No need to move the thread...
Neal Smatresk, president of UNT, said serious talks about the donation started during a football game in September, and it's been a secret project ever since.Football played a role.

I wonder if all you hunters on here really believe that shooting an animal is that much better. Maybe if it is killed instantly, but there are no guarantees that will happen.
Most hunters abide by a 'hunting ethic', one aspect of which is to not cause unnecessary pain & suffering.

without knowing exactly what happened.Well, we do have some pretty graphic video posted by Mr. Mohammad showing us pretty clearly what happened.

I know you've had trouble understanding this, but I don't disagree that the behavior was cruel and sadistic. We're talking about magnitude here. At the end of the day, what they did to a pest animal shouldn't ruin a young man's playing career and education potentially with the loss of scholarship. Further, making a sweeping generalization about a young man from one incident is extremely disingenuous, especially considering how little actual information we have about the situation or Muhammad's role in it beyond filming it.
Let's give an example of another player that made a mistake. Turner Smiley is by all accounts a great young man, but if you remember, he got arrested for a DWI after the 2015 season. He made a mistake, a mistake that in my opinion is worse than posting a video of a raccoon getting mauled by dogs, but there were no cries to kick him off the team and take his scholarship, or if there were they did not reach the same national attention this BS is getting.
And while we're on the topic of sadistic behavior, I find it ironic that there is so much outrage for this considering the sport of football has elements sadism in it, and that element of sadism is directed at other people, not a worthless raccoon.
This is a question of does the punishment fit the crime. Should a young man's life be turned inside out just because of one mistake involving the death of a raccoon? Would you ruin a person's life just to get "justice" for a raccoon?
You keep making this to be about it involving a raccoon. It doesn't matter if it was a raccoon a badger, or someone's Chihuahua. It's still wrong to participate in in or be amused by cruel behavior. As said before, university & civil authorities will investigate the incident and Muhammad's role in it. It will be up to those authorities to decide the proper consequences.
Your attitude toward inhumane behavior bothers me nearly as much as what happened. I spent 12 years working as a biologist for TPWD & four more years working for a Federal agency. I worked with a lot of hunters & fishermen and they were, nearly to a man (and woman) appalled by unnecessary suffering. Animals die. That's part of nature & it's part of fishing and hunting but to take pleasure in causing pain & suffering is not something that should be tolerated - even on a sports message board.

I know you've had trouble understanding this, but the fact that it was a raccoon is irrelevant. What does matter is that this was cruel and sadistic behavior. Being disturbed by such behavior is not "dumb".

The irony in the bolded part that these individuals would be being a nuisance while defending a nuisance animal🤣
No matter what you think about wildlife, including raccoons, no animal deserves to be treated the way this animal was treated.

Just wondering ... for those who want him gone - Do you refuse to watch FOX NFL since they have Michael Vick???
Michael Vick suffered serious consequences for his cruelty to animals. Muhammad's behavior should have consequences as well. Whether he should be gone depends on what happened on that day and the role Muhammad played. I hope local law enforcement will determine what was done & by whom. They will determine whether criminal charges should be brought. UNT also has a role to play & we'll see how SL, WB, & the President handle that.

And I agree, he shouldn't have posted the video. But I don't think videoing it makes him an evil person either, especially since, as you said, it's just a raccoon. Now you're getting it.
No, I just get you.
Yeah, but he didn't sit there and rip the raccoon apart himself. In all likelihood, he didn't even sick the dogs on it. He just filmed it.
He was in attendance at an event featuring animal cruelty. He filmed it & posted the video. He posted it under his name which is associated with UNT athletics & the University of North Texas. This is wrong on so many levels.

You missed my point or intentionally disregarded it. Organizing implies it was all his idea. It implies that he called all the people there to view it. We have no evidence of that and the Star Telegram can go pound sand for insinuating as such since there is no evidence to that. He posted a video of something bad that he shouldn't have posted. We don't know much beyond that.
We know he found the video amusing enough to post it under his name - a name associated with UNT athletics & the University of North Texas. It's disturbing that you find it possible to defend the young man. Of course, it's just a raccoon.

I call BS on this post from the Star Telegram...they are trying to tar-and-feather the entire program for the actions of one person...so unfair!
That's the thing about team sports - it just takes one bad actor to taint the entire program. we'll see how Littrell, Baker, & Smatresk deal with the situation. They can go a long ways towards mitigating the damage this young man did to the program & university.

That's such BS that they even included organizing in the title of the article. We don't have the details of who "organized" it.
It appears that Muhammad posted the video & participated in the torture. He apparently found it amusing.

Why do you think sadistic behavior is okay if it's directed towards a raccoon? Would it still be okay with you if it was a dog being torn to bits? Or a child?

I love the way we keep talking about Mason in terms like "lightly regarded" and pretending that Harrell took this raw clay and made a masterpiece. The kid was the two-time Oklahoma player of the year and between his junior and senior high school seasons passed for 9,233 yards and had a touchdown to interception ratio of 124:13.
Other than height, this kid was not some scrub unworthy of a chance.
Vito's comment wasn't "lightly regarded", rather it was "lightly recruited".

Do people lie? Yes?
It is therefore illogical to believe every person who claims to be a survivor of sexual assault. HOWEVER, those that can corroborate their story should 100% be believed, and rapists/assailants should be castrated.
Totally agree. However, corroboration of what is usually a private event is usually difficult. Do we still assume innocence until guilt is proven?

So, if I understand correctly, you were so anxious to pin the label 'infanticide' on a nasty progressive, that you were willing to take the term completely out of context.
The article was about an idea - the Green New Deal - that can & is supported by a wide spectrum of intelligent people of different political affiliations and ideologies. You should real the draft and make an intelligent decision on what you agree with & what you don't. To simply say you reject the entire idea makes you an ideologue, and I think you're better than that
