  1. Not sure if the team has given up on Meager or not. But after last weeks performance by phillips, he has earned the right to start for the rest of the season. Just think if we had come back and won that game...Meager would not ever see the field again. In my opinion, I think Phillips should start, otherwise, if Meager gets hurt for an extended period next year we are in the same situation.

Let see what Phillips can do for an entire game...I also would like to mention that if anyone on this site thinks that Phillips is gonig to come in a light the world on fire youre dead wrong...remember he's 9 months out of high school, he will make mistakes-its how he recovers from those mistakes.

As far as the Vito story...if Joey Byerly comes back and is given a chance to compete at QB I will just DIE!!! This guy is not equipped to be a QB...he may have the body for it, but not the mind. Congrats Joey, youre a fullback now, or a DE...some other position, just not QB. NT can't afford to have a someone lead the team who has classroom issues.

  2. TE's dont look that bad...C Brown and Gilmore...Gilmore wants to be a TE and I was under the impression he backed away from UTEP because they wanted to make him a DE. As far as DB's go I think we redshirted the ex-QB from the Austin area...who can flat out fly, we also redshirted several OL this year. The kid center from Paris could move into the center position and push rose to guard. I know he is a bit undersized, but so was "you know who"...we need someone who is effective not just big.

looking forward to next year...but not as much as I'm looking forward to the rest of this year. IF this teams urns themselves around and put together 4 wins to end Sun Belt play, even if we dont win the belt, it will have shown some character.

    Good luck boys at LSU.

    NT-27

    lsu-24

we shock the world...i love the greenweed!!!!

  3. i'll give you the 40 point argument...but when the season is boiled down, and you look at wins and losses, all most people will remember is your record, not how many points you lost by.

have you ever played football??? if so what do you remember the fact that you lost to your across town rival 31-30...of the team from South Texas in the playoffs 31-3. All people remember is that they won or lost.

And as for the particle of success, of the teams i listed above we were the only one that has won 4 consecutive conference championships...NOW!!! the argument is that we play in the weakest conference in CF, and we do, but it is the only conference we are in...that makes it the only one we can win....4 TIMES IN A ROW. I would trade places with any of those teams...but we cant. we are who we are, a mid level program who in spite of recent (VERY RECENT) success, is simply imploding around ourselves. And to be very honest with you, at present time we will not be any where close to any of the afore mentioned teams (MEMPHIS EXCLUDED--MAYBE), until we star acting like one, and that means winning yes, and that means playing somewhere that gives everyone a sense of PRIDE, and to be very frank playing in front of large groups of FANS...one a consistent basis.

Just a quick breakdown of some of the team i mentioned earlier...

OK ST 15 Montana St 10---a win, bet there real proud in stillwater

OK ST 0 Colorado 34---not 40 pts youre right

OK ST 23 A&M 62--again not 40 points, got me on that one too

OK ST 10 ISU 37--Cowboy Pride shines through...fire the coach fire the coach

LOUISVILLE 14 S FL 45--Nice showing for the BIG EAST, must have reloaded after the game

MEMPHIS 17 C FL 38--will the Tigers go down as the team that snapped the Nations longest conference winning streak. looks like some reloaded????

  4. Hey, I've heard the same radio talk show hosts all week proclaiming how Tech got to be #7 in the BCS, they have a weak schedule, they've only played a couple of road games, etc etc.

I know our next few years (2 or 3) are already booked, but why dont we schedule some of the lesser-knowns. We could schedule Nichols St. McNeese St. and Sam Hou/or SWTS...we could schedule some of these teams that D-AA, invite some of our recruits to these games and just beat the dog out of them? I understand that attendance-wise this may not be advantagous, but if we were to beat 2-3 of the smaller schools by 30-40 points and use those games to work out or work in certain players, then hit the SBC running, we could end up with a stellar record. I know we will have to schedule a money game, just to get paid and killed, but we could also schedule some of these other programs..not home and homes...out place only!!! Atleast we could have some chatter about our team, build momentum, and if nothing else some confidence.

    Just a thought.

  5. "MEAGER IS BAD AND WILL NOT GET BETTER, our offense is suffering from him, as well as patrick cobbbs and jamario thomas."

That damn Meager he also caused JT to fumble at FIU, and its his fault our O-Line is getting blown off the line, its his fault that he has several dropped passes a game, its his fault a 3rd hurricane is about to hit the US, its his fault its over 90 degrees in October, gas prices--MEAGER, TXU's price hike---MEAGER, my brakes went out last week---dangit Daniel...and on and on it goes...

"He will never get better"...O crystal ball if you can see the future, I could use at the Sports Book this weekend.

  6. I agree with Dawg, I agree with Stebo, I agree with 1855...nice post by the way.

I believe we are lucky as hell to be where we are...we had back to back ruching champs (1st time ever), we have won 4 conference championships, and we are drawing over 19,000 fans to our only 2 games this year. Do I expect that number to drop, of course, we are playing 2 days after turkey day, light attendance game---BEWARE- as for Stebos comment about our coach "not preparing for the future", not sure what you are talking about, I would like for you to please expand on that...

As for a boring offense, hell I like grinding the opponent down...let me qualify that this is a reference to the past 4 years, excluding this year...everyone wants something more exciting, throw the ball, throw the ball...why the hell would we throw the ball with a RS Frosh QB, and a suspect O Line.

I made this comment in a post earlier in the week...we have not been in the past a FOOTBALL SCHOOL...aside from a few good years in the 80's, and one good year in the 90's we have not been a program of ANY magnitude. We are building "OUR" program...and it is interesting and exciting to watch it grow and change, and develop into somthing that people (students and the community) are actually interested in...the fact that we are showing increases in attendance, and the frickin parking lot is full on Saturdays makes me proud (I'm tearing up).

To be redundant: Enjoy the journey our programs on...cheer, scream, complain, gripe, be disappointed, be overjoyed, BE AT THE GAMES!!!

All the "FOOTBALL SCHOOLS" have built their foundation...

WE ARE IN THE PROCESS OF BUILDING OURS!!!

  7. Its very clear what we want now...we want a softer gentler Coach that embraces the fans, touts their glory and thanks them for coming to each came while this Coach quitely sits around and gets his ASS handed to him by alums and the media on why he cant compete with the likes of larger atheletic programs, who over the past 25-50 years actually invested time and money into a Football Program while our beloved school couldn't makes it mind up which frickin conference we want to play in much less which division we want to play in...and since we have tasted success over the past 4-5 years we want eveything yesterday, we want to take a quantom (sp?) leap forward and be able to show our players and recruits and coaches that we want you to be successfull just on a shoe string budget...

It takes time to build things, we all want everything right now....sometime its the struggles that get us to where we want to be that are teh most rewarding!!!

I love the fact that there are people on this site with different opinions, do not take the personal...we all have one thing in common--MEAN GREEN FOOTBALL!!!

  8. QUOTE OF THE DAY!!! POST OF A LIFETIME...

Greatness...all you pissers and moaners, well the Coach pissed and moaned too. kinda of sucks when he calls people out.

I agree with illuvius, what ifs...what if they happen, hell what if they dont. I am as frustrated as the next guy, but I refuse to trash the people who built the foundation of our success. we're 2-3, this win had to have built some confidence, I expect us to compete next week, we may lose, we may win, all our team can do is line up and play, and all I know is we have a huge oppt to take our 5th title in 5 years, and go back to the NO Bowl.

    GO MEAN GREEN!

  9. Congrats Phillip...you deserve it. I to like our options at LB..dont forget about Brandon Monroe.

I actually think that Mendoza is underappreciated on this team. He is a hardnosed football player...cut out of the mold of a dat ngyuen or zack thomas, he is always around the ball...always at the bottem of the pile.

  10. So far I think my 3 top choices would be Todd Dodge, Rick Neuheisel, or Deloach, in no order. I know that if we were, by some miracle of God, able to search for a new coach, it would cost more money. However, I will gladly open up my checkbook and give what I could.

Nice choices Rudy...but the bottem line is it just isn't going to happen. Deloach and Neuheisel, make to much money and both are thought of as premier coaches...Deloach is being fast tracked, NT could not afford him. As for Dodge, his contract is worth more than 220K...not in salary, but he gets all kinda of kickbacks from that town. I've heard a house rent free, cars, and other under the table compensation based on the number of wins and playoff games...not to mention championships. As for Applewhite, he's coaching at Syracuse I thought...and very unproven. I like your thoughts though about Nei. and Del.

We need a defense oriented football program....
