  1. We played them during our CUSA years and in the 2007 Texas Bowl. We were all set to sign a home and home for 2009 (in Houston) and 2010 (in Ft Worth). However, Oklahoma St refused to move around their game with Houston. We were almost stuck paying for a second FCS game. Clemson came in at the last minute with a $1 million guarantee for a one and done which we went in and won. Meanwhile, Houston crushed Oklahoma St in Stillwater. So we haven't actually play Houston in OOC but we were set to sign a deal to play them in OOC before Oklahoma St got in the way. In retrospect, it worked better as we traded 2 games with Houston for a game with Clemson and a game with Oregon St. But, we continue to talk to Houston about future games.
  2. Giant shop fans in lieu of air conditioning in early September in Texas were deemed unacceptable by our administration. New stadiums 35 min up the road with state of the art facilities are a different story.
  3. Not entirely accurate. TCU has developed an OOC policy since the 2001 TCU at UNT game of scheduling only home and homes with BCS schools, SMU, Houston, Army, and Navy. We are willing to go play the occasional one and done for a large paycheck (see Clemson 09) but we only have offered FBS level money for one and dones at our place. This all was spurred by the fact that the A/C was not working in the visitor's locker room at that TCU/UNT game in 2001. Now that y'all have new facilities, we are more likely to give a home and home due to the proximity.
  4. I've heard rumor that y'all are opening up the new stadium against Houston on Sept 3 or 10. Is this correct? I ask because TCU is scrambling to fill spots thanks to BYU leaving the conference and Tech probably backing out on a game with us this year. Right now we only have SMU & Baylor solidified on the OOC schedule next year and will need 3 more games. I'd love to see TCU in Denton to open the new stadium on Sept 10.
  5. bYu probably decided it wasn't in their best interest, cost wise, to travel to the metroplex twice in 2006. They are coming to Amon Carter next season. I'm wondering. I know y'all are looking for another home game for 2006. But, would there be any interest in a home & home with TCU? Play at Amon Carter on 10/14, 10/28, or 11/25 in 2006 and at Fouts in 2007. The going rumor used to be that we would have Grambling as the 12th game but that has fallen through. Now it looks like our options are West Virginia, North Texas, Houston, a few WAC & MAC teams. West Virginia won't happen & Houston is on record as saying they'll never schedule us again (blah, blah, blah). I think UNT would be best for both of us. But, the question is would y'all play at Amon Carter next year? P.S. - We would have no problem returning to Fouts in 2007 as we already have 7 home games for 2007. There should be no serious worry that we'd back out of a return.
  6. Fox announces games usually 1 week prior. I suspect that FSN will carry the KSU game because the only other Big 12 games that week are TAMU vs. Texas St. and Tech vs. Indiana St.; Colorado plays at Miami but that game is on the ACC's contract.
  7. I really hope that y'all move the Monroe game to the end of the year (Fri. Dec. 2) and play LSU on October 29. $500K is a lot of money to lose when there are options out there. Another plus would be the possibilty of ESPN broadcasting the Monroe game if it was moved to Dec. 2. I understand that homecoming festivities are often hard to move around. But, this could make for a lot of pluses for UNT if it works out.
  8. No, it serves them right for not trying to cut a deal to have UNT there and send Troy to NO. I interviewed for an internship with the clowns who run the FW Bowl last year. We started talking and I told them that they should heavily consider trying to get UNT into the game. (this was before the season started and I still thought that TCU was going to run wild on Tech and CUSA and head to the BCS). They were adamant that they would wait on the Big 12. I guaranteed that the Big 12 wouldn't be able to fill an 8th slot again. They laughed. I'm laughing now for turning down that internship...I would have been in hell had I had to work that game.
