Dude, it wasn't an attack... I am just going off what I have experienced. You are a fan of posting people's personal information on the internet huh?
You seriously take this stuff too seriously.
I honestly don't give a rat's ass what they said to you, based on your image you don't care about, I would blow a TON of rosy smelling sunshine smoke up your ass to get you to go away.

But at the same time know that I addressed this and several other issues with Rick Villareal, Cooper Jones and John Burkett last Saturday night and I let them know that, even though I feel they have done a remarkable job in some areas, they dropped the ball in others. They respected the fact that I addressed this with them in person....
I'm not going to blow rosy smelling sunshine up everyone's rear and kiss it like some choose to do here everyday and pretend everything is fan-freaking-tastic, when it isn't .
One has to wonder if the AD blew rosy smelling sunshine up your butt in this situation... Not an attack, just an honest thought. I have had numerous employees/clients come to me with concerns and I admit that some/most of them are alittle over the top requests or they expect something because of "who they are" and I blow rosy smelling smoke up their butts to get them to go away.

There are things more important at UNT than a women's basketball game... or a men's basketball game... or any ATHLETIC event.
This logic being thrown out suggests that ANY event on campus that coincides with ANY sporting event should be canceled and rescheduled. What about the students performing in plays and such at the Performing Arts building? Are you going to skip your subpar football team's game for that? What about the music students who work longer and harder on their work that ANY athlete at UNT? Would you miss the basketball game for their performance? I highly doubt it.
The Athletic Department scheduling something is foolish, but the Alumni scheduling something, depending on what it is, is not wrong. Athletics is NOT number 1 at ANY university, if it is, then the University had got it ALL wrong.

DRIPPING with revenge.
You really have no idea the lengths some of these wonderful UNT Superfans will go for revenge.

I don't post here much anymore mainly bc of the ridiculously elevated status some of you people on this site give people like FFR and others that spew venom on people yet still get the good game pat on the ass for being super fans, but I completely agree with CBL here. Living in Fort Worth all my life (except my few years in Denton), that town wasn't supporting TCU at all until they started to get REALLY good, not just normal good.
In the same regards, I can see where KRAM is coming from... Denton has never really shown the support to NT of a normal college town.
All in All... both parties are correct in my opinion. Other responses here are very ridiculous and 'dripping with revenge' (i liked that wording)

Just doped up I think.
The reports of your death have been greatly exaggerated... you were merely taking a nap in that ditch after a stellar bump of cocaine.

Okay. I'm a Junior at UNT, transferred after my freshman year and I've lurked these boards for almost two years now and I have never had the urge to contribute to any conversation or felt I had anything meaningful to say. With that being said, I've made this account to specifically address this attendance issue that grown men are pissing themselves over.
Here are the reasons students did not show up to this game specifically, but all of them for that matter:
1. It is not UNT culture to be highly involved in football (or any other sport). It is not advertised around school. The administration, in my opinion, makes no effort to get the regular student involved with sports. Occasionally they will put up small plastic signs at 4 locations on campus on game week. Great. What an advertising lure! ... Not. UNT needs to make football BIG. There is nothing around campus that shouts, "WE LOVE SPORTS! GO MEAN GREEN!" Zero advertisement.
2. History of losing. Most students see UNT sports as a joke- They don't care. I've had one professor in my 1 and 1/2 years talk about the football team in class. No students cared. Why? Because of losing IN ADDITION with the lack of culture. It's not something for the average student to get excited about because they've been let down for years and don't expect anything. When you don't expect anything, why bother? They don't want to show up to a game to just be let down. Students feel it is embarrassing and are ashamed when the football program has done so bad in recent years. They don't expect anything to change. Even with a new stadium.
When I came here Todd Dodge was at my student orientation, he gave us the sales pitch that UNT will do great this year in football and it's time to turn the program around and it sounds similar to what McCarney has said. Do you think the average student who is only familiar with losing and the lack of football culture and lack of sports knowledge is going to see ANY difference between the same hopeful speech by two different people? No.
Only with this much improved season will students realize "Hey, maybe this is worth checking out now." It takes a season of doing significantly better to gain any recognition and that's what happened this season. Not next season, but the next will UNT be what you ranting immature adults WANT the student fan section to look like.
3. The HISTORY of UNT football or Lance making any accomplishments is NOT known to the average student. NCAA breaking records, what do you expect them to know about it? Again, I put this on the administration and/or the Athletics Department for NOT making it known. One email. Great. 1. Not everyone checks their email. 2.Emails are easily overlooked, we get so much crap emails from the administration already can you expect us to read through every one? No. Most people see the block of text we received and blow past it. NOT to mention it wasn't even from the Athletics Department or have FOOTBALL anywhere in the title. It was sent by freaking MARKETING in the name. We see marketing, we think it's spam. Maybe try titling the letter: "NCAA RECORDS TO BE BROKEN" with football as the email name. Not marketing@randomname.com Try: MEANGREENFOOTBALL@UNT.COM Maybe that might catch more attention.
4. WITH all of the mentioned aspects above, it was raining and cold. And most of you raving alumni are foul mouthing the students as you sit in freaking COVERED club level seats seem to not think the weather is an issue. We found out at the FAU game we are NOT allowed umbrellas. This is a huge issue. As students, we are not going to sit through bad weather and be rained on terribly and be cold when there is no spirit for football and it really doesn't matter if we win or lose anyways because there is no tradition or culture to care. If I could sit there with an umbrella. I would have gone. But nope, because I knew I would have sat there, gotten wet and cold and gotten sick the week before FINALS (education and health come first). This part, I blame on the staff at the stadium. (which this is not the only issue with a stadium staff, I originally wrote a lot more, but decided to drop it.) This game was the first game I missed and I had to listen to it on the radio. I live in the dorms, I was disappointed and mad that I had to miss it. Yes. Had to. As I'm sure every other student who WOULD have gone if it wasn't raining felt. If you were there during the FAU game, which we won, you would have seen the student section was big, then dwindled down as the weather got worse. Weather is a huge factor. We don't live up north, we do not have full weatherproof clothing. The most winter suitable clothes we have is jeans. Jeans get wet. With no overhead protection we are going to get soaked and be uncomfortable and cold and get sick. End of story.
Yes. Panchos were available to be purchased, but this isn't known to students. We weren't told- how should we know? I sure didn't until I saw a picture on Scrappy's Facebook page. And they cost money. We're college students. Do you think we're going to pay for anything? No, lol.
Now I'll be the final word on the matter of attendance and the voice of the students:
"Shut up. Make us more involved and we will care more. We want to care more. We want to be involved with our university. We want that classic university experience and we want it to be first class so don't blame us for being apathetic and disillusioned. Do you think we want that?"
Scoreboard. Same as it was 6 years ago.

Before I read this thread I had been worried that one certain doped up drop out wasn't the one found dead in the tent this week on campus?
And now it's confirmed.

I see what you did here... you insinuated that JayDub was a pot head and dead in a gutter, but then you found out he wasn't because he posted in this thread. Clever Clever FireHatMan. I got a 3 day ban for calling someone Chubby one time, but then again I didn't build half of Denton like you did, all great and mighty FHM.

I would like to extend to you an invitation to the pants party.
Are you inviting me to a party in your pants?
10.00 cash lot is at fouts, the bridge will be blocked off for pedestrian traffic. The rest of the parking on campus is free. Parking around appogee is reserved.
Thank you sir. I appreciate it!

I didn't have time to really dive past the first page of the board... The Wife will experience her first UNT game on Saturday! If we just bought reserved seats off of ticketmaster, anyone know where the parking will be? I have heard most of the lots close to the stadium are for the season ticket holders and such... just trying to gage what time to show up and what to bring for our tailgate!

IF CBL is coming down to play... I am in.

Whippersnapper
Matt Sorry I disguised my sarcasm in that post... haha. I was referring to the old school dumbass arguments on this site, not a stab at the current Pit Crew. The biggest difference is the size and funding of this newer Pit Crew. I think the old schoolers just get alittle bitter that when we asked the AD stiffed armed up for funding...

Some of us do....I remember ya'll with the Tiki back when I was high school or middle school. Can't really recall how many years ago it was.
Matt your response gave me a chubby one. It feels good to be remembered... at least someone around here knows who did what....
-
These new Pit Crew kids don't even know what Tiki is... they couldn't handle Tiki.

I am on your side with this one... but seriously when have ever expected to win an OOC game? This team has ONE memorable win in how long OOC? And it was Baylor. They suck.

Damn good to see you, the ticket office will be open if all else fails. If we have any extra I will let you know at tailgating just come find us.
Yeah Buddy, I got the best damn tshirt washed and ready to go!

FINALLY at a point where I can take off on Saturdays and come back to good old UNT for some college football! My question is... I didn't buy season tickets because I wasn't sure the high school football schedule and what games I would have to cover... so what type of seats can I get at the box office? I don't want some crap endzone seats...
Anyone know what is available in the ticket office, or wanna donate/sell some tix to a guy who can finally come home and bring 3 first timers to denton?
