  1. The current OL coach cannot carry Brad Davis's water bottle (Brad Davis is worth two more wins on the season).  The OL lived off what Coach Davis had taught them last year with very little, if any assistance from new guy.  From Beaumont to Denton he was outcoached thoroughly at this level.   What was exposed yesterday was the same damn thing the DE from SMU did to us the first game of the year, I was just amazed more opposing "D" did not pick up on it.  When you have one OLineman have bad game or bad group of games, then we can point to the kid or kids, and lets remember these are kids, but when you have a group of three or four or the whole damn group having bad games back to back to back then its coaching and no changes were ever made because the current staff can point to the 9-3 season and go "look at the improvement".   Put the blame where it belongs NO WAY Littrell keeps this guy.

  2. I've seen both scrimmages and spring ball but my take is a little different than most that are bashing the Oline, yes it maybe weak but you may be surprised as well, could go either way, here's why:

scrimmages, I have not seen morris running for his life every snap or even most snaps with the one OL.

most of our time has been spent on timing routes between the QB and WR and our defense knew this.  therefore, they had the 3rd down approach every play, with little or no regard to running the football.   Yes, QB had some hurries but not running for his life every play and if you were to mix in some draws, screens and flat out running the ball options, I think the OL we have now may fool you (or make some of you look like you should be picking six right numbers twice a week), only time will tell.  Most of Wyche long runs came behind the second team OLine with this unit our running game did well, they don't need as much reps with Wilson and willie running the ball, everyone knows they are the only bright spots from last year.

Littrell and Position coaches have a completely different approach with the players and they seem to be playing more for each other than for themselves which is the beginnings of a team and this could be the foundation of a turning point for mean grean.  Case in point the way HC handled the third team deep snapper that everyone was on, very calmly talked encouraged and the rest of his snaps were better, not great but better.

Contrary to the nay sayers, I think we gonna surprise some people, starting with SMU, my god they only won 2 games.

  3. Caralla's can't force the kids to come to work out nor can he force them to workout to their max.  If the position coaches don't enforce rules when they skip it will not matter who is the S&C.  Carall's pedigree is excellent as well as his energy, needs to be at least given a chance.

  4. S&C is young, enthusiastic and a hard worker, gives his all............ wait or we talking position coach or head coach, I'm confused after reading this board.   isn't this the type of guy we want?

Being a little sarcastic here, but not liking a guy cause Chico said something, c'mon give me a break.  S&C should at minimum get an interview.

  5. Questioning our strength and conditioning staff always seems to be off limits around here, but I sure didn't see much strength or conditioning on this team.

no matter who the strength and conditioning coach is, if the staff will not hold kids accountable for missing workouts, they aren't going to get any bigger, stronger or faster.  I happen to think the strength and conditioning coach was one of our better coaches, doing the best he could with little support.   I hope he is one that gets the opportunity to stay.

  6. when you run an empty backfield the two guards and center dadgum should not let a LB walk up and run by untouched, it seems to happen everytime.  They have to let the outside DE loose so that QB can step up and make a play down the field but Smith always seems to be running for his life.
