Definitely a lot of buzz at my office on this game from the UNT alum we have - the Mean Joe commercial created tons of excitement on top of everything else we have going for us at the moment. Should be packed if not sell out.

The SMU date being the same as CAL has me very concerned SMU may be trying to get out of that one. Even more so because get this: 2019 would be a 7-home game slate with a power 5 coming in! I think this is one of those the other shoe is about to drop kind of deals. Why SMU would do that I wouldn't get however, given that it is one of the better spectator games for them and hthey wone the last few games.
That said if this all holds without getting rid of anything, then this is quite awesome. Not high on UNT having to travel to Laramie, but I guess its still a net gain considering the P5 home and home UNT just scored.
If all holds quite awesome indeed! And, all this for Mason's senior year, correct? I'd like that recipe.

This is what Ticketmaster shows as of Friday afternoon - doesn't look like a lot of blue left... :)

Looks like they are okay with calling it the Safeway Bowl and a rivalry. Hopefully their forum sees this, ha!

We won't ever get to find out--we might play Texas A&M--Commerce on that weekend or New Mexico State, but we won't ever host a team that a general fan, whether they are connected to UNT as a student, alum, etc...or not, except for SMU or Army.
Its like when we played Ball State. It was hot that day, but the majority of non-diehard UNT fans in the Metroplex were watching Johnny Football and A&M play Alabama that afternoon. Until we give those people a reason to watch us play instead of staying at home to watch these P5 giants play, this will continue to be an issue.
If I were the AD, I'd work for a schedule that never included an FCS team, meaning a 5 game season some years, but also meaning that we will have a marquee OOC game in Denton on the years we play only 5 home games. Then, I'd work it to where we try to avoid doing two things--playing a day game on Texas-OU weekend in Denton and playing a home conference game on the weekend after Thanksgiving. Granted, the last one is hard because of the CUSA schedule, but I'd try to make sure we didn't have that weekend game in Denton. The former, though, seems easy to me. You either schedule a bye that weekend or if you have a home game, you play at night, starting at 7:00, meaning that any students or fans that want to watch Texas/OU play in Dallas will never have an excuse not to get to watch UNT play--the latest that game ever kicks off is at 2:30, meaning the game ends around 6:00 or so. That leaves you plenty of time to get over to Apogee to watch us play, if kickoff is 7:00, if you were watching the game on TV at home or at an establishment.
But, instead, we schedule homecoming against an FCS team from the Pacific Northwest, that absolutely no one cares about in Texas, and we will probably kickoff in the afternoon. If we get actual butts-in-seats of over 15k, that would be a big surprise to me--and that if we kicked off in the evening so as to avoid the Texas-OU conundrum.
Agreed agreed agreed, if we play a FCS team, it should always be a Texas school regardless of occasion. We don't need to search across the country.
Obviously I have no idea, but a few questions come to mind: Wouldn't an FCS opponent be less expensive for us to play in if the opposing school is at least in the same time zone? Did we even attempt to find one of the eight FCS programs to play in Texas? Do we not care/think about selling more concessions to (larger) traveling opposing fan bases? Office bragging rights anyone?
On a lighter note, I guess I'm allowed to walk pretty tall on the streets of Thibodaux, Louisiana after the Nicholls game last year. -
What a terrible pic of the team to put out on social media. Horrible angle that hides many faces, ugly panel doors visible down low. Terrible.
Have some freaking pride, put out the photog's version, not someone's phone shot from field level. Surely we can do better?
Rick
Completely Agree! 100%
I really have no issue with a cell phone shot, especially on twitter. However, they should have presented it as, "a preview" of the 2015 official team picture.Surely they will crop the bottom of the picture. The real issue, who is good enough with Photoshop to make ole #5 look a little more...imposing?
Anyway, GMG!

My most likely guess, and this is with no knowledge of Antoine, so please pardon me if I'm mistakenly pointing a finger, is that he was drunk in public, necessitating the cop bring him in to the holding tank for a bit, but not wanting to cite him with the more serious PI, they gave him a ticket for jaywalking.
Hope so- really, really hope this is the case.

Anybody else notice that the practice helmets are now green as of today?
Green with a BLACK facemask though? Pretty sure the "new" green helmets pictured recently have a white facemask. Hmmm...

Would love to see the white helmet with HOD chrome SOW

I think we need a white game helmet.
Could this be it?
Were the green helmets worn in practice not the same ones used during games? I thought they apply the decal the week before the first game? Or are they completely separate helmets all season?

I take back back my comments, actually like these so long as our greens all match up!

I hope a helmet and some pant stripes can complete a pass.
A helmet and some pant stripes will never complete a pass.
But, why not give our coaches every tool possible for recruiting the players who complete passes?

Constant pessimism is not a good thing for our program and certainly does not help improve our perception. It's a minority for sure but, still too many "fans" of our Mean Green who do a great job creating doubt/uncertainty under the pretense of "being realistic" and it's a disease that goes beyond this forum.

Still don't miss it

Love the all black, love the all white, wouldn't mind a combo of green and black or black and white or green and white, but all green especially at home is about as easy on the eyes as watching Boise st. wear all blue at home- it's just too much
