  1. It's pretty crappy. I grew up in San Antonio and I used to go to UTSA's basketball camp (not proud of it, but it's all I could do!), and they haven't made any improvements since those days! The scoreboard is in bad shape, no video board. There's no designated "visitor section", but you can just sit behind UNT's bench. I'm not familiar with how to buy road game tickets, but I seriously doubt the game will sell out so you can probably just buy them at the gym.

Anyone ever been to a hoops game at the Birdcage in San Antonio? I'm taking a group of Mean Green fans and I have never been there (or to any road UNT basketball game) before. Do we have a visitor section? Do we buy tickets through UNT or through UTSA?

  2. Hopefully there will be another good (maybe better) crowd tonight like Thursday. You would think it would be considering it's the first weekend after classes started, and a big win the other night can motivate more people to show up! As a member of the pep band (who goes to every single home game), I can vouch that it definitely helps the team play better when they actually have fans to cheer them on! The pep band can only do so much to help!

It would also be nice if we could have a good first half, and then somehow hold on to that lead....but that's a different story!

  3. That is some great scheduling right there.

I know you have researched this, so I'll take this as a very educated guess. A 3 game road swing (who does that in college football?), and then two 2 game road swings.

    Recipe for disaster.

Yeah it's hard to work with this schedule. At least there's a bye week in between those three road games. I tried my best to avoid long streaks of road games for everyone. But with 5 home games compared to 7 road games, that's not easy.

  4. Here's my prediction for the schedule (I did the entire conference but I won't waste your time with that and just give you UNT)

JUST MY PREDICTIONS, we'll see if they actually come true :)

9/5 vs. Rice (It was the only solution I could find for that opening weekend, no one should start the season with a bye)

    9/12 at SMU

    9/19 OPEN

    9/26 at Iowa

    10/3 at Marshall

    10/10 vs. Portland State

    10/17 vs. UTEP

    10/24 at Middle Tennessee

10/31 at Louisiana Tech (although I wish we could host another Halloween game, just couldn't work it out)

    11/7 vs. Old Dominion

    11/14 at Tennessee

    11/21 at Southern Miss

11/28 vs. UTSA (since they INSIST on making this a rivalry, I had no choice)

  5. UNT and Rice are the only C-USA teams that currently have nothing scheduled for that opening weekend. And Rice still needs to schedule one more nonconference game. So either UNT will be off or hosting Rice, depending on whatever Rice decides to do with that opening weekend. Personally, I like the idea of hosting Rice on Halloween again (10/31 is a Saturday), and opening the season against one of our biggest rivals would be a mistake. I'll take the opening bye week over Rice!

  6. I don't understand why people aren't bringing up Rice as a potential rival! Last year was a great set up, with the Halloween night game, and UNT being Rice's only conference loss on the way to the conference championship. I think that sets up to be great rivalry! I also have a little bias because I am a current UNT student with a father and sister that attended Rice, but still I think that could be a very exciting rivalry based on how the first matchup went.
