We are so insolvent that a group of donors led by Ernie Kuehne started and completed a basketball practice facility dedicated only to basketball. A new digital scoreboard was installed in front of the scorers table, and a new sound system and a center hung scoreboard has been ordered for the pit. When you add all of those things up, it does not come close to the 3 million that was donated. What do you think the balance is going to be used for? Lets see, donated to "basketball enhancehment fund". The problem is, no one except 15 people who scream on this board want to see Benford fired. So strap it up and get ready for next season, With Tony Benford as your head coach. I will be there sitting at every home game I can attend. I thought I was part of the solution, by doing everything in my power to give coaches and players tools to succeed. By attending every game I can home or road. But because I support Coach Benford, then I guess I am part of the problem. While you are dogging the best athletic director we have every had, why don't you start with Ernie and put on this board that he is the stupidest donor we have every had, because he supports Coach Benford and thinks he did a good job with what he had to work with this year. Call him out and say how stupid he was to write his SECOND million dollar check to support your university.
This is a team sport. In the university setting the team is Coaches, players, fans, donors, university support system. We are finally getting people around here that are supporting financially the way it needs to be supported. They are not on your side right now, and that is why Benford will be here.
You'll get nowhere. Easier and more fun (to some) to bitch, rant , & rave. Positive support not part of the vocabulary.
Nobody sees the season as more of a fail than the coaches and players. They know they've got to get busy to figure out how to prevent it next year. Evidently some of the folks on here believe it will get better by perpetually bitching about it. We'll see....

We just beat the 1st place team in the west after almost beating them at their place. Great win. If we were to play this well against Middle we'd give them fits.

Thank you for posting this Harry. this is another reason why this was a stupid hire, I mean come on, not the mvp of the southwest conference tournament, who oh by the way, brings in a pioneering friend who participated in a final four as a player, broke the color barrier at old miss, and was named NATIONAL COACH OF THE YEAR IN 1997, and after five days not one hater posts one reply to this article. In two years if this thing is announced a failure, I will admit it to the world. But I have one question for the haters, if we are where we want to be in two years, are you going to publicly say you were wrong about this? Or or you going to go on hating?
Don't you get it? It has nothing to do with a good or bad hire. It has to do with bitching. It took me awhile, but I get it now. If the team loses, bitch. If the team wins, bitch that they didn't win by enough. If somebody thinks there were 3600 at a game rather than announced 3610, bitch. On and on and on. Easier to bitch than be a part of the solution.... Regardless of what happens in two years the bitching will continue.

And the underachiever that was never quite good enough for us goes to 16-9. How many years until Benford has a career record at his new school that's seven games above .500? Andrew? Green_dude?
Why are you asking me? I've never taken a position on this board one way or the other about any coach. As you will probably not recall, I support communicating my pleasure or displeasure with decision makers.

You've apparently not read many fan boards. A third of the UNC fans were ready to run him out of Chapel Hill a month ago and he's won two NCAA titles there.
You REALLY need to check out any other college football forum. They bitch more when they don't have nearly the issues to bitch about as us.
And I doubt college message fan boards ever get mentioned in recruiting. They are way below issue #12,365.
Or, at UNTdude University, the recruiting pitch would be "come to UNTdude, son. You and the team can suck as much as you want, and the fans won't ever bitch, because they just don't care. Attendance? Don't worry about that son. Just remember that you don't have to try that hard."
You are right, I don't follow other college message boards. I'm a Mean Green fan. However, I'm well aware of the idiotic comments on those other boards. I had always hoped North Texas folks would take a higher road. Hopes dashed... Clearly there's a population of people everywhere who choose bitching as their sport. Good luck!
BTW, the men's team has won three of four. Seems like something cheer about.

Don't you know that valid criticism on an open forum about people who perform a very public job is not accepted at UNT!
You need to only talk to the AD if you have a problem, sir! We don't need anyone else noticing that we have a terrible record with the "most talented team in UNT history."
Just be really quiet and no one, not media or recruits, will notice the suck that this program is transforming into.
Just get on your phone and call people who don't care what you have to say. That's the way we handle things at UNT.

Reading for comprehension is evidently not a strong suit. As I've explained numerous times in the past, I've never taken a position on any coaching changes on this board. I've never said talent doesn't matter. I've never attempted to foolishly predict a number of wins in any year.
I've consistently said that bitching on this board causes more harm than good. The least amount of harm is that it has no impact on what you want. I've also said that if you want to be heard, speak to decision makers. I've also explained how you attain more access and a louder voice. Finally, I have very clearly stated there should be a high level of expectations and committment.

And weren't CJ and Holman around for the D2 debacle? Didn't they play in the game against a vastly depleted WKU?
How are you not dizzy from all of the spin you keep trying to put on things? This was a bad hire....it just was. The fact that we don't have an administration willing (or perhaps able) to rectify the problem won't change the fact that next year is FAR from assured of being better. And trying to deflect the legitimate concerns of...try to stay with me...THE PEOPLE YOU KEEP TRYING TO BROW BEAT INTO BUYING TICKETS AND GIVING EVEN MORE THAN THEY ALREADY DO...is insulting. We have the third highest attendance in the almighty Sun Belt? Wow. How many of these are season ticket holders who don't want to see already purchased tickets go to waste? How many of those season tickets were purchased because of the success of the old coaching staff....and because of the promises that the VERY SAME athletic department was all too willing to put out there.
"Most talented team in NT history" wasn't my creation, or UNT90's, or Tasty's, or CMJ's. Nope, it came from the same folks over on Bonnie Brae who you are all too eager to defend. If they created the "pre-season hype" that we aren't supposed to believe, and you obviously agree it was overblown...are you now saying we shouldn't trust them? Seems that way to me. And if you're saying we shouldn't trust them, then surely we can't be wrong to question their judgement in coach hires or to have little faith that bad hires will be rectified. Thanks KRAM...I couldn't have laid that part out any better myself.
If KRAM is insulting I'm not sure how to define many of the comments you and others make on this board. Oh... How has the bitching had a positive impact so far?

When a physucally superior basketball team doesn't play defense or rebound, you have a problem with leadership.
Anyone who has a scintilla of basketball knowledge understands this. You don't even have to play the game.
The fact that you don't tells me volumes about the credibility of your opinion on the matter.
But, everyone has the right to their opinion. So, let me ask you, if we only win 8 games next year (less talented team, more talented competition), will you then finally call for accountability?
Or will you continue to blame 18-20 year old kids?
Um, I've never blamed a single kid for this season. I've never once said accountability is or is not an issue. What I've consistently said is stop bitching on this message board. Has no effect. I've consistently said communicate both displeasure and pleasure with the decision makers who can effect change.

I may or may not have direct a player or two to this site. Let's just say that most people on this site lack basketball knowledge and have zero grasp on what is going on. Example... People saying Chris jones is transferring. Laughable
Kids have many options today. Anybody that believes kids and parents(when involved) don't scour the Internet and social media for info on schools recruiting them have less than zero grasp. Precisely why direct communication to the decision makers will ultimately have more impact on any decision made in any of our sports.

Nice. Read and comprehend the posts if you are able. Though I'm almost equal in stature, I'm not sure what being a MGC member or a football season ticket holder at any level has to do with being qualified to make uninformed statements.
So c'mon, I'm ready. I can take it. Looking forward to the abuse by all the "experts". Just remember, communicating directly and factually to decision makers is far more powerful than making uniformed ignorant statements on a message board.
Giving more, time or financially, buys you more access. More access allows more direct communication, which results in less frustration and bitching.

Mmmm.... Please stop falsely stating what I've said, constantly. It so happens I was in Hot Springs. I also never stated anyone was a bad fan. I've never claimed to be the team's number one supporter.
I have consistently stated your bitching does no good. I've consistently said if you want change be part of the solution. Communicate with decision makers.
