2013 is when the large majority of our team was Dodge recruits. Times have changed now Harry. Southern Miss is significantly better than they were 2 yrs ago. Dan Mccarney has won 5 road games in 4 years as HC. There are 3 games on our schedule in which we have a better chance than 0% to win, thats just being honest.

Does Ryan Rentfro even play?

The only reason McNulty is the starter is due to being longtime family friends with McCarney. It's as simple as that. He's not an FCS caliber starter.

The move to McNulty paid off but we scored 20 pts against a bad Southern Miss team at home......

Its a tryout, he did not sign.

So coaches come on here to read 95% speculation and second guessing of what they are doing?
Really?
Well, to our coaches: STOP READING THIS CRAP!!! Concentrate on coaching the team. If you had coached more and read GMG less last year, We would have a CUSA Championship banner waving from Ogee!!!!'!!!11!!11!1!
Jeez
Who said they were second guessing?

No problem with the original post, but damn there was some serious stupid going on in the rest of the thread.
And let's not blast players' families for getting involved. Some really valuable posters (DT90, Mitzi, etc) are family members. Plus those family members probably had some level of involvement in the player choosing NT in the first place. You should be extra courteous to them, not bitter and vicious.
In fact, why I am being so courteous in this case? DentonAmerica, just STFU. And Steph, just stop taking the bait!
Im not blasting family members in general. I am blasting family members who are trolling on the boards. The coaches read the boards, believe what you want but this is a fact. 95% of all message boards are all speculation, I only post things that I know to be 100% true.

Im not going anywhere. I was here before you got here and Ill be here when your gone. Its just a piece of advice to watch what you say. Ive seen many crash and burn before. Coaches read every word written on this board, if you didnt know that. Its not helping your brother out at all.

This post was a complete failure, stop trying to stir everything up and then refuse to give any details. Exhibit A why family members don't need to be revealing info on the boards. Bad for both parties.

Everyone on this site knows who he is and how vital he is. But you said his situation is not good. Players sit out for all kinds of reasons especially in spring ball. It is impossible to know a players exact situation by just seeing they are not playing or in a boot or on crutches or whatever the situation is. Antonio Johnson isn't practicing because he is so valuable the coaches don't want him to reinjure his knee problem from the season. So I guess his situation isn't "good" either because hes on the sidelines watching. The bottom line is you cant tell whats going on from the stands so either admit someone told you what his problem is or stop speculating.

How do you know his situation or extent of his injury by just looking at him?

Harry you are exactly right with the qb situation. Its a two horse race at this point.

Sources have confirmed that it will be announced tomorrow that Noah Joseph is leaving for another job. The school he is leaving for was not disclosed.

I thought BB went FBS/FBS/JC/NT in an accelerated manner. God forbid, because I still have hope for the guy here, but are you saying that a move to Northern Colorado or somewhere for two years is out of the question? Two years here, or two years FCS is the way I've been reading it. If there is only a one year FCS possibility, I would think that his chances of staying here are a bit higher.
Its a one time rule. It only applies to first time transfers. After your first transfer then you have to sit a yr.
-
I think Brock Berglund is gone. I don't think McCarney likes Berglund. He will transfer to a D-AA school where he can play right away.
FCS transfer is only applicable on your first transfer. After you transfer once you cannot then transfer to a FCS and play right away.

By all accounts, Cyril is "far and away" the best lineman on the team... for this year, Y'barbo should be second team. but next year, i expect to see 3 first team all conference O-linemen (Ybarbo, Lemon, Antonio). they are all really that good!!!
What accounts do you speak of?
-
Thanks for the backup, John. But seriously, in the words of the great Admiral Ackbar "it's a trap."
They're making silly statements saying Cyril didn't deserve first team. No need to argue why Lemon is better than Y'Barbo by pointing out why Y'Barbo, our own player doesn't deserve first team. That's what they did with Lemon, our own player, which is ridiculous. But you saw that too and gave them both their dues rather than bash one.
And them for Denton America to tell me if I asked the players who they thought was better, they'd say Y'Barbo, when I've definitely had that conversation with many of them and they said Lemon was the best on the team the last two years. Not by much, but I have heard the players' takes. Both are highly respected and acknowledged and it's sort of a 1A and 1B thing.
Still wasn't as ridiculous as the conspiracy that Lemon made first team because Mac recruited him and didn't recruit Y'Barbo.
But you have he right outlook like always John. Be glad both were so highly regarded, and realize that both will have great shots at being the two first-team all conference guards next year with Will Simmons of ECU graduating and likely headed to the NFL.
Billy Sierra, Ask someone who plays not your old hs buddy Connor Trussell. Ur info isn't correct on anything you've said.

How many false starts did Cyril have? I seem to remember Y'Barbo having some at some of the worst times this year.
Great way to assess a lineman. How many false starts they had.

Seeing talk like this makes me think that Cyril Lemon is our most under-appreciated player. Y'Barbo is more of a fiery guy and a damn good player, but Lemon has been our best, most consistent, and most versatile lineman on our team and maybe in our whole conference. Watch him pass block; he never gets beat and hes a road grader.
Y'Barbo's good, but the other guard picked was Will Simmons of ECU, who most predict to be a top 10, some say top 5 guard in this draft.
Y'Barbo being the third best guard in this conference behind Cyril Lemon, who has the best chance of any of our players to get drafted at some point, and Simmons who will likely get drafted this year is no knock on him. He's had a great season and luckily for us still has one more.
Completely false about Lemon. If you watched him close you will see he isn't our best ol. Y'barbo is the best lineman. Lemon played some rt this yr and got exposed. All conference teams are 100% politics especially when it comes to ol. Thats just the facts. If you dont want to believe that Y'barbo is our best lineman ask the players, they will tell you and they might not name Lemon as the 2nd or 3rd.

I guess we underestimated the losses of Fortenberry and Power
YES. The two best blockers on last years team.
-
He hasn't thrown to the TE in two years here. Powers was underused immensely the past several years. It is clearly not a priority to get the TE the ball. Ill believe it when i see it.

1. I didn't say you did.
2. You cannot run any offense with lesser talent and win--consistently. You can win a bowl game here and there, and as I mentioned--knock off a team that seldom plays against that type of offense sure, but you can do the same thing with a run-based offense and a QB under center. Both styles have to have at least some talent at specific positions. UNT had little luck with the spread during Dodge's tenure. WKY did pretty well with a run-based offense last year and the year before, and they basically had 2 skill position players.
And we are turning this into semantics. VERY few college teams run a "pro-style" offense. They either have run first, or pass first offenses. I am saying that you can be successful with either one based on your personnel strengths, and you don't have to have superior athletes at all positions.
Western Kentucky the past 2 years has a record of 14-13.....thats one game above average. There are countless examples of spread teams with average talent that are more successful. Example LA Tech, Ark state, Tulsa

Meach is a longshot. He turned down several opportunities last year. He will probably be Houstons top target, as most have Herman leaving for a bigger job.
