  2. UNT WBB Event - Washington, DC December

    If anyone is in the Washington, DC area, we are in the midst of planning an Alumni/WBB event for their December basketball games.  Just got off a call with Athletics, the Alumni Association and Student Affairs to do the initial planning, and we are super excited about this event.  We have over 1500 alums in the areas, so we hope we can get our folks to show up!!

  3. Sunbelt adding 4 new teams (3 from CUSA)

    At issue is an impending decision by Southern Miss, Marshall and Old Dominion over whether to join the Sun Belt Conference. Sources tell CBS Sports that the three Conference USA schools, along with James Madison of the FCS, could be invited to join the Sun Belt as early as next week. CBS Sports previously learned all four have been in the process of choosing between the two conferences.

    There has been contact between C-USA and McNeese State from the Southland Conference and Sam Houston of the WAC, sources told CBS Sports. Like James Madison, those are FCS schools that would require an NCAA-mandated multi-year transition process to FBS.

    The preference for C-USA is to add FBS members with schools such as independents New Mexico State, UConn and UMass also being mentioned. CBS Sports previously reported independent Liberty is in the mix for either C-USA or Sun Belt membership. Given the developments of this past week, it would likely prefer the Sun Belt at this time as the school assesses its options. That is ... unless the schools mentioned decide to remain with/join C-USA.

    "It's not clear what a 14-team AAC would be worth in media rights revenue. Conference USA schools get about $500,000 annually in their current TV deal. The AAC, as it currently exists, averages $7 million per team. That figure is expected to decline significantly after the loss of three schools to the Big 12.

    Even if its 1/2 of the current amount ($3.5M) , it will have positive implications for our program."

    While the Buckeyes have a quarterback committed for 2020 in Scottsdale (Ariz.) Chaparral four-star Jack Miller (6-4, 210), who pledged July 1, another arm is on the table with depth at the position needed.One of Ohio State’s offer candidates for 2020 appears to be Austin “Kade” Renfro, who camped before he and his family left early in the afternoon and went inside the team facility with passing game coordinator/quarterbacks coach Mike Yurcich.  The 6-3 1/2, 189-pounder from Stephenville, Texas, committed June 1 to North Texas but is attracting Power Five interest. He jumped on his offer from the in-state Mean Green, but the three-star quarterback camped Thursday at Texas A&M and has Florida State on deck Sunday for a camp. After he came back from an injury to start his junior season, Renfrow completed 105 of 163 passes (64.4 percent) for 1,840 yards with 17 touchdowns to nine interceptions in 2018 as Stephenville went 7-4 and reached the Texas Class 4A playoffs’ second round.

  21. Pre-Game Show on Facebook Live

    I was thinking about this over the weekend, and especially after watching the in-studio commentary from Liberty - I would love to see us do a Facebook Live Pre-game show. It looks like our technology has grown leaps and bounds over the past, but I would like to see some commentary, interview of coaches, a 5-10 min Q and A with the AD.

    For example, here is what Oklhoma did ... just a thought.

    Keys to the Game

    I watched the Arkansas game vs Colorado State, and here is my 1 offensive and 1 defensive keys to the game:

    OFFENSE: We need to get our tight end involved early.  Once CSU got their TE involved, it opened up the passing game -- especially in the middle of the field.  We have an amazing TE that I predict with have 75 yards receiving and 2 TDs.

    DEFENSE: Our defensive ends have to play contain.  ARK loves the jet sweep and and the pitch sweep -- if our DE's get sucked in, then they are going to pick up big chunks of yards; but if they can push the runner more lateral or push him to the inside, I think that our linebackers can clean it up.
