It won't show in the box score, but he did a tremendous job keeping contain on their bubble screens. Probably his best game in two years.

I think I'm with Cougar King on this one.
Good grief, the current generation of parenting is absolutely pathetic. I would be absolutely mortified to have had a parent post something like this.
Luckily it sounds like Nic hasn't been negatively affected by this kind of "helicoptering", since he is such a hard worker (or maybe he's overcompensating for it??), but most of the kids being raised by these parents are gonna' turn out as total wusses.
It'll totally be over the next time the Germans bomb Pearl Harbor.
I am a parent of two children and I find this comment highly offensive. My kids are only 4 and 3, but we constantly try to teach them about responsibility, working hard, studying, being a good leader, and what it means to be a good human being. Am I a perfect parent, absolutely not. Will my kids understand what respect is and that quitting is unacceptable, absolutely.
At 4 my son already can explain why we fought the British in the American Revolution. I promise you by five he won't ever make the mistake about who bombed Pearl Harbor. Our history is important, take some time to learn it, and and try to learn something about respect. Certainly parents, not of my generation, would have taught you taking anonymous cheap shots on a message board is disrespectful. If you are going to call some out like that, at least put your name on it.

I would guess
T - Fortenberry
G - Feldt
C - Y'Barbo
G - Lemon
T - Feeley / Johnson
Fortenberry started at tackle until JJ went down. I would imagine they want to move Fortenberry back to tackle if at all possible.

I think it is safe to say the staff wanted to hang on to a few of the guys we lost at the end of the process. That said, compared to the Dodge classes, these guys have better frames and appear to be pretty athletic. None of it really matters until they buckle it up. Try and trust the guys we are paying.
Lets enjoy the some publicity that is fairly positive, before you go back to self loathing.

Honestly, I am fine with hearing that anyone is trying to steal our recruits. To me that means we are doing a good job of evaluating talent. Not sure that was the case for six pretty miserable years.

You think coach Bowen would throw Chad Polk in to replace Orr? I mean, Polk looks like he will be a good MLB in the future. Sure, January is a Sr. and is probably a better player, but Polk is the future right? Heck no! We'll see January out there at MLB at Troy. And why? Because we are trying to win the game.
Just pray that Thompson comes back healthy for the Troy game and he does not go out again. We already know McNulty will not be winning any games for us this year when he is playing QB.
I think you mean Akunne, Polk has not played all year. I doubt you see much of January. I would guess this will come down to Akunne or moving Forlando Johnson inside. For what it is worth, I think Akunne has been more impressive than January. No matter who plays, our starting MLB is a much bigger concern than who is the back up QB.

There are some good thoughts on this thread that would encourage attendance. I would recommend that you email your thoughts to Rick or Maureen McGuinness, dean of students. maureen.mcguinness@unt.edu. These are people who can actually implement items. Discussing on the board only will probably never lead to any real action.

From what I have seen, he is used pretty much only on third down passing situations. I would guess they are trying to keep him off the field on running downs since he is undersized.

If it's the extremely low expectations of those who post here on the "OCCUPY MEAN GREEN" board that bothers you, you need to realize something, if you haven't already?
Your invested in this program, as I and many here are too. But understand that many of those who are shooting their mouth's off are not. One poster here was begging for tickets the other day, so you figure he's not invested with this program but has a criticism and opinion of everything. Another lives hundreds of miles away and probably hasn't been to Denton in 20 years or more, yet comes on here every day and has an opinion about everything too.
We have a very cheap fan base right now. I doubt we have 3,000 MGClub donors if I had to guess? But my point being, it's real easy to set your sights low when you don't have much invested. So when you don't have much invested it's very easy to come on here and make excuse after excuse for low expectations then turn on those who expect more?
Rick
Having a welcoming attitude like this will certainly entice more people to invest in the program. For the record I donate, and certainly take every opportunity to talk about the positives we have to get others on board. Are we where we want to be, no. is coach Mac getting us pointed in the right direction, yes.
You running us down is accomplishing nothing.

He would get more playing time if he could catch the ball.

Yes $75 per ticket and purchase order will be determined by priority points

The average linebacker weight is closer to 216. You need to remove Daniel Prior (now a TE), and then add in Will Wright. I would assume there are also either unlisted walkons or incoming freshman that factor into the equation as well.
If anything we need to have oversized linebackers if we are going to keep running out an undersized Dline. Having the entire front seven undersized is killing us. Small and slow on defense is trouble.

Leppo got hurt in the Army game, so I would hardly say he got a lot of playing time. As for Adedeipe, the only time I have seen him was against Troy. Based on the results there, I have serious concerns. I hope he uses the spring and develops. For the rest (Johnson, Bean and Y'Barbo), have they seen the field yet in a game? If not, then I would tap the brakes on saying they have talent we can rely upon.

I am pretty sure we recruited him to play on the defensive side of the ball. Based on the videos I would think we try to play him close to the LOS, but it looks like he is more of a player in space.
-
After watching what Jonathan Massaquoi did to Adedipe I am not sold he should be in the starting line up. With all the experience Fortenberry has now, I would imagine he has the nod at the back up Center spot unless the plan is to move him to to guard.

Given how efficient Riley was this year, I think it is his job to lose. He completed 60% of his passes and threw 11 TDs and only 4 INTs. I don't recall if he had any fumbles, but he certainly did a much better job of taking care of the ball. In an offense with Lance Dubar, that may be all that matters.

Lets hope we also keep Coach Hines. From what I have seen he is an outstanding coach.

I just received this. Hopefully we have a big crowd of supporters on hand to welcome Coach McCarney.
It is with great enthusiasm that we would like to cordially invite you to a Mean Green Club reception on Tuesday, November 30th from 6:00PM to 7:00PM to introduce our new head football coach at North Texas.
Because of your commitment to support our student-athletes through your donation to the Mean Green Club, a reception will be hosted to give you and a guest the opportunity to meet the new head football coach. The new head football coach will visit with Mean Green Club members for about 30-45 minutes in the Mean Green Hospitality room prior to the 7PM Men’s Basketball game versus UT Arlington. As usual, there will be an $8 per person charge to enter the Mean Green Hospitality room, which will include a full buffet from Outback Steakhouse as well as beverages.
-
My understanding is they are hoping to make an announcement around the K-State game. This will give the new coach time to put together a full staff, as well as hit the recruiting trail as soon as possible.
-
If you want to pay the assistants more, there is a simple solution. Donate to the Mean Green Club and buy club seats...it is that easy.
-
Once Dodge cannot get to seven wins I would name Canales as interim head coach. This would give you a "free" look to see how he responds as head coach and how the team responds to his leadership.

The strengths of our team heading into the season were our offensive line and our running backs. At this point I would like to see us line up with a tight end, a fullback, and a tailback. Let's hand the ball to Lance Dunbar about 30 times per game and run some play action passes. It really does not matter what I think, but there it is......
It sounds like someone misses the Dickey offense.

My wife and I both enjoyed the event. She is still reveling in the fact she won an autographed football.

I wouldn't say they were MVPs, but it was nice to see the tight ends end up with 5 catches. I cannot remember the last time we got that type of production out of that position.
