  1. I had the pleasure of Deputy Athletic Director Hank Dickenson visiting my Sports Administration class. First of all, this guy will make you proud to be apart of the Mean Green.

So for the rumors I can lay to rest...

He said they are pushing for the Football stadium campaign (which isn't a rumor) but he said they are shooting for a 40k seats with the options of being able to expand.

Secondly, I asked him about the football jerseys and the look since Dodge is under contract with Under Armour and he said he doesn't know what it will look like but he said to expect a new look with the jerseys being Under Armour.

Third, a question was asked about how long his contract is for and how long he will be here and, like we know it's 5 years, but he said I can see us talking about a contract extension after game 6 of the season.

Lastly, the not so good news. I asked him about the baseball program and as much as he wants it and we need it he said he doesn't see it happening until another 5 years or at least until after the new stadium is built.

I've got some more stuff later including a crazy story about Coach Dodge that I had never heard and maybe some of you hadn't either so I'll get back. Does anyone know if Hank is on this board? I guess I should have asked him but I didn't.

good stuff. looking forward to the story.

  2. I appreciate that. I'll give you that the three teams were not the greatest. But do realize at one point we were treating them like we were suppose to treat them. We were up 21-7 at one point in the third quarter against Texas. Had we been given the fumble we recovered on their 24 at the start of the game, as well as Cash' 1st TD not been allowed as it shouldn't have been, that game could have easily been 28-0 by the 3rd quarter. Against Rice EVERYONE on our bench played as it was over early. Tech on the other hand was a struggle all the way through and were up on us by 3 TD's at one point but they were far from being a bad SWC team. Even though they completed their season 5-6 overall, they did finish 4-3 in the SWC which included a 1 point loss to a 9-3 U of H team. They then finished with a 3 point loss to a 10-2 Ok State team in the Coca Cola Classic in Tokyo Japan later that year. 5-6 overall, yeah, but not a bad team by any means.

    Rick

Well stated in this and your other posts on the topic, Rick.

I heart the mean green so much.

  3. Alright, so almost every single day when I walked to my classes and other things last semester, I ran into a lot of former high school athletes, namely football players. (Also ran into lots of ex runners, (including myself) but thats irrelevant) Anyway, I was thinking, with 34,000 students, we've got to have some decent athletes among us. So, what if Coach Dodge had a campus wide football tryout, kind of like the Dallas Desperados do. They could just be signed as walk-ons or something. Make for some great storylines, possibly hollywood movie material if we got to a BCS bowl

I think itd be cool, get some kids out of their dorm rooms and the music practice building and on to the gridiron

It has been the basis for some good sports movies. Most recently "Invincible". I don't think its a bad idea. And go Theta Chi. Send me an email. I'm an alum.

  4. tubby coleman fumble and the oklahoma state field goal. i was at both of those games and each broke my heart.

thinking about those two plays has me in a monumental nostalgic state. 1994 in stillwater was a surreal trip and a crazy time for me and then the aggie game some years later i was with my wife (former aggie and unt eagle) and i just can't believe how different life was.

anyway, utterly depressing topic. thanks a lot harry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. I wouldn't think so as long as you keep em' cool! At that age they can still pretty much sleep through anything so I wouldn't see noise as a problem.  smile.gif

ditto. my little girl went to a game last year at 4 months and we had no problems. just make sure you cart the little rugrat off to the concourse each and everytime s/he starts to cry. its akin to talking on the cell phone right there in your seat while your neighbor tries to watch the game.
