Hmm. Looking at the map it appears that if you didn't donate at least $250 for the MGC you are just SOL huh? Can someone explain how we are going to attract anyone at all in the general public (or students for that matter) if the closest they can park is Fouts? Hopefully there will be a fleet of shuttle buses to transport fans to and from the site before AND after the game? Or do we wait until the first student gets nailed trying to cross the Ave D bridge or walking under 35 on Bonnie Brae before we do something?

There is parking at the Tennis/Soccer/Softball/volleyball complex as well as the old hotel parking lot. It wont get everyone on the south side of 35, but there's plenty of parking over there.

i thought i heard they were going to make residents vacate the victory hall dorm lot also by gameday. this map does not seem to indicate that it is available.

That's the white lot.

I believe that is still the case, but we will all know in plenty of time for the first game on Sept.10th.

Really, when you think about it, all UNT fans have been somewhat spoiled by the close in parking at Fouts. Seems that had as much to do with attendance levels as anything else, but most really did get to park pretty darn close to Fouts. That is definitely NOT the case for many schools and their stadiums unless you are a program donor and a pretty good sized one at that. Season ticket holders at many schools do not get any level of priority parking UNLESS they are also donors at various levels. Much like UNT except the donation level is much higher at many places that I am aware of these days. To get a spot on the south side of 35E for a $250 donation level is in comparison a bargain. While it may be a bit of a trek from Fouts, there is rumored to be shuttle bus service and a pedestrian bridge will be built in the near future. Once that is built it will help a great deal. In the meantime, I think we all need to take a deep breath and relax as it will be a challenge this first year or so until the walkway is done, Bonnie Brae is "fixed" and until everyone gets set into their new game day routine. It will be new and different for everyone, including UNT staffers working on game days. So, patience, folks, patience...get there early, enjoy the Alumni Pavilion and the pre-game tailgating and events and have a great time. Stay after to tailgate and let the traffic subside...and, if you are not a MGC donor and Alumni Association member, maybe it is the exact right time to consider joining one or both. Seems that the value to being a member of the MGC and the Alumni Association has certainly increased recently. Think about it.

GO MEAN GREEN...WHY NOT NORTH TEXAS! Sept. 10 simply cannot get here soon enough.

I've also heard they are going to have the dirt field across from the new lot open for pay parking the day of the game...

however if its muddy they said they wouldn't let anyone park there

For the present, give $500 annually and you should be able to park at the Victory Hall (white) lot. Contingent upon the widening of I-35 there will be a footbridge across the interstate from the Fouts lots so parking spaces in the vicinity of Fouts will be pretty close too. Also, don't forget there will be a large parking garage across from the Super Pit eventually.

We'll have more close-in parking than about any stadium in Texas. If you think that's bad try parking at SMU, TCU, Texas Tech, LSU, etc. You have a 10-15 minute walk if you don't get there early with NO shuttle busses. You pay through the nose at parking garages anywhere near Royal-Memorial Stadium and you still have a pretty good walk. The situation looks excellent to me. Are we talking about a wrinkled $100 dollar bill again?

Totally agree with deep, wrinkled $100 rears its head again. I did hear from AD that one lane of N. Texas blvd bridge will be closed on game day for foot traffic. All us fat lazy Internet surfers need the exercise anyway. ;)

Even without the pedestrian bridge across the green lot at Fouts really isn't that far away from the stadium. It is MAYBE a quarter mile if you either cross at Bonnie Brae or NT Boulevard.

I don't know exactly how they're going to do gameday, but this is how I would do it (assuming total control of the area).

gamedayr.png

The entire westbound lane of NT Blvd bridge would be pedestrian only. Cars coming off of I35-E would be forced right or left (no straight ahead) at NT Blvd. Cars heading towards 35E on NT Blvd would be forced over to the left hand lane and then eventually the eastbound lane at the bridge to the new road or southbound on 35E. That new road off of NT Blvd would be only for incoming cars, outgoing cars would need to drive south of the rec fields and then north on Bonnie Brae.

Cars coming in from Fort Worth who are not in the $1,000+ donation level (both non-MGC and <$1000 MGC) would be sent up to Prairie and east. This would keep the traffic from getting overly congested at that side entrance and keep pedestrian safety intact.

This is what happens when you're bored and have Paint.

My group is planning for post-game tailgating, but the white parking egress route leaves much to be desired if you want to get back to Dallas.

I'm not sure which would be faster but if that indeed was the route, I'd turn left onto the I35 frontage road and go north until University/US380 and use the U-turn to get southbound to enter on I35 south to head towards Dallas. Otherwise I'd stay on Bonnie Brae until I get to Prairie and then wonder around until I could find way to get to I35E.

Prepare to be annoyed then. From what I was told, the only people allowed to go back towards the service road on Boonie Brae after the game will be the people in the Green Lots. White will have to go the other direction. To where, I don't think they had figured that out yet.

Like I said, I plan to post-game tailgate so I don't have to fool around with what appears to be a poor egress plan. With Fouts they could have the parking lots cleared in under an hour. With the new stadium it appears it will take longer.

I'm sure that after the game is over, the new road would be swapped to egress and feed people straight onto the 35E southbound service road. My artistry was only for before/first half of the game. It'll be interesting to see how they handle it. If the city had built Bonnie Brae, or if they hadn't blocked off Denia, it would be much easier.
