A For Effort?

Allow me to preface this post by saying I love UNT's new president and had the privilege to shake his hand after we ran into each other on the streets of Austin after the game. He even introduced me to his crew as "MeanGreenMan" and has a lot of spirit and energy. Also, when it comes to social media, he gets it. He tweeted about the game Thursday night and some students questioned if they could get out of class. This made me recall the letter USA's soccer coach put out there over the summer which I used to attempt to get out of work (that did not work either)...

For the record, I am an alumni...not even qualified for the "young alumni section"

But yes, it is a problem. 7,500 more people couldn't come out Saturday so we could #Hit30K? Over 200,000 alumni in Metroplex, shoot, Denton alone has over 100,000 people, Denton County has over 700,000 people. If I lived in Denton County and wasn't a UNT alumni, I'd still be intrigued to go see a football team for a ridiculously affordable price and soak up the college football experience.

I just don't get it, and there's always going to be excuses "it's too hot, it's too early, it's too cold, it's too late, it's too this or too that"...

I got the impression that a majority of the HOD crowd were alumni since students were complaining about the price. I thought every single one of those people would show up Saturday. I was wrong. One day, it will happen, and it will be glorious.
