Pellini Proposes Doing Away With National Signing Day

Not sure what he's getting at. It won't stop the "hat" stuff. What he wants--sounds like--is to be able to hold a kid to the offer once it's signed--however early it's signed.

"Make it mean something." That has several meanings, and not all of them have to do with the athlete.

You are probably right, I doubt that the hat stuff would stop. It could actually increase it since they would likely sign right then. I do think that he has a valid point on the offer meaning something. There are a lot of schools that take commitments from kids and then keep trying to get a better player. If they were to sign at the point that they made a commitment, the offer would have to mean that the school had a spot for them and they were both serious. There are a lot of benefits to this type of arrangement. On the other side, there could be a lot more transfers as a result of this. Still, I do think he may be on to something here.
