Everybody is putting stock in Williams bc no one wants to watch the second coming of Derek Thompson the next 3 or 4 years. People don't want to watch a 2500 yd passer 12 td 12 int. It's frustrating and exhausting being so invested in a program then watching that. Williams offers a spark with his legs. He's not the 2nd coming of Manziel, but he could be a Soza from utsa. Good decision making, high % throws, and make something happen with his legs whether designed or not. I really hope DW is our next QB. If Canales can mold the O around him the offense will be very, very good. Also, basing this only on his persona I think that no atmosphere will be too big for him...such as @ DKR.

Those 2 tenths of a second is a giant difference. Also McNulty runs more like a TE and DW runs more like a back. So elusiveness is also on DW's side. I can't speak for accuracy at this point, but arm strength is also on DW's side. With a good offensive game plan molded around DW along with the weapons on O this O can be surprisingly good.

The problem with having a four year starter who (mostly) stayed healthy is you really have zero idea who is going to be good behind him.

For all we've seen of McNulty, he could be the next coming of Andrew Smith and we would have no idea. He came in, cold, two plays into a blowout against Arky State in 2011 and went 14-26 for 136-1-1 (a game where we were down 31-0 at the half). Same deal with another 2011 blowout against Tulsa (28-3 at the half), where he posted a 11-18, 158-0-2 line. Outside of those two games, he has a total of 13 passes under his belt. Not sure if you can tell much of anything from that tiny sample size in those game situations.

Dajon Williams looked absolutely amazing during each his six throws in a blowout agaist Idaho. But it's crazy to try and call him the next coming based on that sample size, either. Same goes for Connor Means, Quinn Shanbour, or Josh Greer. They have played exactly zero snaps, and at least two of them probably won't... ever.

Uncertainty isn't all doom and gloom. Hope always springs eternal, and that's really part of the fun of watching your team. But, realistically... we have no idea what any of these guys have in the bag. Yet.

Andrew Smith was 6-0 (if that) and DW is 6-4... Smith had a big arm but he was slow afoot. Love Andrew but I think DW has more upside if he can put it all together.

      The Athletic on DFW Football recruiting

      We have complained for years about being left in the dark. The Mean Green Club was promised quarterly meetings that never took place, now there is little to no coverage of the spring practices, player movement is constant so the days of watching a last second scholarship player developing in to a Hall of Fame performer are long gone ala Johnny Quinn, there is little to no fan engagement, etc... It just keeps getting worse and without a push to really involve the fans, I foresee a bleak future. They, the AD, has to create excitement around the team/program or Apogee will just become a waste of money, the new basketball arena will never happen and future adds like baseball will just be an idea that came too late. The days of the G5's are on their way out. It will be whittled down to the top 40 or 50 programs as D1. We might as well go back to our D1AA days and play at the FCS level. I am just about done with sports from a financial commitment position. The greed has ruined it for me. Their is zero loyalty towards the program by the players. It is all about them and how much money they can cram in their pockets and it appears our basketball coach encourages the lack of loyalty. I will watch on television, but that's about it, much like pro sports have become. I have no interest in attending a Cowboys' game live once the prices became ridiculous, same with the Mav's and Rangers' in that stupid new ballpark that was a waste of money. I had arrived at a point where I was only willing to invest in watching North Texas live, but the current situation has ruined that as well. The future of all of college sports is a disaster if some type of control isn't put in place. It is ridiculous and very sad. Guess I will end up spending my money on golf, fine food and drink, drugs, etc. and become a more interesting person.

      Opportunity to beat up on one of the worst teams in the country in Memphis (5-34, 1-17). Really can't let them steal one like UTSA did a few weeks ago. This could help solidify a top two seed (top two seeds would only need to win two games in the conference tournament to win the title) if Tulsa takes 2 of 3 from Charlotte this weekend.       Doesn't seem new, but unlimited transfers

      I can't blame them, the system in place allows them to profit and to move freely. We may not like it, but it's the system. I'm hoping schools taking over the collectives, it's already happening for reasons I stated above, will usher in contracts and buy outs for players. We've opened Pandora's box so we aren't going back to amateur sports, the best we can get out of it is payment on our investments.
