"The extra point is almost automatic," Goodell said. "I believe we had five missed extra points this year out of 1,200 some odd (attempts). So it's a very small fraction of the play, and you want to add excitement with every play.

"There's one proposal in particular that I've heard about," Goodell went on. "It's automatic that you get seven points when you score a touchdown, but you could potentially go for an eighth point, either by running or passing the ball, so if you fail, you go back to six."

WHAT?!!!!

I don't like it. To me, a better solution would be to move the given LOS back further. For some reason, the NFL has deliberately made XPs easier by placing the ball at the 2 instead of the 3. What they could do is move the ball back to the 12 or a little further to kick the extra point, or leave it at the 2 to run or pass for the 2-point conversion. That would completely eliminate fake kick attempts on extra points, but so would eliminating kicked extra points altogether.

Terrible.... that makes field goals 1/2 as valuable of touchdowns unless they call a TD 7-points.... plus it would take away the 2-point option some teams use to catch up or win...

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.... maybe the worst NFL idea ever.

forget robots. Holograms - if they still want to fill stadiums. Otherwise they can just keep on improving the video game technology and make it a video-only game.
